Tilly Mütter has repeated her roving reporter trick from EMTC 2022. This time she talks to various conference attendees at the BAMT conference in Leicester in May 2024, providing a variety of interesting perspectives on the weekend. the theme of the conference was 'About All of Us, For All of Us, By All of Us', with the primary aims of highlighting and promoting the development of Music Therapy. There are some familiar voices here (to Music Therapy Conversations listeners) along with some new ones. In order of appearance, Tilly spoke to: Naviella Dowds, Anthony Voelcker, Kelly Fraser, Duncan Campbell, Marianne Rizkallah, Helen Odell-Miller, Hakeem Leonard, Kirsty Jane, Kendra Bodden and Karen Diamond. A big thanks to all of these contributors! Before that, Tilly and Luke also share their own (somewhat hazy) recollections in the introduction. You can find another view from Marianne Rizkallah on her blog here, and no doubt there are more conference reports incoming. There were some fresh faces at this conference, new formats, and many inspiring moments, in a different sort of venue - plenty to reflect on and learn from!
Scottish minister Duncan Campbell was instrumental in the Hebrides Revival (also called the Lewis Awakening) and there encountered spiritual warfare. In talking about that experience, he discusses the Christian's need to stand before God with clean hands a pure heart. Throughout the message, he also implores his hearers that God must be all-in-all, rather than the self-centered emphasis within evangelism, music, and even our own consecration.Learn more about the Bravehearted Voices Podcast and how you can be discipled and grow spiritually by visiting braveheartedvoices.com

He was determined to find a way to help children that was grounded in solid research, was focused on quantifiable results and considered the return on investment. A two-year research project identified that the best way to create real change is to start working with children early and provide each of them with a long-term, consistent relationships with caring adults. Based on these findings, Duncan founded Friends of the Children in 1993. Duncan wasn't finished! For over 30 years, he has hoped to see the Christian faith community serve vulnerable children through mentoring. In January 2013, Duncan Campbell was introduced to Josh White, the lead pastor of Door of Hope Church in Portland. Duncan shared his vision for the church to be an active participant in serving the needs of vulnerable children in the city. Together with Josh, they formed a vision to birth a faith-based mentoring program out of Door of Hope. This program would become Faithful Friends Mentoring Program.Faithful Friends began in March 2013 and now has 20 church partnerships and over 70 active mentor/mentee matches.https://faithfulfriendspdx.org/

Duncan Campbell is well acquainted with revival and the movement of God. In this message he recounts some personal experiences with revival and the principles that govern revival (seed throughout Christian history). Campbell's burden is to exalt God above men—which is a driving distinction between God-produced revival and man-centered services.Learn more about the Bravehearted Voices Podcast and how you can be discipled and grow spiritually by visiting braveheartedvoices.com
Duncan Campbell defines revival as a community saturated with the presence of God and the restoration of New Testament Christianity in times of decline. In this talk, Joel encourages us to have the faith that revival is possible in London, and that every person has a part to play.
UB40, a reggae band from Birmingham, UK, emerged in the late 70s from humble beginnings, with members scraping by on unemployment benefits. The band's original lineup consisted of friends from Moseley School of Art and local schools: Robin and Ali Campbell, Earl Falconer, Brian Travers, Jimmy Brown, Norman Hassan, and later, Michael Virtue and Astro. They named themselves after the unemployment benefit form "UB40" and quickly became known for their left-wing political stance, aligning themselves with causes like Rock Against Racism and anti-National Front protests. In 1980, UB40's debut single "King b/w Food For Thought" reached the UK Top 5, setting the stage for their success. Their first album, Signing Off (1980), was a blend of reggae, dub, and politically charged lyrics, reaching No. 2 in the UK and staying in the charts for 72 weeks. By 1981, their second album, Present Arms, solidified their reputation, with the hit single "One In Ten" becoming an anthem for the unemployed and a protest against the UK government's policies. UB40's third album, UB44 (1982), marked a transition, but it was Labour of Love (1983) that truly catapulted them to international fame. This album of reggae covers, including the iconic "Red Red Wine," became their first UK No. 1 album and produced their first US No. 1 single. This success established UB40 as reggae ambassadors, introducing reggae to new audiences worldwide. Throughout the 1980s, UB40 continued to release successful albums, including Geffery Morgan (1984), Rat In The Kitchen (1986), and UB40 (1988). Their collaborations with Chrissie Hynde on "I Got You Babe" and "Breakfast In Bed" were also hits. The late 80s and early 90s saw the band achieve global success with Labour Of Love II and Promises and Lies, the latter featuring "Can't Help Falling In Love," which became another US No. 1 hit. In the mid-90s, the band took a break, with members pursuing solo projects. However, they returned with Guns In The Ghetto and Labour Of Love III , continuing to tour extensively. Their influence and success were underscored by their contribution to the England rugby team's 2003 World Cup campaign with "Swing Low" and the Grammy-nominated Who You Fighting For (2005), which featured politically charged songs and love ballads. In 2008, Ali Campbell left the band to pursue a solo career, replaced by his brother Duncan Campbell. The band continued to release albums and tour, with TwentyFourSeven receiving critical acclaim. Despite Astro's departure in 2013, UB40 continued to tour successfully, playing sold-out shows across the UK, Europe, and beyond. UB40's enduring appeal lies in their ability to blend reggae with socially conscious lyrics, making them one of the most influential reggae bands in history. Their journey from Birmingham's working-class roots to global stardom is a testament to their talent, resilience, and commitment to their music and message. To celebrate their 45th anniversary, the band has just released the album UB45. Joining us this week to share the story of their rise to international fame is original member, drummer Jimmy Brown. If you were to rate your current experience reading or listening to the Word of God, how would you fare? If you're like most guys, Bible engagement can be challenging. While some are very disciplined with their time in the Word, others struggle to prioritize and focus. Our most recent Spiritual Health of Men Survey found that you aren't alone. We saw some decline from the previous year in the number of respondents who responded to the question of whether they spend regular time in the Scriptures. So what can you do about it, and how can you get better at spending time daily in the Word? The good news is that there are resources, translations, and organizations to help you. On this month's podcast, we're excited to speak with Duncan Campbell. Duncan is the Vice President of National Programs for the Canadian Bible Society, one of our ministry partners here at Impactus, with a mission to help people hear God speak, in Canada and across the world. He is an author, blogger, visionary, husband, father, grandfather, adventurer, and incorrigibly curious. Today, we'll talk to Duncan about his spiritual journey, the mission and many projects of the Bible Society, and how they can help men engage with the Word. ---------------------------------------------- Website: https://impactus.org/ Check Our Resources for Men: https://impactus.org/resources/ ---------------------------------------------- Follow us on Social Media Facebook Instagram Linkedin Twitter This Is Me TV
In this episode, we do a retrospective on a dialogue that took place in 1974 during the first summer session of the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado. The dialogue was called “Psychology East and West” and explored a number of differences in understanding and approach to the notion of ego between so-called “Western psychology” and what were then thought of as “Eastern” spiritual traditions. The participants included the well-known spiritual teachers, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Ram Dass, as well as the co-founder and Vice-President of Naropa, John Baker, and the therapist, Jim Green. The dialogue was moderated by Duncan Campbell. It has to build a different model' Why Christian O'Connell is ready to be networkedIn today's podcast we talk to Christian O'Connell, who arrived from the UK six years ago and took his show on Gold 104.3 to Melbourne's number one breakfast show. The conversation was based around the launch of O'Connell's mentoring service, Finding Fire, but it was also a well timed opportunity to subtly remind a market distracted by the arrival of the Kyle and Jackie O Show into Melbourne that he's the biggest voice in the FM market.Gold's owner ARN Media has been trying to mastermind a takeover and breakup of rival Southern Cross Austereo. Most likely that would have seen O'Connell move across to a national metro breakfast show on Triple M.If a deal doesn't happen - and there's nothing currently on the table although it's likely to return - O'Connell might instead see his show networked into Sydney on ARN's WSFM, with Jonesy & Amanda - Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller - potentially making way by switching into a national drive slot.In the conversation, O'Connell makes clear that he has been talking to ARN's management, including CEO Ciaran Davis and chief content officer Duncan Campbell, about taking his live show into other markets.“I want the show to be more widely available,” he tells Unmade's Tim Burrowes. “That's my drive for the next couple of years. I did a national show in the UK for 12 years and I loved it. So here, I want the show to be more available. I do something different and I think that's of value.”And O'Connell is talking about more than a “best bits” package. “The magic of radio for me is live. I always has been. There's nothing better than when you hear a radio show and in the moment something opens up.”The conversation also focuses on how O'Connell has developed as a leader of his team, including lifting them up when The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick show briefly overtook them in the ratings. But O'Connell insists that being number one is not what matters to him. “If I was to design a show to be number one, it would be really bland. It would be like The Fox. It would be made of blandishments. I have to make a radio show that is about my values.”He also says that he deliberately resisted listening to the much talked about boundary-pushing first hour of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson's Kiis show into Melbourne, warning that rival shows are letting themselves be distracted by the arrival“You've got to be really careful that you don't let other shows and their mindsets bleed into your own. I'm hearing other shows that are doing that now. They're changing in the wrong way.”O'Connell also reveals that he still hankers after a return to talking about sport on the radio. In the UK he hosted the long running BBC sport-comedy show Fighting Talk. “One of the things I'd love to do is a version like that. That show was the most fun I've ever had in radio. It was a whole hour of opinions, arguments. Sports is entertainment and it should be treated like that.”Meanwhile, O'Connell sees the networking of big shows like his and the Kyle & Jackie O Show as the direction the radio industry is taking. “It's very clear what Ciaran's direction is, what he wants to do. It's very clear what I want to do. Radio here is ready for the next evolution.“Kyle coming into Melbourne is the start of it. Radio needs to change. It has to build a different model.”Unmade Index improvesThe Unmade Index improved from Tuesday's all time low, bouncing back by 1.28% to 466.5 points yesterday.Nine recovered by 1.52% to a market cap of $2.1bn while IVE Group was up 2.57%.The only stocks to fall were ooh Mediua, down by 0.74%, and Sports Entertainment group, off 7.14%This week's episode was edited by Abe's Audio.Time to leave you to your Thursday. We'll be back with more tomorrowHave a great day.ToodlepipTim BurrowesPublisher - Unmadetim@unmade.media This is a public episode. Luke has kindly invited us to his house in the Cotswolds, which he shares with his husband, Duncan Campbell, and a pair of enthusiastic whippets. I was intrigued to learn that this modern-day dandy comes from a bog-standard commuter town, and like many of the people I talk to on this podcast, his creative impulses offered a route out of mediocrity. He tells me his very personal backstory of being estranged from his father at a young age, and what it was like to come out as gay to his family. We talk about his witty, whimsical interpretation of the English Country House Style, why he believes you should invest yourself financially and emotionally in a rental, and why he chose to paint his London flat in ‘Pepto-Bismol pink' before getting rid of it a few days later. This episode was recorded in person at Luke's cottage in the Cotswolds. For more: Check out the work of Luke Edward HallSee images of the home he shares with Duncan Campbell over on our sister website, InigoVisit The Modern House websiteProducer: Hannah PhillipsEditing: Oscar CrawfordGraphic Design: Tom Young and Ben Tucker Music: Father Hosted on Acast. Have you ever felt your need for God's power in your life? Do you know that your whole life and even our world can change when we experience the Holy Spirit? At many times in world history and in British history, Christianity has been written off as dead or dying. That's what people think is happening right now. But its not true. Reports of the death of Christianity, including in the UK, are greatly exaggerated. While it's true that many liberal and traditional churches are in terminal decline, many others are growing and starting other churches. What's more, young people are often the biggest grouping in these churches. Today there are an estimated 650 million Christians around the world who would describe themselves as Charismatic or Pentecostal meaning that they have experienced the power of the Holy Spirit (See ‘Fire from heaven; the rise of Pentecostal Spirituality and the Reshaping of Religion in the 21st century'). Yet for all these many encouraging developments, we also live in a time when there is widespread resistance to God and where paganism and militant Islam are on the march. A greater demonstration of God's power is urgently needed. On Pentecost Sunday, we must realise that it is only a spiritual revival that is going to bring about large-scale repentance and fundamental change to our society. Revival has been well described as an ‘inrush of the Spirit into a body that threatens to become a corpse.' The word Pentecost, meaning 50, refers to the momentous day when the first disciples experienced the Holy Spirit at the time of the Jewish Feast of Weeks or Shavuot in Hebrew. This took place 50 days from the Feast of Firstfruits held at the time of Passover. It's also called ‘the feast of harvest' and the ‘day of the first fruits.' All these names show that the Day of Pentecost came at a time of great significance when Jews from all over the world gathered in Jerusalem. Although the coming of the Holy Spirit had been promised centuries before by the prophet Joel, the events of the day of Pentecost, ten days after the return of Jesus to heaven, changed everything for the previously nervous disciples and for the Christian church which grew immediately with 3000 new believers. From this day onwards the early Christians became an unstoppable force. Within weeks the whole of Jerusalem knew all about Jesus and within one generation, despite much hostility and, Christianity had spread throughout the Roman Empire. Pentecost was an amazing moment. Acts 2:7 says that people were ‘utterly amazed'. Whenever there is a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit comes everything changes both in the church and in the world. Time and again in history, when everything has so looked bleak in society, a new outpouring of Holy Spirit has produced what historian Paul Johnson called ‘profound seismic movements.' We see in Acts chapter 2 some key developments that took place on the Day of Pentecost. 1. The Holy Spirit came suddenly to them (Acts 2:1-2; Malachi 3:1; Luke 2:8,13-14; Acts 9:3; Acts 16:25-26 2. The Holy Spirit came supernaturally on them (Acts 2:2-3; Luke 4:18; John 3:8) 3. The Holy Spirit spoke powerfully through them (Acts 2:4-6,11-18,38-39; 1 Corinthians 14) Apply 1. The Holy Spirit came suddenly to them. The disciples, who had been continuously praying and preparing to receive the power of the Holy Spirit, turned up for yet another daily prayer meeting only to quickly discover that this day was like no other (Acts 2:1-2). God is the God who acts suddenly (Malachi 3:1). After so many prophecies and centuries of waiting for the Messiah, Jesus/Yeshua suddenly appeared. At His birth, in one moment the shepherds were doing their usual boring work guarding the sheep, then out of nowhere heaven suddenly burst in on them (Luke 2:8,13-14). In another moment in time the Jewish zealot Saul was going about his daily business of persecuting followers of Jesus when his whole life and future suddenly changed (Acts 9:3). And when he himself was persecuted as a follower of Jesus, he again experienced how out of nowhere God could turn everything around in a moment (Acts 16:25-26). This sudden coming of God has been experienced by many in past UK revivals (i.e. George Whitefield, the Wesley brothers; Duncan Campbell). David Matthew in ‘Revive Us Again', describes revivals like these as God's purpose going into ‘Turbo Mode', saying ‘the everyday progress of the church, slowed down by apathy, tradition, mixture and division, suddenly enjoys a surge of power, as the Holy Spirit releases the brake, barriers come down, God's people glow with life and the lost are gathered into the Kingdom in huge numbers. That kind of suddenly is what we all need today. 2. The Holy Spirit came supernaturally on them. The coming of the Holy Spirit was not just something that was stirred within them but a power that came on them from heaven above (Acts 2:2-3; Luke 4:18; and see 20th Century Azuza St. revival). Have you had this experience of God's power coming on you? When the disciples experienced the power of the Holy Spirit, there was a loud noise because of a powerful wind. Now anyone who has experienced a hurricane, a tornado or a typhoon knows just how powerful nature can be. You cannot ignore it. The Holy Spirit is also like the wind. In the New Testament, the word for “spirit” is “pneuma”, which can also mean “wind” or “breath.” Like the wind, the Holy Spirit comes in suddenly and seemingly from nowhere, transforming the atmosphere and changing everything. The Holy Spirit, like the wind, moves wherever He want (John 3:8). Also, there were tongues of fire that could be seen. Fire symbolises the purity, presence and power of God which Moses, Elijah and now the disciples experienced (see also T.B. Barratt baptism in the Holy Spirit on October 7th 1906). 3. The Holy Spirit spoke powerfully through them (Acts 2:4-6). It's important to note that although we can speak in unknown God given languages that 1 Corinthians 14 speaks of, here we see that the disciples spoke in languages that could be clearly recognised by visitors from all over the Roman world (Acts 2:11-12). Speaking in tongues in languages, both known and unrecognised, have been experienced by many Christians since then and can be your experience also when you are filled with the Holy Spirit. But also, you can have a new confidence and authority in speaking of Jesus in your own language. When the Holy Spirit came on them Peter and the disciples lost all their fears and spoke boldly of Jesus (Acts 2:14-18). And he ended with a declaration that the Holy Spirit can be experienced by all people in all generations. (Acts 2:38-39). In other words, every day can be a day of Pentecost. So let's get right will God and receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit. For this is the way that we will be changed, our families will be changed, our churches, and our cities and nations will be changed. Everything changes when the Holy spirit comes in power.
Have you ever felt your need for God's power in your life? Do you know that your whole life and even our world can change when we experience the Holy Spirit? At many times in world history and in British history, Christianity has been written off as dead or dying. That's what people think is happening right now. But its not true. So let's get right will God and receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit. For this is the way that we will be changed, our families will be changed, our churches, and our cities and nations will be changed. Everything changes when the Holy spirit comes in power.

2 Chronicles 7:13-14 My dear people, there is a price to be paid for revival — it's a painful affair! Duncan Campbell put it this way; “If you want revival, get right with God. If you are not prepared to bring the "last piece," for God's sake stop talking about revival, your talking and praying is but the laughing-stock of devils. It is about time we got into the grips of reality”. The Welsh revival of 1904-05 began with a young man seeking the face of God by the name of Evan Roberts. For over a decade he had prayed in private for God to send a revival to Wales. At the age of 26, Evan attended a meeting at which a preacher named Seth Joshua prayed these famous words, “Lord, bend us”. As Roberts heard these words, the Holy Spirit pressed Him sore and said, “That's what you need”. Upon bended knees, with tears streaming down his face, Evan Roberts cried aloud, “Bend me, bend me!!”. That same year, God used Evan Roberts as an instrument of revival, as God swept into Wales. You say, Lord, send revival — Brother, don't ever pray these words unless you're willing for God to begin with you!!

The premise of the episode is this class is there and taught by a con-man played by the brilliant Matt Berry. Several members of the main cast take his class, an actual con where they give him money to learn nonsense and by take are being grifted. They turn to Jeff Winger, a failed lawyer to fight back. After watch The Sting. Two grifters team up to pull off the ultimate con. Following the murder of a mutual friend, aspiring con man Johnny Hooker teams up with old pro Henry Gondorff to take revenge on the ruthless crime boss responsible, Doyle Lonnegan. Hooker and Gondorff set about implementing an elaborate scheme, one so crafty that Lonnegan won't even know he's been swindled. As their big con unfolds, however, things don't go according to plan, requiring some last-minute improvisation by the undaunted duo.Robert Redford and Paul Newman are masterful.Community gang then does an homage to the Sting themselves.According to Duncan Campbell, “The heist films permit us to live vicariously as criminals: exciting risk-takers who break the law without hurting anyone. This victimlessness – or as close to it as possible – is crucial in the mythologizing of a heist.” Premise of DiscussionSo, why is it that we root for Ant-Man? Summary: “Revival comes from heaven when heroic souls enter the conflict determined to win or die-or if need be, to win and die!”― Charles Finney Historically, most outpourings, awakening, revivals, and moves of God have come in the midst of some of the most thunderous and difficult times. It is the Church awakened that can bring healing and hope in the darkest of times. We are in a critical time in history and our only hope is to see revival and awakening. Let's continue to cry out to God for revival and healing. Share this message with a friend and subscribe for weekly encouragement and inspiration! I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning the 23rd of January, 2023 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan with a thought for today. If we start in the book of Jeremiah:“But let him who glories glory in this,That he understands and knows Me,That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these, I delight,” says the Lord.”Jeremiah 9:24And then we go to the New Testament to Philippians 3:10 where Paul says:“that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death…”That I may know him... What is it that Jesus expects from me and you today? Well, Micah 6:8 says it very plainly. The Lord wants us, today, to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God.You see, being a Christian is not a case of following a set of rules. It's not learning a whole lot of scripture verses, a parrot can do that - probably better than you or I. It is to know Him intimately as a person. You see, you can know the Bible inside-out but if you have never met the author, it just makes you a history teacher, doesn't it? It's spending time with someone that helps you understand them.My wife Jill knows what my favourite food is, she knows what my favourite colours are. I know the thing that makes Jill happy - it's not buying her a bunch of flowers. No, it's fixing a dripping tap and changing a fused light bulb. Those are the things that make my wife happy because I understand her - because I spend time with her.Duncan Campbell was a Scottish evangelist. In the 1950's he was invited to hold an outreach campaign on the islands on the west coast of Scotland. When he arrived with his little ship, probably expected to stay there for a couple of weeks, he was met with two old sisters waiting for him at the harbour. One was blind and the other was bent in two with arthritis. They asked him one question: "Mr Campbell, do you know God?" He answered: "I sincerely hope so ladies." They had been praying for revival for years on the west coast of Scotland and Jesus answered their prayers because they knew Him and they understood Him. A revival started in those islands that lasted for, I think, over a year, maybe two... People came from all over the world to see and hear what God was doing.Today, spend time learning to understand the heart of God.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

We start off the & Years war with a look at some of the major leaders, William Pitt the elder, Choiseul, Frederick the Great and Maria Teresa and the Diplomatic Revolution. Then we turn to North America, where this war was known as the French and Indian War and take the war from the small forces with obscure commanders like George Washington through the deportation of the Acadians and then look at Wolfe and Montcalm covering the dramatic seizure of Quebec. There is also a long look at the failed campaign in upper New York under Abercromby starring Duncan Campbell and the ghost who haunts him.

And a very good morning to you! It is the 1st of March 2022, Tuesday morning. And this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day. If we go to the Old Testament, to the book that they say is the oldest book in the Bible - the Book of Job:“For I know that my Redeemer lives,And He shall stand at last on the earth.”Job 19:25Wow, there is a big difference between hoping and knowing. Despite what Job suffered, and did he ever suffer, losing everything and all that he went through - he could still say, “I know that my Redeemer lives.” Our faith can never be based on feelings. There is no place in God's Kingdom for fair-weather Christians. What does that mean? Well, when the sun is shining, we love the Lord but when the dark, black clouds come over, we don't want to know the Lord anymore. In these last days, Jesus is looking for unconditional loyalty and faith in Him.You see, Job said:“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”Job 13:15Wow folks, that is commitment and we need to exercise that commitment in our lives today. You know that even before Jesus came down from Heaven to Earth the first time, Job was already talking about the second coming, because he says at the end of that verse: “He shall stand at last on the earth.” What a wonderful thing to know:“For I know that my Redeemer lives,And He shall stand at last on the earth.”Now, how do you find that kind of trust? Well, it is by knowing someone. It is by spending time with that person. You know, many years ago, I think in the north-west of Scotland in the islands, the Isle of Lewis and the Isle of Harris, they invited an evangelist to come up from Scotland, from the south. His name was Duncan Campbell and they wanted him to hold an evangelistic outreach for a couple of weeks. When the boat arrived at the harbour, there were two old sisters, the Morris sisters and they were standing on the Harbourside waiting for the man of God to come off that little boat. The one was almost blind and the other was doubled in two, she had arthritis. They asked him a question, “Mr Campbell, do you know God?” And he said, “Well, I really hope so.” Because they had been praying for the revival and that revival came and it stayed on those islands for two years. People came from all over the world just to see what God was doing.Do you and I know God? “I am not too sure about that Angus.” Well, today spend time with Jesus.Have a wonderful day and Jesus bless you.Goodbye.
Research has shown that to break the cycle of generational poverty children need long-term, relationship-based support. This support helps them to graduate from high school, remain free from involvement in the criminal justice system, and wait to parent until after their teen years, and that is exactly what Friends of the Children is doing. It is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1993 in Portland with salaried, professional mentors—and 24 children. Today they are a $33 million dollar network with over 22 locations. Friends of the Children was founded by Duncan Campbell, a successful business entrepreneur whose own troubled childhood inspired him to found the organization. Our innovative model pairs children who are in foster care or in high-poverty schools with a Friend. Each child selected for the program has a Friend by their side from kindergarten through high school graduation—12+ years, no matter what. In this episode, we are joined by two of these world changing individuals CEO Terri Sorensen and Executive Director Thomas Lee. They are here to educate us on foster care, the cases, the solutions and how each of us can get involved. Website: https://friendsofthechildren.org

KEY TAKEAWAYS:Like many of His other parables, Jesus starts this one the same way: “The kingdom of heaven is like…”We don't work to get saved into heaven, but once we are saved, we get to work for the Lord.“Can we be casual in the work of God—casual when the house is on fire, and people are in danger of being burned?” -Duncan CampbellIf you are bored with Jesus it's not because He's gotten boring.Life in a fallen world doesn't seem fair, and because we don't fully understand God and His ways, He doesn't appear fair either. The true wages of our efforts in life—our sin—is death. The landowner was trying to be as generous as He possibly could…exactly what God does for us.We don't work in order to receive a reward, we work because we've already received our reward.Don't miss God's generosity because you are too busy comparing yourself to others. When you realize what God has done for you will be marked by gratitude and generosity.
