Southeastern 16 previews Mississippi State's trip to Arkansas, a game shown at 3 Central on the SEC Network. The Razorbacks are 4 1/2-point favorites according to FanDuel. Topics include: Both Arkansas and Mississippi State have blown games in spectacular fashion. The game could be decided by turnovers and the ability to get stops, which would seem to favor Mississippi State. Taylen Green has been spectacular but has been prone to mistakes. Mississippi State put up perhaps the best offensive numbers that anyone has put up against an great Texas defense last week. The Southeastern 16 crew previews Kentucky's trip to Auburn in which the Wildcats are 10 1/2-point underdogs. We preview the game, which kicks off at 6:30 Central on the SEC Network. Topics include: Did Auburn turn a corner with a win at Arkansas. Jay Greeson has a strong opinion about this! Will the Tigers go with incumbent starter Jackson Arnold or backup Ashton Daniels, the dual-threat Stanford transfer who played well last week in limited duty? The key for Auburn may be to run the ball with Jeremiah Cobb. Kentucky's Cutter Boley has put up some significant offensive numbers but also made critical mistakes that cost the Wildcats on the scoreboard. After a terrific performance against Texas, the Wildcats' defense gave up 56 points at home to Tennessee. Texas travels to Mississippi State as a 7 1/2-point favorite per FanDuel in a game that starts at 3:15 Central. The game may be seen on the SEC Network. Topics on our preview include: Texas's offense has been awful against competent opponents as quarterback Arch Manning has struggled to show any type of consistency. And the offense has particularly struggled on the road, managing just eight first downs last week at Kentucky. The Longhorns' defense forces lots of turnovers, is loaded with pro prospects and has been elite. Mississippi State's Blake Shapen is the more proven quarterback in the matchup and has led State to some nice wins this year. Will the Bulldogs have running back Fluff Bothwell for this one? Mississippi State's defense has greatly improved since last year and has forced turnovers at a high rate. Jay Greeson and Chris Lee preview Tennessee's trip to Kentucky, a game shown at 6:45 Central on the SEC Network in Week 9 of the 2025 college football season. FanDuel favors the Vols by 9 1/2. Topics include: In a bit of a reset year given losses after the 2024 season. coach Josh Heupel has the Vols a few plays from being unbeaten thanks to a high-scoring offense paced by Joey Aguilar, DeSean Bishop and Chris Brazzell. The Tennessee defense has bled yards and points, but some of that is because of tempo (there are 150 plays in the average game the Vols play). So Kentucky needs to replicate last week's 26-to-8 first-down edge vs. Texas to have a shot an an upset. However, the Tennessee defense has also been good at forcing turnovers and turning them into points, something that Kentucky (two touchdowns with its offense on the field vs. South Carolina) has found problematic. Tennessee is the team with more to play for, but Kentucky showed it hadn't given up on coach Mark Stoops with a 395-177 loss to Texas in overtime last week. This series has more often been close than not in recent years in Lexington. Auburn's road trip to Auburn (11:45, SEC Network) might be the most fascinating Week 9 SEC matchup. The Southeastern 16 crew tells you why. Arkansas has, debatably, the SEC's best offense. Quarterback Taylen Green is a dual-threat nightmare and running back Mike Washington has been terrific. And, offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino is now the head coach. They'll face an Auburn defense led by Keldric Faulk that's been both elite and consistent. Auburn allows 17.4 points and 317 yards per game and has not allowed more than 24 points in a game. However, Arkansas's defense is awful. The Razorbacks allow 32.7 points and 444 yards a game and struggles to tackle and defend the run. The Tigers, with quarterback Jackson Arnold and Jeremiah Cobb, have the ability to run the ball quite well. However, an injury to starting center Connor Lew could be costly. Auburn also has talented receivers in Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton, but the Tigers can't get them the ball. Arkansas has remained motivated and played teams to the wire in Petrino's two games, while Auburn seems to struggle with confidence as rumors swirl about coach Hugh Freeze's future. It's hour two of TexAgs Live, and we kick things off with Marty joining us on the Buppy's Catering Hotline. Across CFB, several coaches are being let go as programs struggle to meet expectations — including the recent firing of Billy Napier. For A&M, the defense had an off day this past weekend, missing key tackles and leaving plenty to clean up on both sides of the ball. The Aggies now turn their focus to a tough matchup against LSU in Death Valley. Despite some inconsistencies, the Aggie offense looked explosive, and players like KC Concepcion and Marcel Reed stood out with strong performances against Arkansas. Overall, the team continues to show that they're all in with Mike Elko, producing some excellent moments throughout the season.
