Originally released on the 27th of May 2015!!!  (The original episode contained) In episode 20 of the podcast we catch up with what each other has been watching and/or listening to since last we recorded.  Liam tells of his experiences in America. Next we look at the connections between some of the lost classic Doctor Who serials and a landfill in a New Mexico desert (audio segements came from ATARI: Game Over, a documentary made in 2014).  I reference some facts that The Tin-Dog Podcast's host Michael, has made in some of his past podcasts (I don't know which one, but I'm sure they exist). Once we hit the news, Liam shares his frustration with Disney and their lack of consideration towards Star Wars fans for what they'll be doing with the continuity established in the book series once episode VII comes out in December.  We discuss the news and future releases from Big Finish regarding Torchwood, Doom Coalistion, The Worlds of Big Finish (extreme crossover release) and it's potiential marketing sceme.  When we get to the reviews we first finish discussing The Two Doctors classic story, focusing on audio only, but my explaining of what happened visually to add clarification to the story.  Next we discuss the Big Finish releases: The Defectors - by Nick Briggs; Last of the Cybermen - by Alan Barnes; Death Match - by Matt Fitton; Suburban Hell - by Alan Barnes; The Well-Mannered War - by Gareth Roberts, adapted by John Dorney; Damaged Goods - by Russell T. Davies, adapted by Jonathan Morris. During the review of Damaged Goods we get into the a second discussion/debate on Doctor Who "Cannon" or what is and what is not cannon, and then back to Star Wars cannon and not cannon.  I make a reference to @DoctorSquee's Gallifrey Stands Podcast interview with Paul Cornell. We finish up the show reviewing Jago & Litefoot sereis 9, Blake's 7 Truth and Lies, and Terrahawks Vol. 1, before a quick Game of Thrones discussion to end episode 20. Nigel Chisholm, with his gregarious nature and forward-facing businesses (The Village Jester and now Feros Ferio Winery), has been a local fixture for decades. He also has a deep humanitarian focus, inspired by his father and uncles who braved Hitler's bombs during World War II. So when in February 2022, Putin's Russia launched a massive invasion of Ukraine, Chisholm felt compelled to help. He made his way to Poland and across the border into refugee camps, where he rolled up his sleeves and got busy. Then a CNN report on Bulldozer, a nonprofit group that transports fallen soldiers from the front lines back to their families, caught his attention and so he returned, this time as a driver. He's made four trips so far, with more planned. We talk about the stoic nature of Ukrainians, their cautious optimism, the need for the U.S. and Europe to continue to help them fight this proxy war against an aggressive dictator, as well as how people can help in this epic struggle. This conversation includes:   -Her journey into writing. -How she transitioned into writing for screen. -What was the process of getting representation for screen? -The collaborative process between her and Jimmy McGovern. -How she collaborates with the series directors. -What does her writing and rewriting process look like? -What does the future hold for her now?   Biography Helen Black was born and raised in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, and against everyone's advice she studied Law at the University of Hull, becoming a solicitor for ten years.  It was in Helen's exposure to lots of peoples stories that inspired her to write herself, penning the novel DAMAGED GOODS, a story about a young person accused of murder, who is physically unable to defend themselves.  She then went on to write another 10 crime novels, with the latest one called HARD AS NAILS which was published in December 2020. She has been transitioning into writing for screen over the last 7 years or so, winning a Kudos North Writers Award in 2017, a competition running in conjunction with BBC Writers Room and has been on a roll recently, earning writing credits on shows CLINK, DEATH IN PARADISE, the BAFTA nominated Single Drama LIFE AND DEATH IN THE WAREHOUSE, GRANTCHESTER.
