Who will be sitting around your table for dinner this holiday season? So many people are lonely in our city and a call on Christ's people is to expel loneliness, we are to radically love and welcome our siblings in Christ and those strangers who are not yet siblings (Hebrews 13:2). If practicing hospitality were a martial art, Brian and Heidi Dye would have 3rd degree black belts. There is so much that we can learn from this couple about what it looks like to practice hospitality in a radical way. In our fall series LIFE & BREATH we are discussing what it means to advocate for humanity at the margins. Often advocacy requires courage as systems and structures that exclude and oppress can be intimidating. We fear we might lose our belonging in whatever tribe in which we seek safety, we fear standing alone. In Dr. Russell Moore's new book, The Courage To Stand, he challenges readers, from the life of Elijah, to reject cowardice and embrace gospel courage, not the bravado of our very anxious times, but the gospel courage that calls us to be crucified. Join us for this conversation with him. Dr. Russell Moore is a theologian, ethicist, and preacher. He is currently president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.
There are three main groups that we are talking about when we talk about homelessness; the homeless, the houseless, and the unsheltered. How do we care for each of these groups, as intervention could curb human trafficking, crime, substance abuse, and so much more. No wonder the Lord is regularly rebuking His people for not caring for those who are in great financial need. Join us for a conversation with Larry McCarthy, Pastor of Compassion Ministries at The Moody Church about how to love the homeless, houseless, and unsheltered. _________________________________________ For more on The Intersection at The Moody Church go to: https://www.moodychurch.org/intersection If you'd like more information about our college ministry, led by Pastor Eric , please visit: https://www.moodychurch.org/crossroads OR for more about our High School ministry, led by Pastor Justin, please visit: https://www.moodychurch.org/revolution #houseless #homeless #unsheltered #advocacy #care #love #chicago
