Join me at my kitchen table for a cup of tea and a poem about choosing the words we use to describe ourselves and our lives. 'You are a beautiful, courageous presence. A soft body. A tender spirit. You have been through so much and still you are here, still, you are stepping into each next moment with your brave feet. Your days are shaped through small stories. They don't all have to be told, but they all deserve to be heard, deserve to be given a moment in which to exist as truth. Listen! You, and all the stories that have shaped you, are the gentle presence that the world needs right now.' In this episode, I share about our recent trip to Yorkshire, and how being in that landscape sparked a new meditation practice for me. I ask myself the provocative question: What if I chose to change my inner conversation to one of kindness and acceptance? What if I champion myself; choose myself? Join me at my kitchen table for a conversation about meditation, changing the inner conversation to one that shows love for ourselves, and as always, a poem reading. Courage dear heart, is a little poem about change. Written a few years ago as an introspective conversation with myself, I was trying to give a voice to the fear that I felt about changes that I was making at the time. I hope that, if you are also standing on the edge of the new and the unknown, that it encourages you too. If you are interested in more of my work, this poem can be found in my second collection of poems, A Counting of Love. As always, all my work is a very personal, ongoing conversation with myself. What if you fought a war for yourself, instead of with yourself? What if you used the words you speak to yourself, as a veil of kindness with which to cover your fear, or what you see as your failures? What if you chose yourself every, single day. What if you just stopped beating yourself up with the very words that you are actually trying to heal from. What if you just started being relentlessly kind to yourself? What if you chose to soothe the child within with relentless kindness? As always, all my work is a very personal, ongoing conversation with myself. Nothing shared here constitutes advice. liezel
