Growing in Christ-Likeness // Luke 6:37-42 by Tri-State Community Church
Sunday, we focus again on Loving God and Cultivating Relationship with God. It is the greatest commandment. And as we know from the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, loving God is to live an 'inspiring' life.
What does it mean for us to grow in Christ-likeness? It is Pentecost Sunday, and we will end our series on the Holy Spirit by examining the third function of the Spirit - inspiring us to develop the mind of Christ. This Sunday, we are also celebrating Youth Sunday and Confirmation in The Loft! We will celebrate all of our young people who went through the confirmation process, and after worship, we will celebrate with a taco lunch just like the early Christians did. www.TheLoftLA.org
A Sermon on 2 Timothy 2:2 ME - Learning from my Grandparents Almost everything I know how to do, I know because someone took the time to teach me. I learned how to grow a garden from my grandmother and my mother. Standing in their gardens as a kid. They didn't hand me a book. They handed me a trowel.…
You need Jesus plus a stricter diet, plus visions, plus harsher spiritual disciplines. That was the message troubling the church in Colossae, and it quietly destroys the gospel every time. Colossians 1:1-14 cuts through the noise. The gospel is not just the ABCs of faith; it is the entire alphabet. When genuine trust meets this good news, it bears fruit: faith in Christ, love for others, and hope anchored in a promised inheritance. Growth does not come from bolting extras onto Jesus. It comes from gazing at Him more deeply. God has already qualified you through Christ's death and forgiveness. From that security, good works, endurance, and joyful thanks flow freely. Bible Reference: Colossians 1:1–14 Preacher: Ben Fien
The same God who commanded light to shine in the darkness and spoke trees into fruitful existence chose us to bear fruit in him. Join us as we examine the love of God, the journey of faith, the outpouring of grace, and the increasing glory in following Jesus.
The first of a two part series on Our Mission as Christ's People. This week's message comes from Ephesians 4:7-16.

God's Work of Sanctification: Growing in Christ Through Ordinary Grace Show: Anchored in the Word with Dave Jenkins Podcast: Servants of Grace Host: Dave Jenkins Show Summary Sanctification doesn't usually feel dramatic. It often feels slow, ordinary, and sometimes even invisible. Many Christians wrestle with honest questions like: “If God is at work in me, why do I still struggle?” In this episode of Anchored in the Word, Dave Jenkins explains what sanctification is (and what it isn't), how it differs from justification, and how believers can recognize biblical evidences that God is truly at work in their lives. This episode offers encouragement for discouraged Christians by anchoring spiritual growth in God's promises and the Spirit's power through ordinary means of grace. Audio Video Episode Notes What sanctification is: God's ongoing work of making believers more like Christ. What sanctification is not: Justification—our once-for-all declaration of righteousness in Christ. Why sanctification feels slow: We notice failures more than progress, compare ourselves to others, and God often grows us through ordinary obedience and trials. Biblical signs of growth: growing hatred of sin, love for righteousness, conviction rather than condemnation, and the slow growth of spiritual fruit. How God grows His people: through His Word, prayer, the local church, repentance, and the ordinary means of grace. The enemy targets both the spiritually strong and the spiritually weak—with one goal: spiritual stagnation. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef points to Jesus' warning in Matthew 13: the sower and the seed are unstoppable, so Satan focuses on corrupting the soil—your heart—so the Word won't produce lasting fruit. Dr. Youssef explains that the devil has no power over God or His Word, but he can distract, harden, and shallow out our hearts—making us resistant to truth, quick to drift, and slow to mature. Jesus highlights multiple kinds of soil where the seed suffers, and today Dr. Youssef focuses on the first two: The hardened path (wayside soil) — When someone hears the message but doesn't understand it, the enemy snatches it away. Unconfessed sin and bitterness can harden the heart, dull spiritual sensitivity, and cloud understanding (Matthew 13:19). The rocky, shallow soil — Some receive the Word with joy, but without depth they wither under pressure. New believers can fall back into old habits when mocked, and longtime believers can remain “spiritual infants” if they never mature beyond surface-level faith (Matthew 13:20–21). If you've felt stuck, spiritually numb, or easily shaken, this devotional will help you identify what kind of “soil” you've been living with—and call you to ask the Holy Spirit to make your heart fertile ground for the Truth that brings joy and freedom. Prayer: Father, show me if I am one of these types of soil where the seeds of Your Word are not able to take root. And by Your Spirit, make my heart fertile ground for Your Truth that brings joy and freedom. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Today's MY Devotional has been provided by Leading The Way. The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission. If today's devotional stirred a question, burden, or need for prayer, you don't have to walk through it alone.

Theological Maturity, Growing in Christ Podcast: Anchored in the Word with Dave Jenkins Date: November 20, 2025 Episode Summary In this episode of Anchored in the Word, Dave Jenkins walks through what theological maturity is, why it matters for every Christian, and how believers grow in it by God's grace. Drawing from Hebrews 5:14, Ephesians 4:13–14, and other key passages, Dave explains how maturity means being rooted in God's truth, steady in faith, discerning in practice, and Christlike in character. Dave also highlights how theological maturity protects us from false teaching, strengthens our witness before a watching world, and deepens our love for God as we grow in our knowledge of Him and obedience to His Word. Listen to the Episode Watch the Episode Episode Outline 1. What Is Theological Maturity? Theological maturity is not about knowing every Greek verb or winning debates. It is about being rooted in truth so that we are steady in faith, discerning in practice, and Christlike in character. Paul's vision in Ephesians 4:13–14, maturity means being anchored in truth and not tossed about by every wind of doctrine. 2. Why Does Theological Maturity Matter? Protects from false teaching. Immaturity leaves us vulnerable to error, while mature believers can discern truth from error in light of Scripture. Strengthens our witness. A mature church reflects Christ well to the world, whereas shallow faith leads to shallow testimony. Deepens our love for God. Knowing God rightly fuels true worship and obedience, knowledge that is warmed by love for Christ. 3. How Do Christians Grow in Maturity? Stay in the Word: Maturity requires consistent exposure to Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16–17). Commit to sound doctrine: Do not settle for feel good teaching, pursue truth that accords with godliness (Titus 2:1). Practice discernment: Train yourself by comparing all things to Scripture (Hebrews 5:14). Pray in dependence on the Spirit: Growth is Spirit empowered, not self powered. Stay planted in a local church: Christ gave pastors and teachers to equip His people (Ephesians 4:11–12). Live out what you know: Obedience is the mark of true maturity (James 1:22). Application Are you growing in Christ, or simply coasting? Do you find yourself easily swayed by new trends and teachings, or are you anchored in the truth of God's Word? The good news is that growth is possible for every believer. By God's Spirit, we can move from milk to solid food, from immaturity to maturity, from instability to stability in Christ.
