This is the sixth year in a row that Ben Louis has been my first guest of the year. I absolutely love starting the year this way. Ben is a beacon of positivity. Five years ago, when I first met Ben, he was an intern at Radio Free Brooklyn. We all knew he was on his way to big things. I think it's taken more patience and hard work than he could have originally imagined, but today I think Ben is pinching himself thinking, "Is this my life?" and it's poised to get even better. Ben is working with his radio heroes and interviewing celebrities like Vivica A. Fox, Chaka Khan, Babyface and so many more. Also Ben has just had a one-year anniversary of living with his girlfriend, Scarlet, and it's going great-fun to hear about too! If you go back to the first episode in 2018, the very beginning of Ben's radio career, you can hear Ben has just fallen in love with radio and it's disrupting his life—his girlfriend had just dumped him—if only Ben could have looked into the future at that moment— More about Ben @benlouisradio/ Listen to Ben's personal and professional journey as recorded with Dr. Lisa annually since 2018: Ben Louis: First session DLG1204 - 2018 Fellow RFB "Ben Talks" host, Ben Louis talks recent gf breakup. Ben Lous: 2nd Session, DLG1840 2019 Ben Louis, host of RFB's BEN TALKS, comes in for a follow-up session! Ben Louis: Third Session - DLG220 2020 Fellow RFB host, Benjamin Louis of BEN TALKS, talks candidly about his personal growth. Ben Louis: Fourth Session DLG260 2021 Ben Louis, former RFB host is on the cusp of living his dream! Ben Louis: Fifth Session DLG286 2022 Former RFB host (now at Sirius), Ben Louis, comes in for an annual check in with Dr. Lisa
I take personal pride in Ben Louis's success as I met him 5 years ago when he first started his career in radio at Radio Free Brooklyn. I encouraged Ben as I watched him get his dream career on track at Sirius XFM with hard work, careful planning and tenacity. I got to know Ben and talked him off of a ledge occasionally when he would get frustrated cause I believed in him. You can follow his journey with me by listening to the past 4 years of Ben being my first guest of the year here. This time Ben is exploding with so much great news—a promotion, an apartment, a wonderful relationship! But there are challenges—one in particular that we discuss. As usual Ben doesn't hold back. He's 31 now with adult stuff to deal with. Here's the earlier episodes— Ben Louis: First session DLG1204 - 2018 Ben Lous: 2nd Session, DLG1840 2019 Ben Louis: Third Session - DLG220 2020 Ben Lous: Fourth Session DLG260 2021
This is the third year in a row that Ben has been my first guest of the year. Ben is 30 now, and if you follow Ben's story, this year is a triumph! Through hard work and going back to school, Ben has taken his beginnings as a volunteer at Radio Free Brooklyn 3 years ago to a dream job at Sirius XM. Recently, Ben was actually one of 4 people from Sirius to be on a Zoom with LL Cool J! Although personally I am sad to have seen Ben leave RFB for a great career move, I am secretly proud and THRILLED. But that's not all, Ben has improved his relationship with his family and "the ladies." Ben is in a healthy, supportive relationship which he is very satisfied and happy in. It is nice, (inspiring, really!) to see someone progress in their life in such a positive way, through their own honest hard work and efforts, But let's not get too idealistic here—he was late in getting our management reports filed a few times. If you're interested in a deep dive on Ben's up's and down's (our first episode includes a break-up), here's the links: PREVIOUS EPISODES: Ben Louis: First session - 3 years ago Follow up to that session, 9 months later. Ben Louis: Second Session - 2 years ago Also we talk about Ben's girlfriend's business—check it out!! http://www.royalgoodiesbox.com/
Ben Louis is one of our RFB hosts with his top rated show, https://radiofreebrooklyn.com/show/ben-talks/ I know Ben a bit from the station and his show, but he surprises me with his openness about discussing his recent breakup with his long-time girlfriend. Ben hasn't been in therapy before, and I have to say, I didn't expect our session to get this deep. So much so, that I invited Ben back the next week to do some follow up. Ben accepted, but then he had a chance to go to the Superbowl Parade, so he had to cancel. Go Eagles! Go Ben!
Ben Louis sits down with WARTOWN members, KiidWolfe, Keyz Vango and Neighborhood Sparks and discusses upcoming and current music and trap metal.
In the final show of the year, Mitch and Jutel join host Ben Louis to talk the biggest stories of 2018 and for the BEN Talks Top 10 songs of 2018.
DJ Coolhand comes by and discusses his start as a DJ, how he got his name, working with G-Eazy and more in his sit down with Ben Louis.
This session is a follow up to very intense personal session on Feb.1, 2018 that I had with fellow Radio Free Brooklyn host of Ben Talks. https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/drlisa/episodes/2018-02-12T13_00_17-08_00 Also check out Ben's show-Thursdays, 5-7pm!https://radiofreebrooklyn.com/show/ben-talks/ Here on Oct. 25, 2018, we check in again in this session, 9 months later, RFB host, Ben Louis is going places fun, EXCITING and scary. The last time I sat down with Ben on Feb.1st, 2018, he was going through a breakup of a long-term relationship. On the eve of his 28th birthday, Ben is poised to take off - on radio and live on stage. He's focused on his career and it's taking him places. There's a lot of inspiration in here for you lazy asses out there. I'm looking forward to having Ben back in a bunch of months to hear what's happened from this glance into his future.
Food brings us together. Stories entertain us. The idea of authentic recipes and nutrition motivates us. A wave of entrepreneurs is going back to their roots to capitalize on all of this. We interview Fany Gerson, chef and founder of La Newyorkina and Dough, and author of the cookbook My Sweet Mexico; and Saskia Sorrosa, founder of Fresh Bellies. Plus, San Antonio Express-News columnist Maria Anglin makes a cameo to read an essay she wrote about being bilingual. Special thanks to Connor Button, who created the music, and Ben Louis, who helped us navigate the Radio Free Brooklyn studio.La comida nos une. Las historias nos emocionan. The term “influencer” means different things to different people. One thing, though, is clear: An influencer is probably taking a selfie in your favorite park right now. Before you know it, it’ll be overrun with tourists. This episode includes interviews with Unfold app creator Alfonso Cobo, Interbrand social media marketing manager María García Barea, and travel photographer and influencer Ana Linares (ananewyork on Instagram). Guest hosted by Ben Louis. BEN Talks real talk. Straight to the point and no nonsense, well maybe a little nonsense. On BEN Talks he covers a variety of topics ranging from love, politics, sports, romance and everything in between all while discovering new artists and paying respects to some of my favorite legends. https://radiofreebrooklyn.com/show/ben-talks/
