Week 3 of the college football season is in the books and it did not lack drama. South Bend was rocking as #8 Notre Dame hosted #16 Texas A&M. A game that came down to a botched PAT and a late TD saw the Aggies upset the Irish 41-40. Ross Dellenger was in attendance and chats with Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey about the scene. They discuss how good this A&M team really is and if Notre Dame can overcome this 0-2 start or if their playoff hopes are gone.Another game that came down to the wire saw #6 Georgia squeak past #15 Tennessee in an overtime thriller. Joey Aguilar and Gunner Stockton have been standouts for their respective teams this season and the guys chat about the impact both of these quarterbacks are having. They also discuss the parity in the SEC and how competitive the conference is this season from top to bottom.Later, the guys discuss the scene at Brian Kelly's LSU press conference following their win over Florida. They analyze whether Kelly was justified at being upset by the first question asked to him, how LSU's offense needs to improve as the season goes on and the expectations on Kelly in year 4 at LSU. Finally, the guys take a look at the quarterbacks everyone was talking about coming into the season and discuss why they seem to be struggling at the beginning of the year. Were the evaluations severely incorrect, or is it too early in the season to pass judgement on some of these quarterbacks? Plus, Andy, Ross and Steven discuss the new world of quarterback transfers. May the trend of bringing in a top qb prospect and his offensive coordinator begin to increase? Evidence suggests this may be the way of the future.Get your Week 3 recap from College Football Enquirer.(2:45) - #16 Texas A&M upsets #8 Notre Dame(17:43) - #6 Georgia survives #15 Tennessee(22:54) - What do we know about the SEC after three weeks?(31:04) - Brian Kelly sounds off on the media(49:51) - What QBs may be overrated?(54:48) - New wave of OC/QB transfer combo(58:29) - Teams who may be looking for a new coach(1:02:03) - Other notable games from the weekend Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:

Week 3 is upon us! After only two weeks, the college football season has not disappointed as it's delivered on entertaining games and big surprises. There is no reason to believe Week 3 will be any different as it is headlined by a huge game in South Bend. 16th-ranked Texas A&M visits 8th-ranked Notre Dame. After a close loss to Miami to start the season and a bye in Week 2, the Fighting Irish have a lot to prove to backup the preseason hype. With no ranked teams currently remaining on their schedule, would a loss to the Aggies all but eliminate them from the CFP conversation? Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey debate this topic as they preview the game. Plus, there was a lot of drama during the week about AP voting. The guys share their thoughts on the situation and talk about times they messed up when they had an AP vote. They also share whether or not the AP should change their voting system. Should we have a year-round poll, even in the offseason?Later, Ross shares his Congressional Minute that is much more than a minute. The future of college football is being discussed in Washington D.C. today with the SCORE Act (Student Compensation and Opportunity through Rights and Endorsements Act) and the Sports Broadcasting Act being the two cornerstones of the conversation. Both of these acts may drastically change the future of the sport and college athletics in general. Ross breaks down the details of each of these acts and the impact they could have. The guys then discuss these monumental decisions and what they think the end result will be.Finally, Andy, Ross and Steven make their picks for this week's I've Got A Feeling with Georgia, Texas A&M and Washington State getting the nod from the crew. Altogether the crew's record is 1-5, but there is hope this week will drastically improve that record. The college football season is going into its last week of non-conference games for most teams. Many fans may be looking forward to the excitement a conference schedule brings, but the final week of non-con games is still creating plenty to look forward to. One of those games is #18 South Florida visiting #5 Miami. The new darlings of college football have taken the college football world by storm. They began the season taking down previously ranked Boise State, and then last weekend they upset then 13th-ranked Florida in 'The Swamp.' What is it about coach Alex Golesh's team that is leading to this success, and can they keep it going against yet another highly-ranked opponent? These are some of the questions Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey answer. Plus, is there really a path that both USF and Tulane could make the playoff? One of the guys believes so and gives you the exact scenario it could happen. Also in the show, the guys discuss another big matchup of the weekend. This one is a conference matchup as Florida visits #3 LSU. Florida's Billy Napier has set himself directly back on the hot seat after last weekend's upset, but the coach that will be across the field this weekend has come to his defense. LSU's Brian Kelly spoke to the media this week and praised Billy Napier. The guys discuss why Kelly decided to make this move. They also talk about the history of these two teams facing each other and what they see from this matchup. Finally, Andy, Ross and Steven talk about the Big 12 suspending one of their officiating crews after making some egregious mistakes in the Kansas vs. Missouri game last weekend. What do they think about public accountability for refs and the punishment that was handed down? Is this something we could see other conferences do more of to create more transparency? The guys discuss what exactly happened in this situation and how they feel about how the Big 12 handled the situation.Just a few more days until it's game day again. #15 Michigan travels to Norman, Oklahoma to visit #18 Oklahoma for the only top 25 matchup of the weekend. Michigan's quarterback, Bryce Underwood, made headlines in the offseason when he signed a massive NIL deal to flip his commitment from LSU to Michigan. The multi-year deal was reported to be between $10 - 12 million and left a large impact on the college football landscape. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey explain the impact this deal had on college football and what effects we are seeing because of it. They also discuss how this deal came to be and compare Michigan to Oklahoma ahead of their matchup. Plus, they chat about the Big 12 taking a different stance than the Big Ten and announcing that they are welcoming Dave Portnoy with open arms to their stadiums and campuses. Later, a different take on NIL is discussed. Since its inception, NIL has been a huge talking point across collegiate athletics. The media has offered up pros and cons, but much of the conversation has been about the negative impacts of NIL. Ross Dellenger wrote a story exploring the other side of that. He talks about his story on Duke quarterback Darian Mensah. The transfer from Tulane, who grew up with little money in a single-parent household, has changed his family's life after signing an NIL deal this offseason for a reported four million dollars per year. The guys discuss Ross' story and dive into the positive impact NIL can have for student-athletes and their families. Mensah and Duke prepare to host #11 Illinois this weekend. Finally, the guys preview what games they are looking forward to this weekend. After going 0-for-3 with their picks last week, the guys hope to do better as they make their picks for the weekend. Arkansas St., Kansas and Fresno St. are the focus of the pick 'em segment. The first full Saturday of college football is in the books! A few games are left on the Week 1 slate, but plenty of drama has already been provided.Saturday saw a huge clash of titans, in Columbus, Ohio, as #3 Ohio State hosted #1 Texas. Two first-year starting quarterbacks were at the helms of both offenses, and it showed as defense owned the day. The low-scoring affair concluded with Ohio State's defense coming out on top as the Buckeyes took down the Longhorns 14-7. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey breakdown the game. Has Arch Manning been overhyped, or is the heavy criticism coming a little too soon? Does Ohio State look poised to make a run at repeating as national champions? Plus, Saturday's College Gameday at the Texas vs. Ohio State game was Lee Corso's final show. He went out a winner on his 431st headgear pick, ending the same way he started, by picking the Buckeyes. He then watched the game from the press box and Ross tells a behind the scenes story of Lee Corso joining him up in the press box to watch the game. Later, the guys chat about some more Saturday drama. The biggest shock of the day was #8 Alabama being upset by unranked Florida State. An upset that only Lee Corso saw coming. The Kalen DeBoer era has had some slip-ups that were rarely seen by his predecessor and it has people wondering how much longer he may last in Tuscaloosa. The guys share their thoughts on Coach DeBoer's situation in Alabama and what Florida State did to be successful. Are the Seminoles a team to be reckoned with this season? Plus they dive into one more game as they recap #9 LSU defeating #4 Clemson. The truth behind Dave Portnoy's Ohio State 'ban' + the new SEC conference game schedule

It was reported Tuesday night that Ohio State banned Dave Portnoy from their stadium. The Barstool Sports owner is joining Fox's pregame show "Big Noon Kickoff" this season; a show that ends inside the stadium of the game it is previewing, before kickoff. It was assumed, by the public, that Portnoy would be among the pregame crew in the stadium each week. The show for Week 1 is at Ohio State, which would create an issue if part of the pregame crew could not end the show in the stadium. It now appears the report of this ban from Ohio State may not be completely accurate. As our own Ross Dellenger reports, Portnoy not being allowed in the stadium is due to more than just Ohio State having a problem with Portnoy. Ross, Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey explain what is really going on behind the scenes.Later in the show, the SEC recently announced it will shift its conference schedule to nine games starting in 2026. Among these nine games will be three "annual" games for each school. Andy, Ross and Steven discuss how the conference goes about determining what these "annual" games are, how this will affect the schools and how this shift may affect the SEC.Finally, we are just a few days away from the start of Week 1 of the college football season! A week that will see a lot of intriguing matchups, including Baylor visiting Auburn on Friday night. Ross recently sat down with Baylor head coach Dave Aranda to discuss the upcoming season. Aranda spoke about what is different with Baylor this year and the changes Baylor has made in NIL. On Thursday's episode, we made our predictions for Michigan's impending sanctions coming out of the Conor Stallions saga. On Friday, the verdict came in. Ross Dellenger may now also be called Nostradamus because he was spot on with his predictions. Over $30-million in fines and a three-game suspension for head coach Sherrone Moore were the main highlights from the ruling. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey join Ross in recapping the reaction to the ruling and discussing where Michigan goes from here.Expanding the College Football Playoff has been a talking point since the format's inception. It has grown from four to twelve teams, but that does not seem to be enough to some in college football. While sixteen seems to be a natural progression, a much larger number was suggested recently. Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti threw out the idea of a 28-team playoff and sent the college football world into an uproar. Was this suggestion just a ruse for a more preferable plan? Why was this the only playoff idea that was reported on? How realistic is a 28-team playoff? The guys answer all of these questions and more as they look toward the future of the College Football Playoff.Later in the show, they discuss Virginia Tech's athletic director, Whit Babcock, and his presentation to the university's Board explaining where college football is headed and his pressing need for more funding. What might a super league look like in the college football landscape and how close are we to its arrival? Is the constant desire for change and money ruining the sport for the fans? Andy, Ross and Steven explain the crossroads college football is at after Babcock's comments. Finally, there was a recent change in the FPI over the weekend. A change that came without any games being played and not much notable news that affects the product on the field. Some SEC teams were bumped up and some ACC teams were knocked down. Could Arch Manning win the Natty as a first-year starter? + What punishments should Michigan expect?

Six of the top eight teams in the first AP poll have a first-year starter at quarterback. However, the experienced quarterbacks are lurking on teams just outside of the top eight. What might this mean as the season begins to unfold? Will experience win out or can guys like Arch Manning and Dante Moore overcome their lack of on-field experience? College Football Enquirer's Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey debate if they have more faith in experience or the first-year guys. Plus, not all of these teams' quarterback races are decided. What have the guys heard coming out of Ohio State and Notre Dame about who their signal callers will be this year? Later in the show, the guys discuss the NCAA's announcement that Friday will be when they issue the punishments against Michigan football for their sign stealing scandal. A two-year process will finally come to a close. Ross gives a behind-the-scenes look at what the process to come to this decision has been like and what kind of penalties the NCAA can actually inflict on the school. Andy, Steven and Ross give their predictions on what they think the result may end up being. They end the show with a discussion about the Big 12 ADs' vote to solidify an existing policy related to throwing items onto the field. After the first two violations in a game, teams receive a 15-yard penalty. Ross shares his report about this decision and the guys discuss how this is directly connected to Texas Tech's tradition of tortilla throwing. How serious is this matter and what items should other Big 12 teams be throwing? Week 0 is next week. College football is almost back, and the news continues to fly. Come hear about all of it on today's College Football Enquirer!(6:06) - Can a first-year starter win it all?(27:22) - Michigan sign stealing penalty predictions(45:50) - Big 12 ruling jeopardizes Texas Tech's tortilla tradition(59:10) - Ross' Bites & Booze column Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:

We are back! After a bit of a break, your favorite college football podcast has returned! Some new voices have joined the show with the departures of Dan Wetzel and Pat Forde. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey join Ross Dellenger for College Football Enquirer's newest version! There was quite a bit of news that happened while we were away, so it's time to catch up. Schools can pay athletes directly now. Revenue sharing has arrived! This has already caused an immediate shift in the college football landscape and schools are taking full advantage. One team who is capitalizing on that is Vanderbilt. Huge hype and ticket prices have followed. How has this change affected the college landscape? Has it changed for the better? These questions and more are what Andy, Ross and Steven answer. As athletes continue to get paid, guardrails around how they can be paid continue to be developed. Enter the College Sports Commission. This commission is supposed to make sure there is fairness across the board in how athletes are being paid. How exactly they are doing that is a bit more complicated. Luckily, Ross can break it all down.Another huge change on the horizon has to do with the transfer portal. This topic has been discussed at length. Should there only be one portal window rather than two? When should that be? Change is coming and while there is some disagreement among conferences for when the portal window should open, a shift appears imminent. The guys explain what the change may look like, and they give their takes on when the portal should open.We are just a few weeks away from the start of the season, so naturally we have to talk about what coaches are hoping to still have a job by the end of the season. While some coaches' buyouts are too big for them to have any concern this year, others do not have that luxury. Texas Tech's Joey McGuire and Oklahoma's Brent Venables are two coaches that look to be in win now situations. The guys discuss the coaches' futures with their respective programs. They also dive into how the new college landscape of paying players may have led to some coaches' jobs being saved. Finally, Andy, Ross and Steven take a look at some upset ready matchups in the Week 1 slate. Are Boise St., Mississippi St. and Kentucky on upset watch? The guys chat about what they are looking at in those Week 1 games.A jam-packed episode of College Football Enquirer begins now.
