Shop Talk is the brainchild of barber Steve Ferreira. This isn't your regular hair industry podcast - to be honest Shop Talk isn't really about hair at all. It's about conversations with interesting people. Basically the part of your trip to the barbershop or salon that has nothing to do with the actual act of getting a cut. We're talking life, work, wild stories, and anything else under the sun. Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/stephen-ferreira4/support
Episode Sweet 16. But this isn't March Madness, this is motherf#$&Iin Shop Talk with Steve Ferreira. And this week I'm back up here with my OG friend Mike Bodge. In an internet where mad people call themselves creative directors, Mike actually is one. Why do I say that? BC people have hired him for jobs that have that title, whereas you started a fake company on Instagram and called yourself it. But that's ok, we all pretend sometimes. Fake it til you make it. Don't hate the player hate the game. Have you noticed my show descriptions are getting crazier every week? Mike is the man on the web. Ask Nike, Facebook, Snapchat and a zillion other companies who were smart enough to do the right thing and pay the man to keep them in the game. We talk in depth about the monster that Is Tik Tok, and everyones favorite website Only Fans. We also talk a lot about politics but I'm sure it won't offend anyone as you would have to be out of your mind to be conservative and be a listener of this podcast. Guess what else? Right before we recorded this episode I got a call from my bank. Someone hacked my debit card. They hit a Pizza Hut in New Jersey and bought a month on a dating site called Zoosk. Sounds like you needed the money more than I do. Somehow I forgot to bring this up on the show. Follow Mike Bodge at the very forward @mikebodge and check out www.bod.ge to see his work... Of course I'm still chillin on the Gram @este617 and StephenFerreiraBarbering on Facebook. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/stephen-ferreira4/support

I took last week off but I'm back, bigger and deffer like LL Cool J. The King of Tattooing aka Lord Greylock aka Chris Marchetto is this week's guest. Chris has tattooed me extensively. It's always worth the ride out to Northampton - the tattoos are sick but catching up with Chris is even better. We talk about a lot of stuff from what it's like to apprentice in an old school style tattoo shop to UFC's new Fight Island, and of course everyone's favorite virus Covid-19. Super sick of all the Corona talk but that's 2020 for ya. Also, it wouldn't be Shop Talk if we didn't talk a little bit about what it takes to make it in the working world. If you keep losing jobs you should probably listen to this episode. If you're going to get tatted get it done by the best by @chrismarchetto in his studio @greylocktattoo in Northampton, MA. While we're at it, visit www.greylocktattoo.com to make your appointment and pick up some merchandise. I just filed my taxes and if you thought I was unhappy with the federal government before you can only imagine how I feel now. Help me make a couple of bucks by subscribing and sharing my podcast! I'm back this week for big episode number 10! Thank you to everyone who has checked out the show and supported it. Ryan Merry is the owner and operator of RMD. RMD (Ryan Merry Design) is a design & branding studio based in Boston, MA. We cover a wide variety of topics from the Coronavirus to staying on track and motivated when times are tough and inspiration isn't showing up. This episode was recorded a few weeks ago. Because of this there is not mention of current events regarding racism and police brutality in this episode. Both Ryan and I are firm supporters of Black Lives Matter. After an unfortunate event in which a major platform artist in the hair industry was exposed for racist behavior I shared my thoughts via a blog post on Medium. Please check it out in the link below and let me know what you think. Stephen Adams is one of my favorite haircutters and personalities in the biz. He is the owner of Moxie Salon in Minneapolis, MN a platform artist and educator and entrepreneur. He is also the host of A Super Important Podcast. Please follow @stephenadamshair @moxiehairsalon @asuperimportantpodcast. Stephen Adams is a positive and innovative problem solver, who has participated in many aspects within the beauty industry for the last 28 years. Throughout the years he has been inspired deeply by the cultures of his surroundings. Art, humor, and clothing styles kindle his imagination and helps him see the world in a different aspect of texture, density, color and movement. Stephen feels that through his working with hair, a 3 dimensional fluid object that he sculpts and intensifies with color, he is able to create that perfect balance of both Art and Science. His commitment to education, community, and his industry is what pushes him to be the best of his abilities. His growing national reputation stems from many accolades from Keratin Complex and also his work as a platform artist for companies such as Aveda, John Paul Mitchell Systems, Chromastics and ARROJO Stephen has and remains in all aspects of this industry including salon owner, educator, and artistic leader at Moxie Hair Salon. Stephen founded Moxie Hair Salon in Minneapolis in 1999 with a few goals in mind. He wanted to create an employee based salon that would be able to push the stylist to the highest quality with top education, but yet offer them full benefits such as PTO, health and dental insurance, and an IRA or retirement plan. After 6 great years of success in one location he opened a second location in St. Paul in 2005. This Brand has grown and have developed a reputation as one of the most popular high end salons in the Twin Cities. In 2016 Stephen started a new venture in the salon owner world and created a new concept, ShaireSpace, a place and home for independent stylists. In 2014 Stephen co founded the Beauty Certified Education Association, a not for profit education association for the beauty industry in the state of Minnesota that offers Continuing education to help the licensed stylist so they can renew their license. In 2016 Stephen was asked by the Governor of MN to join the Board of Cosmetology where he sits and tries to help the licensed stylist through government and law. “Take Risks” has been Stephen's motto for most of his life and he truly believes that to be successful at whatever we do, we all must have some “Moxie” and do what no one else has done.
