Elders who have been born into the world who love the Earth are gifts for those of us that are regaining our relationship with the land. It is our pleasure to share Del Norte County's Permaculture Knowledge Keeper Terry Allaway. Terry has lived in Del Norte for over 25 years and understands the land and the region. However, Terry seems to have been born with an innate passion and love for the Earth and life. Terry has a nursery in Smith River. So much gratitude and honor to listen to Yurok Elder Laura Woods and her journey to reclaiming her heritage and the value of practicing ceremony in her life. Laura is a member of the Yurok community, the largest Indigenous Nation in California, located in Klamath California. Laura has been serving in the Judicial system for near 40 years and is presently working through the Yurok Tribal Court and supporting the culture and traditions of the Yurok community.

We meet up with Indigenous Dine Advocate and Activist Barbara Burnside. We are honored and privileged to be a part of Barbara's advocacy journey for wellness and be witnesses to the hard struggles of an Indigenous woman holding onto traditions in the contemporary world.

Our friend comes to us with introspective reflections that advocate the voices of mixed blood Indigenous peoples and also for others who have a hunger for their place in the world. Elder Scott Frazier is the founder of Project Indigenous and an advocate for holding onto an Indigenous perspective within an ever-changing colonial influenced society.

Ruby Faagau, a legal consultant and advocate for indigenous people offers insights on legal issues and concerns that are Pacific Islander pertinent. Yet this interview offers reflections that correspond to the broader Indigenous arena.

We at Our Ancient Lands are honored to share with you Indigenous Elder Scott Frazier from the original homelands of the Santee Sioux and Absarokee (Crow) Montana region. Scott shares with us his philosophy on culture, environment, politics and art. Scott is the founder of Project Indigenous and had been a culture bearer of the Sundance for over 35 years.

Diveena Marcus, Ph. D. Indigenous Studies offers a commentary on the history and significance of North American Indigenous removals and the contemporary value it continues to hold for Indigenous North Americans.

This month we take a brief look at topics 4, 5, and 6 within the Longest Walk Concerns. Topic 4 takes Environmental concerns into the Indigenous communities, topic 5 addresses the validity of Congressional Plenary power, topic 6 addresses racial environmentalism and the need for policies and preventative measures.
