WildOps invites combat vets to gather in places like Ansel Adams Wilderness or 11,000 ft in the Sierras or rural Montana. “We seek the isolated veteran – a big chunk of them that don't wanna be found,” says founder Jeff Morris. Team leaders don't preach to the battle-worn soldiers but find "they come to life out in the Wild.” Monika Kelly reports. [Educational Media Foundation - All Rights Reserved]

Back from Ansel Adams Wilderness, Derek and Carl review a number of items not commonly referenced by most critics (including some that really have no business being on the trail). Carl challenges Derek about his contributions to the trip and insinuates that he might be the culprit of the "rock-in-the-pack" prank. In response to an odd trivia question, does Derek believe Mary and Joseph made their journey to Bethlehem 1000 years after Jesus was born? On September 2, 1989, 41-year-old Ronald Sallee set out with some friends to spend Labor Day weekend camping in the Sierra National Forest. The men planned to hike through the Ansel Adams Wilderness on the Cassidy Trail to the San Joaquin River and fish.
