In August and September, Tramway plays host to Italian artist Pietro Fortuna, as he takes up a 1-month residency in the main exhibition space, Tramway 2. Positioning the gallery space as an outdoor forum or piazza – referencing the historical idea of an open, public space where people would come together to discuss and debate – Glory will explore the idea of ‘community’ and how a sense of identity can be expressed individually and communally. Working with groups who already have links with Tramway – who already form part of the building’s own ‘creative community’ – the artist will undertake a two week exploration period in the gallery space, thereafter opening the space up to the public from Saturday 28th of August to Sunday 12th September.
