There is a lot happening in Alabama sports right now, and this video hits the biggest storylines from both basketball and football. We start with the controversy at Auburn, where Bruce Pearl retired in September 2025 and Steven Pearl took over as head coach, a move that has sparked heavy criticism over nepotism. ESPN reported Bruce's retirement and Steven's succession last fall, and that debate has resurfaced this week with Paul Finebaum calling Bruce Pearl's public comments about helping his son get the job “pretty embarrassing.” From there, we turn to the SEC Tournament, where Alabama is sitting in a strong position in Nashville. The official bracket has Alabama on the double-bye line, while the tournament runs March 11–15 at Bridgestone Arena. That sets up a huge opportunity for the Crimson Tide to make a deep run while the rest of the league fights through the early rounds. Then it is over to Alabama football spring practice, where one of the biggest storylines is the quarterback competition between Keelon Russell and Austin Mack. On3 highlighted that battle as one of the top spring questions for the Tide, while also noting that wide receiver Ryan Williams is now going by Ryan Coleman-Williams. 247Sports also reflected the updated name and the quarterback storyline in its recent Alabama spring coverage. We also dig into the bigger concern around Alabama's offense: experience. With spring practice underway, there is real attention on the rebuilt offensive line and how quickly the new-look unit can come together around whichever quarterback wins the job. That is the kind of issue that can define Alabama's ceiling in 2026. Finally, we zoom out to the national college sports picture, where Nick Saban and Urban Meyer were both part of a recent high-profile White House roundtable focused on issues facing college athletics, including NIL and the broader structure of the sport. That makes this conversation bigger than just Alabama and Auburn, because the entire model of college sports is still shifting in real time. Did West Virginia make a mistake? A recent ranking by On3's Andy Staples has some WVU football and sports fans in general talking. Staples ranked WVU 9th out of 10 schools in terms of "happiness" with their 2010s conference realignment moves—placing them near the bottom of the list. In this video, Couz breaks down the Staples ranking and explains why he strongly disagrees with this assessment. Is the travel burden really enough to outweigh the benefits of Big 12 membership? We look at the landscape of college football since the collapse of the Big East, the alternative options (or lack thereof), and why the Mountaineers might be exactly where they need to be. In this video, we discuss: The Staples Ranking: Why On3 put WVU at #9. The Travel Factor: Is the "Eastern Island" narrative overblown? Success on the Field: How WVU stacks up against other realignment "winners." Couz's Take: Why Andy Staples missed the mark on this one. What do you think? Should WVU be higher on the "happiness" scale, or has the move to the Big 12 been a disappointment? Drop a comment below! The GameAbove Sports Bowl, formerly the Motor City Bowl, is no more. On3's Brett McMurphy reported earlier this week the Detroit-based bowl was shutting its doors, ending a 29-year run. It debuted as the Motor City Bowl, rebranded as the Little Caesars Bowl in 2009, shifted to the Quick Lane Bowl in 2014 and finally the GameAbove Sports Bowl in 2024.The bowl's inaugural matchup — on the day after Christmas — was Ole Miss against Randy-Moss-led Marshall, the Mid-American Conference champion. The Rebels won, 34-31, including a game-sealing strip of Moss by linebacker Broc Kreitz. Our Sponsors:* Check out BetterHelp: https://www.betterhelp.com* Check out Underdog Fantasy and use my code CHAMPIONS for a great deal: https://underdogfantasy.com* Check out Underdog Fantasy and use my code CHAMPIONS for a great deal: https://underdogfantasy.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
