Every U.S. Dollar in Research & Development (R&D) tax credit yields $20 in new economic activity. With that kind of return, why don't more small businesses take advantage of these tax credits? Answering that question is what led Lloyed Lobo on his fintech journey. * With a background in software engineering, Lloyed was already familiar with technology companies and enjoyed a successful career leading sales and marketing teams as well as being a serial entrepreneur. One venture was Boast Capital – a consulting firm focused on securing R&D tax credits for businesses. That's when the answer to the unclaimed tax credit question became clear – the reason more than $200 billion USD goes unclaimed globally each year to fund innovation is because of the slow, archaic application-to-funding process. This led to the development of Boast.AI, a software designed to automate the tax credit application process so companies can get more money faster and with reduced audit risk. * In this episode, Lloyed not only shares how you can use Boast.AI to fund your small business' innovation, but he also gives insights on how he and his team built this successful tech startup. Discover the business infrastructure they designed to support rapid growth not only in their customer base but also in their employee base - an increase from 30 to 100 in just five months! As a bonus, you'll also learn Lloyed's four stages for building a startup as well as the ingredients for his scale recipe: customer-centricity, community, and relentless prioritization. * If you want to know how you can claim R&D tax credits to fund your company's growth and how to scale that growth sustainably, then you don't want to miss this episode! *

Girl, We need to talk about Yellowstone, Season 4, Episode 3: "All I See Is You"Ok- so let's get something straight- In this episode we refer to a couple of actors who we couldn't place- The first- Mark Pellegrino from American Rust- his instagram handle has "rosspelle" in the name, hence Krystle's weird name reference to Mark Paul Gosselaar (Yeah it's a stretch).Second- the actress that plays Mia is Eden Brolin- the daughter of prolific actor Josh Brolin, and of course, her famous grandfather, James Brolin (who, yes, is married to Babs herself, Barbara Streisand). Kudos to you Eden, you're a great actress, which is why we dislike your character as much as we do!Mayor of Kingstown is the new show on Peacock Plus that they've advertised heavily on commercials between Yellowstone, American Rust was on Showtime, and the podcast that Aleta refers to about the cult in Lake City is "You didn't Ask-The Podcast"-check it out!!Ok, so we do actually recap the Yellowstone episode too- discussing our mutual disdain for Monica & Mia, Moe's surprise (SPOILERS) family, and the haters talking about the show being boring- hey, there were guns a blazing in the beginning of the show haters, don't come at us! We also get to see a softer side of Walker, which was nice, since he's really starting to get under Lloyd's skin. Jimmy gets sent off with Travis and the crew down to Texas, and Beth realizes that maybe things aren't as they seem with Carter. So come along with us for this wild ride, take a listen!Click the link in our bio or search "Girl, We Need to Talk" wherever you get your podcasts! If you like what you hear, please rate, review, & subscribe!#yellowstonetv #americanrust #mayorofkingstown #edenbrolin #joshbrolin #jamesbrolin #kevincostner #bethandrip #theduttons #newpodcasts #newepisode

THE dry bulk derivatives market has nearly doubled in two years to become twice as large as the underlying physical market on which it is based. This week's Lloyd's List podcast examines this extraordinary and little-known evolution in commodities freight trading underway in the global shipping sector. John Banaszkiewicz, chair of the Baltic Exchange's FFA Brokers' Association and founder of Freight Investor Services, one of the biggest brokers of freight futures, gives an update on this often overlooked trade. Funds that speculated on freight futures made returns of 100%, he says as algorithmic and so-called black box or algo-trading are also helping to boost liquidity. “It's just like buying stocks and shares,” Banaszkiewicz tells Lloyd's List. You won't find a more comprehensive and easy-to-understand overview of the dry bulk FFAs anywhere else.

What fun and gorgeousness! Time flew with two-time Emmy-nominated actress, Lee Purcell, and, world's collided all over the place. It is a small world, after all. From her runway days at three (I know!), Native American ancestry, multi-generational military mantle, to dancing, singing, regional TVing', Lee went on to best 500 hopefuls, handpicked by Steve McQueen hisself (who mentored Lee in all things life, career & fitness––sweet surprise story there), to co-star with Kirk's son, fairly green, Michael Douglas. Lee later co-starred with Kirk, and they're not her only father/son dynasty co-stars. Not a bad place to start. Follow that teaming with Orson Welles, earning an Emmy nomination alongside Mark Harmon, and then another co-starring with Beau Bridges, and father Lloyd. In fact, Lee had lots of Bridges. Hysterical. Old friends with Jeff and his later girlfriend, Candy Clark, well, there are stories then and now, there, too. There's Malcolm McDowell, Chadwick Bostwick, Jon Voight, a brand spanking new, Nicolas Cage, in Valley Girl (his first feature film), and that's barely scratching the Lee Hollywood leading men, surface. The most guest-starring roles on Murder She Wrote, and loads of other TV appearances, cross-genres. We talked fabulous friends, Donny Most, Anson Williams, Geri Jewell, Roslyn Kind, Joey Travolta, and his important inclusion film, Carol of the Bells, and the wondrous Donna Pescow––how we connected, and how those soul sisters found each other and just knew. What a delightful, easy, breezy sit down with this stunning, age-defying beauty, who managed to manifest her dreams and continues to do so. Looking forward to her upcoming, Chocolate Is Not Better Than Sex. You're telling me. SPONSORED CONTENT from Wärtsilä Voyage, in association with Lloyd's List Five years ago, it all sounded pretty easy. Create a connected digital ecosystem onboard, gather a steady stream of data from sensors, send the required data via satellite to the operations centre ashore, enable ship to work with shore to optimise performance. Job done. But reality has kicked in. Apparently, shipping is a little more complex than we had thought. Some maritime businesses have invested in advanced technology – and in the specialist talent needed to get the technology to work efficiently and reliably. But others continue to regard smart shipping as a fantasy. Not quite smoke and mirrors, perhaps mist and reflections. Tech businesses are now much more aware of the need to do two things: listen to their customers' expectations; and educate them about whether or not those expectations can be accommodated. Wärtsilä Voyage President Sean Fernback has responded to the industry's slow journey to decarbonisation by going back to basics. The buzz words have been pushed aside, the focus has shifted from the innovation itself to the customer, and the dots are being connected between the ship, automation, navigation, and propulsion. In this podcast, which looks at the future of technology in maritime, Mr Fernback discusses why Wärtsilä has chosen to work in partnership with some players, while seeking opportunities to collaborate with others. He acknowledges that the business can't build the entire ecosystem alone, so will likely focus on core expertise. He explains why the relatively limited number of ships, and limited amount of data available, will encourage tech businesses to share their resources in spite of the prevailing competitive spirit. And he addresses the tussle for tech talent in which shipping is losing the battle of the pay checks. “Marine is at the bottom of the digitalisation curve,” compared to other industries,” he says, and is likely to stay behind in the race for tech talent – with the shining exceptions of cruise shipping and the larger container lines – until the next generation of digital natives replaces the digital laggards. Finally, Mr Fernback reveals new thinking about the future. “We are moving away from the ideal that Asia has to align with Europe – probably the other way round.” Not before time, some would say. A fascinating insight into the potential and pitfalls in the rapidly evolving world of maritime tech.

Greetings Heathens! Wow, we are in the middle of November already! Whew, time flies. In today's episode of Talk Heathen, baby faced Kenneth Leonard is joined by smooth talker Lloyd Evans. It's going to be a great show!Let's get to calls! Ofir from Israel is a nihilist and would like to talk to us about it. Lloyd asks a couple questions about life having meaning. But if there is any personal meaning to life, then nihilism is a moot point. (There are different “flavors” of Nihilism, but most subscribe to the idea that life has no meaning.)Aaron in Australia is up next, he is wondering what causes someone to convert to Atheism. He knows it's a process and there is usually not one argument to make this happen, but is there something at the end that really pushes folks to deconvert. Lloyd puts a pin in it and explains it further.Returning caller Setuf in Spain wants to talk about abortion and bodily autonomy. Sigh. Again. This has been the 3rd week of them talking about this topic. They keep turning it into a moral issue. Kenneth explains in a good and general way what bodily autonomy is and how it's applied and he tries his best to further explain the situations that a person would look into terminating a pregnancy. Setuf just doesn't want to listen because it doesn't adhere nor fit their narrative. OH! They are a presup! They continue to talk past Lloyd and pretty much ignore everything said! Listen to Lloyd Setuf, he is fantastic.Rick in Arizona's family is voicing concern about his soul after coming out as an Atheist. Kenneth dives in and talks about how it opens the door for further conversation depending upon how questions are asked.LeChef in Canada is wondering what our objection is to Christianity. They also changed their topic from the objection of Christianity to the 7 day cycle and lied to the call screener. Don't do that. But anyway, he goes into his spiel and Lloyd gets to hear it for the first time. He devolves the conversation into condescension and his reliance on the claim that the 7 day cycle is exclusive to the Bible is laughable. “The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.” -Stephen Hawking. That's our show for this week, please continue to be safe in your area, wear your mask, and please please PLEASE get vaccinated if you can. Jim Lambert, the author of Sub Rosa and Other Short Stories, discusses his creative foray into the genre of short storytelling. This book is a great choice for a Christmas gift or a gift to yourself if you want to dig deep and learn more about Louisiana history. As a successful attorney, Jim has built a lifetime experience of telling his clients' stories through writing briefs for the court; but he was always constrained by the facts! His heart is exemplified by his involvement in Kairos Prison Ministry on Death Row at Angola. In his current quest to blend the facts surrounding actual historical characters with intriguing stories of fictional marginalized characters, he has been able to start within his own mind, get in touch with his creative spirit, and has hit the mark with compelling stories that pull you in to read more. (Sort of how Netflix pulls you in within six seconds to watch the next episode!) Jim thinks short stories should be the dominant literary genre for today's times. He's always loved reading short stories and in retirement, he has hit the mark in taking his creativity to a new level that we can all enjoy, no matter how busy we are. Many years ago he read a book about Frank Lloyd Wright, by T. C. Boyles, "The Women," which was told from the point of one of Lloyd's graduate students recounting the life of a talented but complicated man. It inspired Jim to use real people and speak from the vantage point of a fictional character. One of his stories in the book focuses on Lee Harvey Oswald, as a 14-year-old young man who grew up in New Orleans. "Lee and Me," is told from the fictional perspective of Oswald who got into a fight and was helped by a classmate. Lee was grateful for the help, and as you read the story you have to wonder what could have become of the young Lee if his life had taken a different turn. Jim Lambert's connection to New Orleans runs deep. He was born in New Orleans and was adopted from a Baptist orphanage. As a young lawyer, he moved back to New Orleans in 1976 and then moved to Lafayette in 1978, where he has kept a home ever since. Many of his stories are steeped in New Orleans culture in a manner that only a native could share. Each chapter in Sub Rosa shares a compelling fictional story of events that happened in Louisiana, such as the following: a young lawyer sent to investigate the murder of Black troops in the Jim Crow South, and a mental patient obsessed with the film Harold and Maude. Dwayne, the protagonist of the opening story, “Blood in My Hair,” is serving a life sentence for unintentionally contributing to the death of a police officer; the prisoner, who's known as “Cowboy,” spent much of his adulthood riding bulls in rodeos, has been craving a similarly perfect, adrenaline-filled moment ever since his incarceration began. In “Find Franny Now,” a woman named Lydia gave up on optimism after her autistic son was diagnosed with brain cancer and her husband subsequently left her; her general lack of hopefulness extends to Franny, the titular missing teenage girl, who Lydia believes has no chance of ever being found. In each story, Lambert reveals the humor and tragedy running through the lives of these unique human beings. Jim shared during the interview of his childhood growing up in Alexandria and how the "Lost Cause" permeated his community and affected the way people grew up understanding the world. He would come to understand how actual riots and killings that occurred were never shared in the history books. As an example, rumors of a race riot during WWII on January 10, 1942 in Alexandria that resulted in 18 or 19 black troops being killed were smoothed over by reports shared by the U. S. Govt. after Pearl Harbor. This knowledge deeply impacted Jim's understanding of how events are officially documented by official government reports and how historical events can be skewed. Jim recommends "The Sky is Gray,

Carli Lloyd officially retired on Sunday as one of America's most decorated and celebrated soccer players. She's won everything from the World Cup to Olympic Gold Medals to FIFA World Player of the Year. Perhaps more than the achievements on the pitch, Lloyd was known for her maniacal drive and singular focus to become one of the best players to ever lace up a pair of cleats. But that approach also had its downsides – during her career the iconoclastic midfielder clashed with coaches, the media, and even her own family. Today, The Athletic's Meg Linehan tells us how Lloyd is processing the end of her sometimes tumultuous career and whether or not, at the end of it all, the USWNT legend is finally at peace.Read Meg Linehan's story about Carli Lloyd: https://theathletic.com/2909879/2021/10/25/im-at-peace-carli-lloyd-seeks-a-special-ending-to-a-career-long-chase-for-greatness/See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In addition to the hardships he overcame as a youth and the struggles in high school and at the Naval Academy, Keaser's wrestling career also saw the highs and lows. Wrestling is a fickle beast. Wrestling doesn't care how good you are. It can fell the mightiest of men and women. It is humbling.  Following Keaser's triumph in 1973 at the World Championships, he experienced another form of agony, but it was wrapped in Olympic uniqueness.
