This is my 7th episode with radio show host, Ben Louis—one every year, since 2018. For listeners who don't know about Ben Louis, he started his career in radio right here at Radio Free Brooklyn in 2018 and found his calling. It was exciting for me, Dr. Lisa, to see someone like Ben with all the talent, hard work, drive and ambition to pursue his dream and he's been taking me along for the ride. This year, specifically the last few months have been pivotal for Ben. He got a promotion, raise and HIS OWN SIRIUSXM SHOW, Sundays 5pm + midnight on channel 47, Sunday Mimosa, which has about 3 million listeners. Getting this show puts Ben squarely in an industry position as a taste-maker in R+B music. He is sent to festivals, he's interviewed Patti Labelle, but he's the same old guy, just a little more grown. Ben has truly realized some goals and is now in the position of maximizing his opportunities, so no time to sleep. As always Ben is growing and inspiring. At this point, it seems his mission is bigger than him. Instagram: @benlouisradio/ Listen to Ben's personal and professional journey as recorded with Dr. Lisa annually since 2018: Ben Louis: First session DLG1204 - 2018 Fellow RFB "Ben Talks" host, Ben Louis talks recent gf breakup. Ben Lous: 2nd Session, DLG1840 2019 Ben Louis, host of RFB's BEN TALKS, comes in for a follow-up session! Ben Louis: Third Session - DLG220 2020 Fellow RFB host, Benjamin Louis of BEN TALKS, talks candidly about his personal growth. Ben Louis: Fourth Session DLG260 2021 Ben Louis, former RFB host is on the cusp of living his dream! Ben Louis: Fifth Session DLG286 2022 Former RFB host (now at Sirius), Ben Louis, comes in for an annual check in with Dr. Lisa Ben Louis: Sixth Session DLG319 2023 Former RFB Host now SiriusXM Host, Ben Louis. Ben's life in a creative career is inspiring.
This episode was ready at midnight but we got engrossed in mummy hunting and, well, whoops. Anyway this week we talk about the other Christmas book, the one Nate got for Ben. It's the first book of the Pendragon series! Does anybody else remember this? I don't think anyone in modern times remembers or cares but it's possible that millennials remember and NOBODY ELSE. Also this accidentally turned into a 2-parter, to the delight of only me.Support the Show.Discord - https://discord.gg/6BaNRtcP8CThreads - https://www.threads.net/@wordsaboutbookspodcastInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wordsaboutbookspodcastBlog - https://blog.wordsaboutbooks.ninja/Buy the Books - https://bookshop.org/shop/wabpod

Hello Listeners! In this episode, we had the opportunity to have a conversation with Filipino folk-pop indie band Ben&Ben Ben&Ben, formed by twin brothers Paolo and Miguel Benjamin Guico (lead vocals and acoustic guitar), initially called themselves the Benjamins. They later evolved into an ensemble, adding Poch Barretto (guitar), Keifer Cabugao (violin), Patricia Lasaten (keyboard), Toni Muñoz (percussion), Andrew de Pano (percussion), Agnes Reoma (bass), and Jam Villanueva (drums). Ben&Ben invites listeners on a journey of self-reflection with the release of their new single in 2024, "Comets,". It's a collaborative single from two countries and also marks Ben&Ben's venture into the Indonesian music industry, as they collaborate with Indonesian musician and producer Petra Sihombing on this single. "Comets" is an emotional song conveying the fleeting nature of relationships and breakups. Although the song reminisces about memories with mixed feelings of loss and contemplation, the experiences it brings offer hope and bright acceptance, regardless of the outcome. According to Paolo Benjamin and Miguel Benjamin, the songwriters behind "Comets," this pop-rock song is inspired by the many losses of people they've encountered in various parts of their lives over the past four years: farewells, the end of friendships, parting ways in their professional relationships. Like the creation of some mad scientist, this week's Wavelength has been assembled from only the finest parts and brought to life by the power of radio. With major data breaches being reported by some of Australia's largest companies recently, Ben Talks with Professor Jill Slay AM, UniSA Smartsat Professorial Chair, about where these attacks are coming from and what we can do to protect ourselves and our data. In a personal story this week, Alex talks with Emmah Money, 2020 Australian of the year, SA Local Hero about Cystic fibrosis, what it's like to live with the condition and raising awareness. Putting on a show, Grace talks to former Masterchef contestant Poh Ling Yeow about the Adelaide Farmers Market amid calls that the Wayville Showgrounds site is prime real estate and should be redeveloped. In Wavelength Explains this week, Ciarán throws the switches and shines a light on Necrobiotics, the science of reanimating and controlling insect bodies. Why? For Science! On and average stroll down Rundle Mall you can expect to see some pigs, a pigeon and the iconic balls but In Heaps Good News, Kate gets into warrior pose and talks to Yoga Instructor Ben Greenwood about 400 people strong, synchronised yoga in the Mall. The Steelers have a heavy presence at the Ohio State pro day and Mike Tomlin was salivating over a few offensive linemen. He took Paris Johnson Jr. and Dawand Jones to a steakhouse last night. What is the play here for the Steelers as they look ahead to the draft? Poni effed up and did not get Euros ahead of his trip to France. Amanda told him a month ago to do this, but he waited until today with the trip next week. Does she have a right to be mad? And they were both unaware of the strike going on in the country currently. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike doesn't think Ben Roethlisberger was all that close to actually signing with the 49ers. Mike does think that one of these days a retired QB is going to come back, mentioning Tom Brady and Drew Brees. Mike talked about the Philip Rivers rumors of a comeback, but doesn't think there was much behind that. Mike said these guys really have to question when Father Time will come around and wondered how well the old, statue QBs would have adapted to the Kyle Shanahan offense. Mike said the Packers want the 13th overall pick and more for Aaron Rodgers and talked about how possible that request is. Mike thinks the Jets should hold this out and wait until it gets later in the off-season and near the start of the regular season. Mike guessed that the deal will be done ahead of the NFL Draft and at the latest by the start of training camp. Mike said Odell Beckham Jr. is going to have to accept himself not making big money, maybe a one-year deal that is incentive driven before he looks for the bag. On the topic, Mike doesn't think the Steelers have interest in OBJ and they are happy with what they have right now. Mike said the receiver position is slowly becoming the running back position because you can find guys so often. Mike thinks the only team now that will likely make a move on Lamar Jackson is the Colts, but only if they miss out on one of the top three QBs in the draft. Mike doesn't rule out the Patriots being a team that might take a shot on Lamar.

In the 11th episode of the Whitetail Edge Podcast, Ben talks about ATA, Sheds, food plots and more! Hope you enjoy!
This is the sixth year in a row that Ben Louis has been my first guest of the year. I absolutely love starting the year this way. Ben is a beacon of positivity. Five years ago, when I first met Ben, he was an intern at Radio Free Brooklyn. We all knew he was on his way to big things. I think it's taken more patience and hard work than he could have originally imagined, but today I think Ben is pinching himself thinking, "Is this my life?" and it's poised to get even better. Ben is working with his radio heroes and interviewing celebrities like Vivica A. Fox, Chaka Khan, Babyface and so many more. Also Ben has just had a one-year anniversary of living with his girlfriend, Scarlet, and it's going great-fun to hear about too! If you go back to the first episode in 2018, the very beginning of Ben's radio career, you can hear Ben has just fallen in love with radio and it's disrupting his life—his girlfriend had just dumped him—if only Ben could have looked into the future at that moment— More about Ben @benlouisradio/ Listen to Ben's personal and professional journey as recorded with Dr. Lisa annually since 2018: Ben Louis: First session DLG1204 - 2018 Fellow RFB "Ben Talks" host, Ben Louis talks recent gf breakup. Ben and Liam weren't able to connect this week :((( but Ben saw that slack, picked it up, and has hit us with one of our strongest episodes in recent memory. Ben has been on a heater recently while Liam has been rewatching the Twilight series, and he's highlighting three excellent films: Ali Khamraev's 1986 freeform film I Will Remember You, Mathieu Kassovitz's 1995 allegorical epic La Haine, and, of course, John Cassavetes' 1974 rosetta stone A Woman Under the Influence. No one can tell you why you should watch a movie quite like Ben, and you should definitely watch these movies. Tune in next time for hopefully more of our scheduled programming. Ben Roethlisberger spoke this morning in response to Cam Heyward responding to him. It seems like it now may be put to bed. Chris believes Heyward won the mini debate and appears stronger as a leader than ever before. He feels like Ben back-pedaled on a few comments made in the Post-Gazette interview. Ultimately, it seems like Ben's comments were just shots at Mike Tomlin, Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell, and didn't venture much further than that. Chris said there's a position “battle” hiding in plain sight. He said Mitch Trubisky is the man based on how reps are being treated, even after just one full day of camp. Kevin Dotson was asked about his battle with Kendrick Green, in which he said it's absolutely a competition. Those guys split reps 50/50 yesterday with the starting unit. Trubisky got every rep with the one's and Kenny Pickett took reps with the third string. How long will Trubisky hold the job? That's the real question. This Day in Pirates History: The Brian Giles walk-off home run.

In this episode, I chat with my cousin, Ben. If you didn't check out last week's episode, I highly recommend doing so before or after this episode. Listen in as we record remotely - thanks covid. We had a great conversation digging into why it is difficult for Jason to identify a time when he felt most alive. Ben talks church and plays a clip from that day's church service. Jason shares about the intentional work he and Meaghan are doing to improve their relationship - even when it is hard. We ask each other 2 questions and enjoy putting the other on the spot to answer without any time to think. --- You'll hear stories about real people who have dealt with depression, anxiety, addiction, self-doubt, or any other struggle they've faced on their journey through life. It doesn't matter where you are in your own story - there's something for everyone on this show! And if you need someone to talk to when it feels like things just aren't going well - reach out! We want nothing more than for every person who listens to this show to feel less alone in the world.
