Raidījumā Brīvības bulvāris saruna ar vēsturnieku Kārli Silu par Latvijas valsts veidošanos pirms 107 gadiem, par parlamentārisma vēstures analoģijām un "zelta laikmetu" vēsturē. Katra paaudze vēsturi pārraksta no jauna, jo ir vairāk avotu un mainās politiskie vēstures diskursi. Kārlis Sils ir jaunās paaudzes vēsturnieks, savu disertāciju aizstāvējis Florencē un pētījis Kārļa Ulmaņa varas periodu Latvijā, demokrātijas zaudēšanu, parlamenta atlaišanu.  Latvijas valsts ir nodibināta pirms 107 gadiem. Tātad 56 gadi bez okupācijas, 51 gads, kad valsts turpināja pastāvēt trimdā kā sapnis, kā sociāla atmiņa. Šoreiz raidījumā par tiem 56 gadiem Latvijas valsts vēsturē, kas lika pilsoņiem organizēt valsti un veidot valsti.  Vai savas valsts pastāvēšana, ja mēs domājam arī par šo numeroloģisko aspektu - cik gadi un kādā kontekstā, vai tā ir tāda pašsaprotama lieta?  Kārlis Sils: Domāju, ka tā noteikti nav pašsaprotama lieta. Tā noteikti nav arī nejaušība. Ja mēs skatāmies uz to, kā varēja rasties Latvija pirms 107 gadiem, tad priekšnoteikumi tam, lai cilvēki Latvijas teritorijā, Latvijā, principā jau spētu veiksmīgi pašorganizēties neatkarīgā valstī, bija izveidojušies jau kādas 2-3 paaudzes iepriekš. Nerunājot par elitēm - vācbalti bija pašorganizēties spējīgi jau gadsimtiem ilgi. Tātad kopš 19. gadsimta 60. gadiem pakāpeniski izveidojās spēcīga latviešu elite, kas bija spējīga veiksmīgi un sekmīgi pēc tam organizēt valsti.  Tāpat tie cilvēki, kas veidoja Latvijas valsti, bija gluži tāpat kā visi eiropieši, impēriju laikmeta bērni. Tas jāņem vērā, vai tie būtu Francijas pilsoņi, Lielbritānijas pilsoņi, Krievijas impērijas pilsoņi vai Austroungārijas pilsoņi, un arī mazāko valstu pilsoņi, visi dzīvoja impēriju laikmetā, kas beidzās ar Pirmo pasaules karu un revolūcijām. Līdz ar to varbūt tā daļa, ko mūsdienās grūtāk saprast, ka vēl 1915., 1916. gadā neviens nerāvās dibināt Latvijas neatkarīgu valsti uzreiz, lai gan priekšnoteikumi daudzējāda ziņā bija izpildīti. Sākotnēji tās cerības bija saglabāt kaut kādu lielāku ekonomisku ietvaru, kurā varētu attīstīties sekmīgāka ekonomika, vienlaikus iegūstot pēc iespējas lielāku nacionālo autonomiju Latvijai. Protams, revolūcijas un straujā notikumu attīstība pēc Februāra revolūcijas, pēc boļševiku apvērsuma, pēc Vācijas revolūcijas noveda pie tā, ka šī elite, kura jau bija pietiekami pašpārliecināta, izlēma dibināt Latvijas valsti. Pēc tam nākamos 20 gadus pēc kara beigām valsti samērā sekmīgi arī pārvaldīja. Tie rezultāti un sasniegumi bija pietiekami iespaidīgi un spēcīgi, lai pierādītu to problēmu, kas pastāvēja nosacīti vecajās valstīs kā Francija vai Lielbritānija, vai Itālija, vai ASV, kur bija skepse, vai šīs jaunās, pēcimperiālās valstis spēs pastāvēt. Latvija spēja pastāvēt ļoti labi.  Latvijas neatkarības atjaunošanā veiksmes faktors varbūt pat bija nedaudz lielāks tajā ziņā, ka Padomju Savienība sabruka. Un tas veids, kā viņa sabruka, bija ārkārtīgi veiksmīgs mums. Un otrs veiksmīgais faktors bija tas, ka par spīti tam, ka cilvēku spēja pašorganizēties padomju laikā bija daudz mazāka un sākotnēji valsts elitei bija daudz kļūdu un problēmu, milzīgā veiksme bija tā, ka bija Eiropas Savienība un iespēja izdarīt to, ko būtu gribējuši darīt arī Latvijas elites pārstāvji 1918.-1919. gadā, iekļauties lielāka ekonomiskā vienībā, saglabājot ļoti lielu nacionālu suverenitāti un principā valsti. Tātad mēs iegūstam labāko divām pasaulēm.  Kas ir tava motivācija, ja mēs paliekam pie tās tēzes, ka katra jauna paaudze kaut kādā ziņā veido skatījumu uz vēsturi no jauna, kāpēc tevi interesēja tieši šis periods Latvijas vēsturē?  Kārlis Sils: Ja mēs paskatāmies uz to, kas ir sarakstīts līdz šim par starpkaru periodu, diemžēl jāsaka, ka pastāv milzīgi caurumi zināšanās un konceptualizācijā. Attiecībā tieši uz Ulmaņa autoritārās vadības periodu ir divi punkti, kas ir samērā labi izpētīti. Viens ir apvērsums un tā cēloņi, un otrs ir okupācija, okupācijas process. Arī šeit ir pietiekami daudz bijušas debates, un vairāk jautājums ir - vai ieņemt vienu, vai otru pozīciju. Bet, manuprāt, kaut ko fundamentāli jaunu pateikt nav iespējams.  Turpretī attiecībā uz to periodu, kas ir starp 1934. un 1939. gadu, ir daudz lielāks konceptuāls caurums zināšanās un, manuprāt, daudz neskaidrību un neizpētītu jautājumu. Tā ir pirmā lieta. Otrā lieta, kāpēc izvēlējos 1938. gadu kā sava pētījuma beigu laiku, jo, manā ieskatā, ar 1938. gada otro pusi aizvien vairāk tas, kas notiek Latvijā, ir cieši saistīts ar to, kas notiek starptautiskajā vidē. Tas, kā autoritārā valdība organizē valsti, kas ir autoritārās valdības prioritātes un ko vēlas panākt Ulmanis, aizvien vairāk saistās ar to, kā saglabāt drošību, kā navigēt cauri starptautiskajai kārtībai. Līdz ar to daudzos veidos tas, kā tiek veidots autoritārās valdības un valsts paštēls, vairs nav tikai atkarīgs no tā, kas ir svarīgs sākotnējā uzstādījumā.  Te mēs nonākam pie jautājuma par to, kas ir šis, manuprāt, ļoti neveiksmīgais teorētiskais koncepts pēc nosaukuma nacionalizācija, kas ienāca 90. gados akadēmiskā vidē. Ekonomiskā izpratnē nacionalizācija nozīmē, ka mēģina valsts vai grupas panākt, pirmkārt, to, ka starp iedzīvotājiem primārā ir nacionālā identitāte vai etniskā identitāte, pretstatā, kā tas bija līdz 19. gadsimtam, kad primāras bija kārtas un reliģiskā identitāte. Tā ir viena nacionalizācijas puse. Otra nacionalizācijas puse ir veidot zināmu homogenizāciju jeb vienveidošanu šajā izvēlētajā nacionalizējamā grupā. Vai arī no valsts viedokļa veidot kopīgu valsts nacionālistisku sajūtu pār dažādām grupām. Tā ir nacionalizācijas jēdziena būtība. -- Kārlis Sils ir vēstures zinātņu doktors, savu disertāciju par tēmu "Sējot sēklu, lai novāktu vienotības ražu: Nacionalizācija, fašisms un imperiālisma mantojums autoritārajā Latvijā" aizstāvējis Eiropas Universitātes institūtā Florencē. Savulaik vadījis radio "Naba" raidījumu "Vēstures ķīlis", "Delfi" un "National Geography" projektus "Latvijas atklājējs", regulāri rakstījis rakstus portālam LSM.lv un žurnālam "Rīgas Laiks". Lasa lekcijas skolēniem, studentiem un vēstures interesentiem. Viņa pētnieciskās intereses ir vērstas uz Latvijas un Rīgas vēsturi starp 1860. gadu un 1940. gadu un vēsturiskās atmiņas lomu mūsdienu sabiedrībā.

Born and raised in Pasadena, California, she is a proud product of the San Gabriel Valley and a long-time resident. Jayme attended La Salle High School, where she was a standout four-year varsity basketball player, laying the foundation for a career dedicated to empowering others both in the kitchen and on the court.A devoted wife to her husband Phillip for 22 years, and a mother to three children—Isabella (18), and twins Andrew and Olivia (15)—Jayme balances her professional pursuits with her love for family. She is the Executive Chef and Owner of Mainland Catering, and the Director and Owner of Practice Makes Perfect (PMP) Basketball Camp, established in 1998. Through PMP, Jayme has trained and developed thousands of youth basketball players from the San Gabriel Valley, building a reputation as a mentor and coach who impacts the lives of young athletes.Jayme's coaching legacy is undeniable. She is currently in her 13th year as Co-Head Coach of the Flintridge Prep Girls Basketball Program, where she boasts an impressive 82.26% win record (261-54). Under her leadership, the Flintridge Prep Girls Basketball team has won the only two CIF Girls Basketball Championships in the school's history. Her achievements in coaching have earned her numerous Coach of the Year awards, but Jayme takes the most pride in having helped guide more than 20 former players to realize their dreams of playing college basketball.Before her time at Flintridge Prep, Jayme served as a recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at Pasadena City College, where she helped lead the team to six South Coast Conference championships and coached in seven consecutive State Championship Tournaments from 2004 to 2010. At just 20 years old, she was given her first varsity coaching opportunity at Pasadena High School, where she made a name for herself with three CIF playoff appearances. In 1998, she became the youngest varsity Coach of the Year in California at the age of 21. Fuggito a Milano con l'ambizione di diventare un grande giornalista, le cose non sono andate come sperava e lui si ritrova a collaborare con una scalcinata rivista scandalistica specializzata in cronaca nera. Quello non è il trionfale ritorno a casa che aveva sempre sognato, ma la richiesta d'aiuto del padre non gli ha lasciato scelta. Emilio Ercoli, l'uomo più ricco dell'isola, è stato ucciso in maniera feroce e i sospetti degli inquirenti si concentrano su Nevio Rota. Tra i due, è risaputo, non correva buon sangue e diversi indizi puntano contro di lui. Convinto dell'innocenza del padre, Pietro si mette a investigare in via informale per scagionarlo, insieme al vigile urbano Cristian Bonetti. Legatissimi fin da bambini, avevano a lungo formato insieme a Betta un terzetto indissolubile, ma i rapporti fra loro si erano guastati poco prima della sua partenza e ora Pietro è costretto a fare i conti con le conseguenze di quella rottura. Le ricerche dei due amici svelano come, dietro la maschera dell'integerrimo benefattore, Ercoli nascondesse diversi scheletri nell'armadio, e Pietro non tarda a convincersi che la chiave per risolvere l'enigma della sua morte vada individuata in uno di quegli scheletri. Il problema è capire quale. Mentre le maglie della giustizia si stringono inesorabilmente attorno a Nevio e le domande senza risposta si accumulano, a Pietro e Cristian non resta che continuare a scavare alla ricerca della verità, che forse giace sepolta in un'epoca tanto remota quanto oscura: i torbidi anni della Repubblica di Salò, durante i quali Junio Valerio Borghese, il “principe nero” al comando della famigerata Decima Flottiglia Mas, aveva fatto di Montisola una sorta di feudo personale. Jacopo De Michelis è nato a Milano nel 1968 e vive a Venezia, dove lavora come editor presso Marsilio Editori. È stato traduttore, curatore di antologie, consulente editoriale e docente di narratologia alla NABA di Milano. Appassionato di fotografia, pubblica i suoi scatti su Instagram come @geidiemme.
