The Paul Finebaum Show podcast is an enjoyable and entertaining listen, as long as you're not expecting a full-time and highly analytical sports show. The variety of topics covered is refreshing, but some of the callers can be a bit unruly. A suggestion to improve the show would be to add a gong to wrangle in some of the more rowdy callers.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the legendary status of Paul and his producers. The dynamic between them, particularly with Dwayne, who often provides near-heart attack or brain aneurysm-inducing moments, is what keeps listeners hooked. Listing when Dewayne calls in the show notes would be greatly appreciated by avid listeners.
On the other hand, one of the worst aspects of this podcast is Elle Duncan's contribution. Many listeners would much rather listen to Matt Jones or Braden Gall for six months straight than hear Elle Duncan speak for five seconds. Her opinions on college athletics are nonsensical, irrational, and negative. This type of content feels like the approach that MTV took around 10-15 years ago, which could potentially harm ESPN's reputation in the long run.
In conclusion, despite its flaws, The Paul Finebaum Show podcast brings joy and entertainment to listeners. It fills a void for those who are not satisfied with the UK's lackluster coverage of College Football. The show offers gossip, talking points, and hilarious calls from some of America's most unintelligible individuals. Although there may be room for improvement in terms of handling ads during segments and reducing calls from fans outside SEC territories, overall it is a well-balanced show that provides insights into college football news with great guests and passionate callers like Jim from Tuscaloosa and Larry from Shelby. Keep up the great work Coach Finebaum!
