Let's talk about the word "faith." It's one of those words that has evolved over time. Today, we often use "faith" interchangeably with "belief," but the Bible paints a much richer picture. The book of Hebrews, particularly chapter 11, gives us a powerful glimpse into what real, Biblical faith looks like. We see it in Abel, who offered a sincere sacrifice to God, even though it cost him his life. Enoch walked with God for 365 years – talk about an unremarkable life of faithfulness! And Noah? He built that ark for a hundred years, enduring scorn and mockery because he feared God more than men. Then there's Abraham, who left everything he knew, risking it all to follow God's call, even though he had no idea where he was going. These examples highlight some core truths about saving faith. It's not about blind belief or hoping for the best. It's about a deep trust in God's character and promises, a trust that compels us to act, even when it's hard, even when it doesn't make sense. It's about seeking God's pleasure above all else, living as strangers and exiles in this world, our eyes fixed on the eternal city He is preparing for us. Remember, friends, true faith isn't passive. It's not just a head thing; it's a life thing. It's belief made visible. It's about taking God at His Word and allowing that Word to shape our thoughts, our actions, and ultimately, our very lives. So, as we embark on this new year, let's ask ourselves: What does it look like for us to live as people of faith in our homes, our workplaces, our communities? How can we demonstrate that our faith is more than just a word we use on Sundays? Let's be like those heroes of faith in Hebrews 11, living lives that boldly proclaim, "My God is worthy of it all!"

We live in anxious times; it's a world of worry out there. Are you struggling to sleep at night due to anxiety? Are you fearful of what may happen in the future? Psalm 127:1–2 is a beautiful reminder of how God's beloved children can find peace from a world full of worry. In this sermon, we'll discover that our ability to experience the peace of Christ in our lives is dependent on our ability to trust Him in all circumstances. 5 Practical takeaways for God's beloved: how do we allow God to keep and build our lives on solid foundations? Communion with God. Time in God's Word. Community with God's people. Seek God's perspective. Rest in God's sovereignty. True rest in an anxious world is seeing the very real possibility of our worst fears right around the corner and know that the God who calls you His beloved is sovereign over it all. Psalm 127:1–2

In this sermon from 1 Corinthians 3: 1–18, we explore Paul's admonition to the church in Corinth to “be the church.” Paul's intention is to push back against growing disunity and immaturity taking place within the congregation. A church is a people, not a building, but there are good churches and bad churches. Many of us don't exactly know why a church is a good church or bad church. We lack the language to identify what the intangible quality is that we intuitively know is off. In Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, he is writing to a church that he planted, but whose leaders started to think that they've outgrown the Gospel foundation Paul laid. The Corinthian leaders were convinced that they had found a higher wisdom, a more spiritual & practical way to live. And yet, because they were abandoning the Gospel, they were abandoning the only thing that can hold a bunch of sinners together: their unity. The church at Corinth was beginning to look like the world outside the church. And if the inside of the church looks, thinks, acts like the world outside, the church is going to develop the same soul crushing problems as the outside world. If the church stops being the church, it becomes irrelevant. What does Paul suggest that a church need to stay true to the Gospel and remain relevant? 1) Personal Maturity: The only way we can handle the “good stuff.” Personal maturity is important to be able to enjoy the gift of the church. But Paul wants the Corinthian church that their maturity isn't developing because they are divided. 2) United by Humility: The only way we can go from “me” to “we.” Humility is critical to the unity of the church if we are ever going to go from “me” to “we.” If the members of the church aren't united in humility, the church won't hold together. 3) Corporate Mission to Be the Temple: The only way we can truly “be the church.” If we are to properly build a church, Paul is telling us that we must recognize we have a shared mission. All of us together, when we are assembled, are meant to be God's temple! We have a shared mission to BE THE CHURCH, to be the place where God's love is felt more powerfully, where God's truth is proclaimed, where broken people can come and find true rest, where people tossed about by the storms of this world can find true peace, purpose, and joy. If we are holding on to reasons to divide from one another, we don't stand a chance at accomplishing this mission. We must be reconciled to one another. Takeaway: If the church stops being the church, it becomes irrelevant. 1 Corinthians 3:1–18

This week on Pop Uncultured, I drink too much tequila...as you'll hear me mention about seven times in the episode, because you can't just drink without letting everybody know constantly. We recorded for a very long time, so I decided to trim the fat and save some of the erstwhile episode's Claire Michelle bits for a rainy day. She shall join Chief Koofreh and Star Seed Girl anon. This episode we briefly rekindle our fling with our new favorite "artist", Claire Michelle 2, before tiring of her very quickly and moving on forever. Inaugural, impromptu episode. Hi, I'm Dram, and this week we accidentally start a podcast. When I show my friend - JY - a rotund, succulent Detroit rapper by the name of Justin May (aka J$Money), we quickly realize that if mocking mental illness is half as entertaining to anyone else as it is to us, then we might have ourselves a decent show premise. We begin our journey with the man who ignited our passions, JustinMayTheRapper, a mumble-mouthed goofball with a dream. He leads us to confusingly attractive YouTuber Rachel Bologna, who we think it might be a crime to lust after. When we focus on the things of heaven and put them into practice, God's peace will be upon us regardless of the chaos around us. Philippians 4:4-9
Gideon's time was very similar to our own today: everyone did what was right in their own eyes. Gideon's life provides insights into navigating a godless culture and our own insecurities. Through Gideon's story, we learn that even though we may fail, God's prerogative is to save us and redeem us. Judges 6-7

We're at Defcon 3, folks. And I'd wager another loss puts us at Defcon 2. At Defcon 1, Dan Gilbert goes nuclear on Tyronn Lue. Seven games into this season, and it's looking Ty's elevated coaching seat might just be the hotseat as the Cavs have lost three straight and four of the last five. Those losses have come against some of the worst teams in the league. Justin May and Nate Smith hopped in the podcast booth to recap and then Tom Pestak parachuted into the war room with klaxons blaring to help us figure out what is wrong with the Cavaliers. We recapped Sunday's game, and went over everything that's going wrong (a lot), and the little that's going right (Kyle Korver). We looked at lineups (why isn't Crowder playing more?), slumping players (I'm looking at you, Mr. 4-28 from three, J.R. Smith), the age question (are the Cavs just too old), and whether this represents a failure of the front office to bring in players who make sense next to LeBron (or anyone for that matter). Do the Cavs have the worst starting backcourt in the NBA? Do they just need an infusion of Isaiah Thomas? Are they just content to make a mockery of the regular season? And what the heck is wrong with Tristan Thompson (one point, one turnover, zero rebounds in 19 minutes). We also talk about who would replace Ty Lue if (some of us say "when") the hotseat gets to Defcon 1. Larry Drew? Mark Jackson? Sobering thoughts...
Last week, a video of a Halo 4 multiplayer match was leaked. On the video was the name "MTW" or better known as Justin May. Justin May made big news 2 years ago with an attempted theft of a game at Pax East that resulted in his arrest. We talk with Justin about how he got the Halo 4 beta, what his ties are to the video, and is this all a big viral campaign.
Yeah, we know. That's a week old. We explained our techincal situation, didn't we? Anyway, rather than let you wait for yet another week to pass, we decided that it's better late than never. In this pre-November episode (please keep that in mind) Edie Sellers and Holy Goalie discuss: Schwarzenegger v. ESA is heading to the bigs and will decide if we get treated like movie buffs or like porn addicts Kinect got out into the wild a bit early — much to the dismay of a few You Don't Know Jack will come to consoles. Squeee! Borderlands level cap is re-thunk. Notorious jackass Justin May gets a sentence of 18 months without Xbox Live, plus some other stuff Engadget reveals photos of Playstation Phone Enjoy.
