Last week, we shared Part 1 of Junaliza Chappell's story. By February of 2007, Juna was preparing to leave her husband, Timothy, and start over in California with her 3-year-old daughter, Ashley.Juna had carefully crafted her exit plan. Ashley was already in California, staying with Juna's trusted friends, Frank and Grace. Juna had moved some of her belongings into a storage unit there. She had a new job waiting for her, but first she needed to attend job training in Florida. From there, the plan was for Juna to fly back to Atlanta, get her car, and drive west. But Juna never made it to California.Timothy later claimed that he picked Juna up from the Atlanta airport and took her to Walmart to pick up a prescription. He said Juna went inside and never came back out. From the beginning, there were problems with that story, and by the time investigators tried to verify it, potential surveillance footage was already gone. Then the situation became even more alarming. Juna's coworker and friend, Faye, began learning more about Timothy's past. Around that same time, Timothy seemed to disappear, too, and Ashley was with him. When Timothy was eventually found, he was driving Juna's car, and Ashley was in the backseat. Inside the vehicle were belongings Juna likely would have taken with her if she had been the one driving to California, including her purse.Timothy was arrested that day, but not for anything connected to Juna's disappearance. He was arrested because he was a sex offender who had failed to register, and authorities had found Ashley in his care.In Part 2, we shift the focus to the women who kept pushing after Juna vanished. Faye kept digging. She searched for more information about Timothy's past, followed the details that did not add up, and tried to gather anything that might help keep him incarcerated. Now-retired U.S. Marshal Katrina stayed focused on Timothy from a different angle. She had already been searching for him before Juna disappeared. As new information surfaced, the case became darker, more complicated, and increasingly tied to the man Juna had been trying to leave. If you have any information about the disappearance of Junaliza Chappell, please contact the Atlanta Police Department Missing Persons Unit at 404-546-4235.Ashley has also created an email address for tips. More than three years after a Pennsylvania couple was found murdered in their suburban Philadelphia home, investigators have charged their daughter, Michelle Zajko, with orchestrating the killings. Authorities say the case is connected to the so-called "Zizians," a cult-like group linked to multiple violent crimes across the country. Learn more about your ad choices. In this follow-up episode of Zone 7, Sheryl McCollum is joined by retired NYPD detectives Tom Smith and Dan Murphy of Gold Shields to take an investigative look at the unresolved case of Stevie Bates. After revisiting Stevie’s 2012 disappearance and the 2020 discovery of her remains in Glendale, Queens, Sheryl, Tom, and Dan discuss the key questions that remain. They examine why the deleted Facebook messages raise red flags, the legal issues surrounding a squatted property, and why the discovery of Stevie’s remains, wrapped in a blanket and disposed of five feet below ground, points to someone who knew her, knew the area, and likely had help. They also urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward and help bring resolution to the case and justice for Stevie. Missed Part One? For more background on Stevie Bates’ life, disappearance, and her family’s perspective, listen to the first episode with Stevie’s cousin, Isis Jannierre: Stevie Bates Made It Back to New York. Then She Vanished Highlights: (0:00) Sheryl McCollum recaps Stevie Bates’ 2012 disappearance, her last known sighting, and the eight-year gap before her remains were found (3:45) Why unresolved cases can be especially frustrating when key investigative opportunities may have been missed (4:45) Why a warrant likely wasn’t even required for the squatted property, and what that missed window could have meant (6:00) The importance of conducting face-to-face interviews, doing street work, and reading reactions (7:15) Dan’s starting point: the boyfriend, the gap in Stevie’s timeline, and retracing her last known steps (9:00) Stevie’s relationship history, financial patterns, and the question of motive (12:45) Three crime scenes: Where Stevie was killed, how she was moved, and where her remains were found (14:15) Why working around a person of interest beats confronting them directly (16:15) Sources, leverage, and who in his circle may know more than they’ve shared (17:30) Wrapped in a blanket, buried five feet down: what the recovery scene says about planning, knowledge of the area, and who may have helped (23:00) A cold case where a long-term undercover placement finally drew out the statements investigators needed “to bring to conclusion” (25:00) Tom and Dan speak directly to anyone with information and call for a fresh NYPD cold case review Enjoying Zone 7? In 2006, Ohio State medical student Brian Shaffer walked into a crowded Columbus bar at the start of spring break — and was never seen again. The cameras showed him near the Ugly Tuna Saloona shortly before closing time. They showed him talking casually near the entrance. They showed him turn away. But they never clearly showed him leaving. What followed became one of the most baffling missing person cases in modern Ohio true crime: searches of the South Campus Gateway complex, theories about hidden exits and blind spots, questions about foul play, accident, voluntary disappearance, and a family left waiting for answers that still have not come. This episode of Terrifying & True investigates the disappearance of Brian Shaffer, the Ohio State medical student who vanished from Columbus on April 1, 2006. We examine the final surveillance footage, the search efforts, the role of camera blind spots, the theories that have followed the case for nearly two decades, and the human heartbreak behind one of America's most haunting unsolved mysteries.Brian Shaffer was not a legend. He was a son, a brother, a boyfriend, a future doctor, and a grieving young man standing at the edge of the rest of his life. Then, somewhere between a crowded bar and the outside world, he disappeared. We're telling that story tonight.

In this episode of Zone 7, Sheryl McCollum is joined by Caroline McCollum and Huck McCollum to talk about the case involving three horses who were stabbed during a barrel racing event at South Point Casino in Las Vegas. Caroline, a longtime horse rider and criminology student, shares her perspective on what it means to compete with and care for these animals, and how the open, trusting culture of barn life can become a vulnerability. Huck, a juvenile court intake officer and former public defender investigator, explains how a case like this may move through the justice system, including mental health evaluations, prior behavior, and the role social media could play. Together, they look at the trauma this leaves on both riders and horses, the security gaps it exposes, and why animal cruelty cases raise concerns about future violence. Highlights: (0:00) Sheryl McCollum welcomes Caroline and Huck McCollum to Zone 7 and introduces the Las Vegas horse stabbing case (1:00) Three horses, Sully, Detail, and Rocket, are stabbed at South Point Casino and police quickly identify a suspect (3:15) Caroline and Huck bring their own field experience, from horse riding and juvenile court to wildlife forensic training (4:30) Inside the open, social world of competitive riding and why barn access can create security concerns (6:15) Caroline weighs in on animal cruelty as a possible red flag for deeper behavioral concerns (7:30) Huck explains why police withheld the suspect’s name and how being weeks away from turning 18 could affect the case (8:15) Mental health history, school records, prior behavior, and what juvenile court may examine (9:45) The “crush theory” and how months of messages may point to fixation before the attack (13:45) Premeditation, the suspected weapon, and the suspect’s actions after leaving the barn (16:45) Caroline explains why the placement of the wounds matters and how close the horses came to dying (19:30) The permanence of social media, including how posts, messages, and saved chats could help investigators understand the suspect’s behavior (24:45) What this case may change for barn access, event credentials, cameras, and future horse show security Enjoying Zone 7? On 26 January 1966, Jane (9), Arnna (7), and Grant Beaumont (4) were last seen at Glenelg Beach in Adelaide, South Australia. Multiple witnesses reported seeing the children in the company of an unidentified man described as being in his mid thirties with a sun tanned complexion. The children were later seen at nearby locations, including a local bakery, before they vanished without a trace. On the podcast, we discuss multiple suspects linked to this case.Contact us at: weeknightmysteries@gmail.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/weeknightmysteriesTikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@weeknightmysteries

On March 19, 2004, seventeen‑year‑old Brianna Maitland clocked out of her job as a dishwasher at the Black Lantern Inn in Montgomery, Vermont. She drove off into the night. She never made it home. Her car was found butted up against an abandoned building known as the Old Dutchburn place along Route 118. Personal belongings were scattered around it. That was over 22 years ago.Today, we are speaking to two podcasters who have covered Brianna's case in-depth for years. This episode originally aired on September 30, 2024. On June 24, 2024, 21-year-old Zyanya Valora stayed up late after her parents went to bed. In the early morning hours of June 25, around 2:30 AM, she is believed to have left their home in Ojai, California. Her family suspects she was barefoot and wearing a tank top and shorts.Later that morning, Zyanya's parents assumed she was simply sleeping in, as young people often do. However, around 11 AM, her mother, Damaris, discovered that her daughter was not in her room or anywhere inside their home. Concerned, Damaris called her husband at work and began searching the neighborhood. After failing to find Zyanya, Damaris reported her daughter missing. An extensive search was conducted for Zyanya, who has autism and was considered at-risk. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office, along with other agencies, dedicated five days to searching the area. Unfortunately, despite those efforts, no trace of Zyanya was found at the time.Since this episode first aired, there has been an update in Zyanya's case. In September of 2025, after 15 months of searching, Zyanya's remains were discovered in the Ventura Riverbed in Ojai. Her cause and manner of death were later ruled undetermined. We will share more about this update at the end of the episode. If you have a missing loved one that you would like to have featured on the show, please fill out our case submission form.Follow The Vanished on social media at:FacebookInstagramPatreonSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
WARNING: THIS 4 PART SERIES INCLUDES SOME SENSITIVE DETAILS INVOLVING CHILD ABUSE AND ANIMAL CRUELTY.On April 11, 1981, 15-year-old Barbara "Barb" Cotton went out for the evening. Depending on who you ask, she was reportedly having dinner with a friend, a boyfriend, her mother, or some combination of the three. What is certain is that Barb never returned home. She was never seen or heard from again.Over the decades, several persons of interest have emerged, including Barb's own brother, Frank. Yet despite years of investigation, countless questions, and a family still searching for answers, no one has been able to definitively explain what happened to Barb.Today, we're exploring a new possibility involving a different person of interest, someone who has never been seriously examined as a potential suspect. By following the small details, taking a closer look at the family dynamics, and examining who truly had the means, motive, and opportunity, we're going to revisit one of North Dakota's most enduring mysteries and ask whether the answer may have been hiding in plain sight all along.LINKS RELATED TO BARB:FACEBOOK PAGE: https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=find%20barbara%20louise%20cotton%20NAMUS: https://namus.nij.ojp.gov/case/MP2921CHARLEY PROJECT: https://charleyproject.org/case/barbara-louise-cottonDAKOTA SPOTLIGHT: https://dakotaspotlight.com/WILLISTON PD: https://www.facebook.com/WillistonNDPDLINKS TO @CRIMEBLOGGER1983:Blog: https://crimeblogger1983.blogspot.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crimeblogger1983/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SHURLOCK1983/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ShurlockHolmes/aboutTumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/crimeblogger1983TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@crimeblogger1983KILLAFORNIA DREAMING LINKS:Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/killaforniapodPayPal: https://www.paypal.coCashm/paypalme/killaforniapodMerchandise: https://killaforniadreamingpodcast.threadless.com/Website: https://killaforniadreamingpodcast.buzzsprout.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@KillaforniaDreamingPodcastFacebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1296620370450345/Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/killaforniadreamingInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/killaforniadreamingpod/?hl=enX: https://twitter.com/killaforniapodEmail: killaforniapod@gmail.comTikTok: @killaforniadreamingpod Cash App: $KDpodcastSupport the show

Highway 16 in northern British Columbia looks, at first glance, like any other remote road: mountains, forests, rivers, small towns, and long stretches of empty pavement. But for decades, this corridor became known by a much darker name — the Highway of Tears. This episode of Terrifying & True investigates the real history behind one of Canada's most devastating true crime cases: the disappearances and murders of women and girls along Highway 16 and nearby routes, many of them Indigenous. Officially, the RCMP's Project E-PANA includes eighteen cases, but families, advocates, and Indigenous organizations have long argued that the true number may be higher. We examine the victims, the isolated geography, the lack of safe transportation, the failures of policing and media attention, and the systemic conditions that allowed danger to persist for decades. This is not a story about one cursed road or one simple explanation. It is a story about grief, survival, ignored warnings, and families who refused to let their loved ones disappear from memory. The Highway of Tears remains one of the most haunting examples of how true crime can expose something larger than a single mystery: a pattern of violence, silence, and systemic failure that continues to demand answers. We're telling that story tonight.

On December 3, 2025, deputies were called to the home of 57-year-old Dr. Randall Beallis, his 40 year old wife, Charity Beallis and their six year old twins on South 1st Avenue in Bonanza, Arkansas. The bodies of Charity, and her two children, a boy and a girl were in the home - all of them had been fatally shot. On March 4, 2026, there was a shocking twist in the case. According to the sheriff’s office, the evidence reviewed so far did not point to another person being responsible. Investigators now say Charity killed the children - and then killed herself. Are our favorite superheroes just modern myths—or are they clues that we were made for something more? In this episode, cold-case detective and Christian apologist J. Warner Wallace takes you on a deep dive into the "theology of superheroes." Drawing from Marvel, DC, and other comic-book universes, J. Warner explores how the attributes we assign to our heroes—unlimited power, knowledge, justice, mercy, sacrificial love, and even "friendly neighborhood" presence—mirror the classic attributes of God described in Christian scripture and theology. Why do we long for an all-powerful but good savior? Why do stories about incorruptible heroes, just vigilantes, and self-sacrificing champions move us so deeply? And what if our obsession with superheroes isn't an escape from reality, but evidence of a deeper, God-shaped longing we can't shake? Along the way, J. Warner connects specific heroes and scenes—from street-level protectors to godlike cosmic beings—to the eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, just, loving, and present God of the Bible, and builds a cumulative case that our stories are echoing a much older, truer Story. On December 19, 2025, 31-year-old Corey Bryant disappeared from the Bemidji, Minnesota area. In the weeks leading up to his disappearance, Corey's life had become increasingly unstable. Loved ones noticed that he seemed withdrawn and fearful of the people around him. Corey reportedly hinted that things had become “weird” where he was staying and suggested he no longer felt safe there.Concern escalated in January 2026 when Corey failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing. As family members began comparing notes, they realized no one had spoken to him in weeks. Then they learned that several people connected to Corey had allegedly told others that he was dead.At the same time, reports surfaced that Corey may have been seen in late January, but those claims quickly became muddled. The witness later backed away from what they had initially reported, leaving Corey's family to wonder whether it was an innocent mistake or something more intentional. The last known communication investigators have been able to establish from Corey was on the night he disappeared, when he spoke with a friend by phone. During that call, Corey reportedly said that he was afraid of the people around him. He ended the call after saying he would call back. No one ever heard from Corey again.Nearly two months later, Corey's black Kia was discovered abandoned on a trail, with his phone found inside the locked vehicle. For Corey's loved ones, the circumstances surrounding his disappearance have only become more unsettling with time. The stories are inconsistent, the timeline is difficult to untangle, and Corey's family is still searching for the truth. If you have any information about the disappearance of Corey Bryant, please contact the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office at 218-333-9111.If you have a missing loved one that you would like to have featured on the show, please fill out our case submission form.Follow The Vanished on social media at:FacebookInstagramPatreonSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

After 24-year-old Brianna Vibert disappeared in the early morning hours of July 15, 2017, investigators were tasked with trying to piece together a timeline from scattered surveillance footage, witness statements, and conflicting accounts from the people who had been around her that night. But as the days turned into weeks, and then weeks turned into years, the case only became more complicated. The deeper they looked into the circumstances surrounding Brianna's disappearance, the more questions they uncovered. Timelines overlapped in strange ways, and what social media posts captured in real time seemed to conflict with later statements. Some people who initially appeared cooperative later stopped speaking altogether, while others began making comments that many found deeply unsettling.Family members continued digging, and the case began expanding far beyond the question of who Brianna was last seen with. Concerns about drugs, exploitation, unstable relationships, possible trafficking, and other missing women in the Flint area all started to collide with Brianna's story in ways that became difficult to untangle. And nearly a decade later, many of the same questions still remain unanswered. If you have any information about the disappearance of Brianna Vibert, please contact the Flint Township Police Department at (810) 600-3250 or Crime Stoppers of Flint and Genesee County at 1-800-422-JAIL (5245), visit P3Tips.com, or submit a tip through the P3 Tips mobile app.If you have a missing loved one that you would like to have featured on the show, please fill out our case submission form.Follow The Vanished on social media at:FacebookInstagramPatreonSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
