April 17th 2012, Shriver Hall. Robert Gibbs has been an advisor and strategist to President Obama from the early days of Obama’s 2004 Senate race to his sweep to the White House. Most recently, Gibbs has served as President Obama’s Press Secretary, presiding over daily press briefings at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Robert Gibbs has traveled a long road with President Barack Obama, and his rapport and access to President Obama provides intimate and insightful commentaries. Robert Gibbs is one of President Obama’s masterminds and he can speak with great authority and accuracy from a White House insider’s perspective on any of the issues that have crossed the President’s desk. Mason Hall, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. Stephan Moore is the senior economics writer for the Wall Street Journal editorial page and a member of the Journal’s editorial board. He is a daily economic commentator for CNBC TV and Fox News Channel and a frequent university lecturer. Mr. Moore is the author of five books. His most recent, Return to Prosperity: How America Can Regain its Economic Superpower Status, was a finalist for the F.A. Hayek book award. In 2007, he received the Ronald Reagan “Great Communicator” award from the Republican Party for his advancement of economic understanding. From 1999-2004, Mr. Moore served as founder and President of the Club for Growth, a 25,000-member organization dedicated to helping elect free market, tax-cutting candidates to Congress. In 2003-2004 the Club for Growth raised nearly $22 million, making it the biggest single money raiser for Republican candidates outside the party itself. From 1983 to 1987, Mr. Moore served as the Grover M. Hermann Fellow in Budgetary Affairs at the Heritage Foundation. In 1987, he was research director of President Reagan’s Privatization Commission. In 1988, he was a Special Consultant to the National Economic Commission. Mr. Moore has also served as a Senior Economist at the Joint Economic Committee under former Chairman Dick Armey of Texas.Mr. Moore is a graduate of the University of Illinois and holds an MA in Economics from George Mason University. Mason Hall, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is the 49th mayor of Baltimore, promoting legislative and policy initiatives that improve people’s lives: safe streets, quality public schools, and neighborhoods that are strong, vibrant, and engaged. Prior to her mayoral election, Mayor Rawlings-Blake has had a remarkable political career in Baltimore. In 1995, she was the youngest person ever elected to City Council at the age of 25. From 1998 to 2006, she was an attorney with the Baltimore Office of the Public Defender. Mayor Rawlings-Blake served as City Council Vice President from 1999 to 2007, followed by City Council President since November 2007. Mayor Rawlings-Blake has been honored with numerous awards. The National Congress of Black Women named her a Shirley Chisholm Memorial Award Trailblazer. In 2007, the Daily Record named her one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women. The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs named her one of Baltimore’s “Young Women on the Move.” She has also received the “Hearts of Love Recognition Award” from Aunt Hattie’s Place, and the “Passing the Torch Legacy Award” from Baltimore African American Real Estate Professionals. Mayor Rawlings-Blake’s distinct position in the Baltimore community is reaffirmed in her many positions on boards and commissions throughout the city. In 1992, Mayor Rawlings-Blake earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Oberlin College. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1995.
