Defense Secretary Operational Security Violations — Colonel Jeff McCausland — McCausland criticizes Secretary of Defense Hegseth for posting inflammatory cartoon imagery depicting weapons deployment against waterborne targets and allegedly leaking classified military strike operational details through unclassified communications channels. McCausland argues that this cavalier operational approach fundamentally endangers American military personnel and contradicts the rigorous discipline and operational security protocols expected from a combat veteran occupying the Department of Defense leadership position. 1902

In this special Thanksgiving episode of Wisdom's Table, Rachel Wortman delves into the transformative power of gratitude and its profound impact on our lives as Christians. As we gather around the table to celebrate this holiday, I want to shift our focus from the traditional elements of Thanksgiving—like turkey, pie, and football—to the spiritual power that the act of giving thanks can unlock in our lives. Throughout the episode, we explore five hidden powers that Thanksgiving activates, emphasizing that these are not just feel-good sentiments but essential spiritual strategies that can reshape our hearts and minds. We begin by discussing how Thanksgiving opens the gate to God's presence, illustrating this with powerful scriptures such as Psalm 100:4-5 and Philippians 4:6-7. We emphasize that the act of giving thanks is a key that allows us to enter into a deeper relationship with God, inviting His presence into our lives. Join Profs. Matt Skinner, Karoline Lewis, and Rolf Jacobson as they explore the lectionary readings for the Second Sunday of Advent, Year A, featuring John the Baptist's prophetic ministry and Isaiah's vision of the peaceable kingdom. In this episode, the hosts examine John the Baptist's dramatic appearance in Matthew's gospel, styled after Elijah as the forerunner to the Messiah. They discuss why John positions himself in the wilderness, his confrontational message to the religious authorities ("brood of vipers"), and how his call to repentance mirrors Jesus' own first words of ministry. The conversation explores John's anti-establishment stance, his popularity in first-century Palestine, and how his expectations of Jesus differed from the ministry that actually unfolded. The discussion of Isaiah 11 delves into the promise of a righteous ruler from Jesse's stump and the beautiful poetry of the peaceable kingdom where wolves dwell with lambs and lions eat straw like oxen. The hosts reflect on how this impossible vision confronts the tragic reality of human nature and our inability to solve our own brokenness, pointing to God's solution in Jesus. Karoline highlights the image of righteousness and faithfulness as the very clothing of the Messiah. The Romans passage brings Paul's climactic call for radical welcome and unity between Jewish and Gentile believers, with Rolf emphasizing the power of blessing as a way God's preferred future breaks into the present moment. The story delves into the complexities of human nature, exploring themes of violence, fate, and free will. It presents a dark yet thought-provoking perspective on morality and the human condition, using vivid imagery and metaphor to illustrate the speaker's points. In the dim corridors of history, the island of Sakhalin stands as a testament to the darker facets of human nature. This narrative, set against the backdrop of a machineless era, explores the chilling dynamics of power and the haunting echoes of inhumanity. The Iron Grip of Authority: The story unfolds with a chilling portrayal of authority, where the lives of thousands hang by a thread, controlled by the whims of a few. The dialogue between characters reveals a world where cruelty is not just a tool but a sport, a grim reminder of the past's harsh realities.A Glimpse into the Human Psyche: As the narrative progresses, it delves into the psychological underpinnings of cruelty. The characters' interactions suggest that sometimes, cruelty stems from a deeper, perhaps even pitiable, sickness—a glandular condition that distorts the bloodstream's balance, leading to a desire to inflict or endure pain. The story of Sakhalin is a stark reminder of the complexities of human nature. It challenges us to reflect on the past and consider the factors that drive individuals to acts of cruelty. But meeting that moment requires a much more automated, scalable, and timely process for managing that product imagery lifecycle. Preet Singh, Founder and CEO at Imagine.io, is a strong advocate of the need to compress and combine the product development and imagery development processes to get products to market faster with all the imagery needed to inspire, convince, and convert for any use case and conversation.
Voices is a new mini-series from Humanitarian AI Today. In daily five-minute flashpods we pass the mic to humanitarian experts and technology pioneers, to hear about new projects, events, and perspectives on topics of importance to the humanitarian community. In this flashpod, Jessie Pechmann, Humanitarian GIS and Data Protection Lead with Humanitarian OpenStreetMap, speaks with Humanitarian AI Today producer Brent Phillips about satellite imaging, GIS, and the uses of AI in assessing building damage. They touch on how different AI models and methods can produce wildly different results for the same area, highlighting the need for transparency and better validation practices, including humans in the loop providing local knowledge and oversight. They also discuss the importance of "data commons," the open, shared data resources that humanitarian organizations rely on, and the challenges of supporting them amid a shift away from traditional government funding, which risks data becoming "siloed" as funding moves toward philanthropic or paid-for services. In this episode of the Glowing Older podcast, host Nancy Griffin interviews Michael Clinton, founder and CEO of Roar Forward. They discuss his book Roar Into the Second Half of Your Life, and the concept of New Longevity. Clinton shares insights on reimagining life after 50, the importance of health span over lifespan, and the evolving role of age inclusivity in society and business. The conversation also touches on the impact of ageism, the significance of travel, and the need for continuous learning and personal growth. About Michael Michael Clinton, in partnership with Hearst, is founder and CEO of ROAR Forward, a business-to-business intelligence, insights and content platform. ROAR Forward's primary focus is the new demographic segment of individuals aged 50+who are redefining the second half of life in their careers, passions and lifestyles. ROAR Forward offerings include the ROAR Report with proprietary data and research, bulletins, seminars, workshops, along with original content and events that shed light on the dynamically changing market demographic of individuals aged 50-plus who now comprise 35% of the population. Clinton serves on the board of The Stanford Center on Longevity and is a globally recognized speaker about the New Longevity. In December 2023, he was named to Estee Lauder's first-ever Longevity Collective, a curated group of influential experts and global pioneers in longevity science and lifestyle. Clinton's best-selling book, ROAR into the second half of your life, now in its fourth printing, is the springboard for ROAR Forward. As a contributing writer for Esquire, Men's Health and Oprah Daily, Clinton frequently covers the topic of the new longevity movement. In 2024, Men's Health named Clinton “the pivot pioneer” in a feature about the 5 men leading the longevity conversation. In May 2019, Clinton was named senior media advisor to the CEO of Hearst after 21 years at the company. Previously, he was president of marketing & publishing director of Hearst Magazines and was a member of the board of directors of Hearst Corporation. Prior to that, Clinton was executive vice president of Condé Nast Publications. Key Takeaways The New Longevity is about reinventing, reimagining, and rethinking the second half of life. Healthspan plus Wealthspan equals a great Lifespan. The acronym for ROAR is, the R, the reimaginationprocess. O own your numbers. A the action plan, a program that we call life layering, and the final R is your relationships, reassessing the people around you in the second half of life. The huge population of 50-plus impacts company and brands strategies, marketing and advertising, society and culture and infrastructure. Thirty five percent of the US population is currently 50 plus, with 60 million people 65 or older, growing to 80 million by 2040. To put into perspective, 100 years ago there were only seven million people over 65 in the US. Advertising needs to be age inclusive. Imagery and messaging in advertising reinforces ageist thinking, which becomes self-imposed ageism.
Episode SummaryIn this rich and deeply reflective conversation, Amy Wheeler speaks with Bonnie Buckner, author of The Secret Mind: Unlock the Power of Dreams to Transform Your Life. Together, they explore how dreams—both night dreams and daydreams—can become a powerful path to healing, self-awareness, and transformation. Daydreams and night dreams are not just subconscious wanderings—but powerful tools for healing, insight, and transformation. Bonnie explains how the default mode network of the brain, active during dreaming, holds the key to our creative and emotional intelligence, bypassing the inner critic that often stifles our potential. Together, they unpack the symbolism of animals in dreams, the science behind functional mutuality in the brain, and how re-entering a dream through waking imagery can bring resolution and clarity. Amy even shares a personal dream about a mountain lion, and Bonnie gently guides her to see it not as a mystery to decode, but an energy to honor and heal. This episode offers a fascinating glimpse into the intersection of neuroscience, yoga philosophy, and the art of listening deeply to the inner self.Drawing from both neuroscience and imagery-based therapeutic tools, Bonnie shares how the default network of the brain, often activated during non-linear, imaginative states, plays a crucial role in our inner healing. She explains how dreams reveal our inner blocks, and how we can use waking dream exercises to address unresolved patterns—without needing to overanalyze or “figure it out.”Amy and Bonnie reflect on:The importance of daydreaming as a seed of creativity and visionWhy sleep dreaming bypasses our inner critic and opens access to deeper truthsHow to re-enter dreams to resolve internal conflict and restore inner harmonyWhy images are the language of the nervous system, and more powerful than words aloneHow dreamwork intersects with yoga therapy, and why Patāñjali encourages dream observation as a path to self-knowledgeThe relationship between creativity and blocked energy, especially for performers and professionals who feel stuckAmy even shares one of her own dreams, and Bonnie offers a moving example of how we can tend to the symbolic beings that appear in our subconscious—offering healing not only to the dream, but to the dreamer.About Bonnie BucknerDr. Bonnie Buckner is the founder of the International Institute for Dreaming and Imagery, and teaches globally on the power of dreams and the creative mind.
