What if anger isn't the issue, but how we channel it? Anger itself isn't sinful. The key is being angry at the right things and directing it toward positive action, just as Jesus and the Bible show us. Reflection Questions:When you think about a time you felt deeply angry, what was the source of that anger—was it rooted in love and justice, or ego and fear? How can you tell the difference? How has anger shaped—or distorted—your relationships, either through denial, repression, or explosion? What would it look like to let love, rather than anger, have the final word?Jesus responded to anger with purposeful, holy action. What might it look like for you to “acknowledge, analyze, invite, and act” in a current or recent situation where you've felt anger?Find out more at HydeParkUMC.org/NextSteps

In the rush of life—even in ministry—it's easy to get caught up in doing things for Jesus and forget to simply be with Him. In this message, Pastor Justin reflects on the story of Mary and Martha from Luke 10, where Jesus reminds us that sitting at His feet is the better choice. As we look back on the year, we use the Examen—a powerful spiritual tool—to process our experiences through prayer, gratitude, and repentance. This message is a gentle but necessary reminder: before we serve, lead, or plan, we must first rest in His presence. Watch now and let Jesus recenter your heart for the season ahead.
Pastor Justin Hart's sermon emphasizes the importance of being "called out" as Christians, highlighting that this calling challenges us to embrace a higher standard of living through the Holy Spirit. He underscores the dual responsibilities of personal accountability and community support, urging believers to draw lines in their lives according to God's standards, while also helping others bear their burdens. The message encourages a shift away from comparison and envy towards purposeful encouragement and holiness, promoting a communal growth in faith. Ultimately, Pastor Justin calls the congregation to seize the opportunity to live out their faith actively, recognizing that their actions today can impact future generations. Speaker: Justin Hart

Send us a textIn his own words, "I started the year very poorly. It was this revelation that pointed out the obvious. Almost everything we do in life we start poorly. Flossing, algebra, potty training. Our lives are FULL of poor starts. Yet when it comes to our dreams and goals we often feel we have to do them perfect or never miss a day. And if we don't do it well enough, it's not worth doing at all. This led me to write Start Poorly, an antidote to fear and perfectionism. Start Poorly speaks to your potential, gives you the permission to be terrible, and provides steps to help you complete goals and form habits. What should we do when God tells us something we don't want to hear? How do we choose obedience instead of choosing our own way?In this message, Pastor Justin breaks down the first chapter of Jonah to share the fact that running from God is never a good choice, and that disobedience never makes life better.
