Texas Gov. signs $1 billion school choice program, Angry parent blasts school board over daughter's gender transition, Chinese-American expert: Get tougher on China

It's Monday, May 5th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus 18-wheeler truck plowed in Easter parade, killing 6, injuring 18 A government-appointed committee determined that the Muslim driver of an 18-wheeler truck that plowed into an Easter parade on Sunday, April 21, in the town of Billiri in Gombe State, Nigeria, intentionally struck the Christians as they celebrated Christ's resurrection.  The committee also found that of the 36 people struck in the attack, six died, and 18 remain in critical condition, reports International Christian Concern. Pray Psalm 147:6. It says, “The Lord sustains the humble, but casts the wicked to the ground.” China official hints he wants to end tariff war with U.S. China is hinting that it could be willing to talk to Trump administration officials as a way to end the trade and tariff war, reports The Western Journal. A Chinese Commerce Ministry representative said, “China is currently evaluating” messages from administration officials that “expressed their willingness to negotiate with China on tariffs,” according to the Wall Street Journal. He added, “China's position is consistent. If you want to fight, we will fight to the end; if you want to talk, our door is wide open.” President Donald Trump's 145 percent tariff on Chinese imports led China to impose a 125 percent tariff on American imports. Trump has said he will not blink without concessions that could include greater access to Chinese markets. Chinese-American expert: Get tougher on China Appearing on ‘Fox Report' with Jon Scott, Gatestone Institute senior fellow Gordon Chang explained that China has no tariffs on certain categories of products that only America can provide. SCOTT: “China is making allowances for some US products to be imported without tariffs. Does that suggest that they are finding that it's not so easy to block U.S. products?” CHANG: “Oh, absolutely. And you know, it's not just that they're reducing tariffs. You know, for instance, President Trump reduced tariffs on electronic goods coming in from China. “What China has done, which we learned from both the Reuters and the Financial Times reporting yesterday, is that there are no tariffs on certain categories of U.S goods. So, for instance, aviation parts, semiconductors, medical devices, medicines, industrial chemicals -- things that China can't get elsewhere -- and they're just coming into China tariff-free.” Chang urged Trump to get even tougher on China. CHANG: “Instead of talking about reducing tariffs, I think that we need to start actually imposing some more costs. “So, for instance, China is not taking Boeing aircraft deliveries. We flew back three 737 Maxes from China that were about to be delivered. Well, if I were President Trump, I would say to Boeing, ‘You can no longer provide services or parts to Chinese Airlines because that will ground the Chinese fleet. And I think that will bring the Chinese to heel fairly quickly. “But we need to do some things that would be considered unthinkable. This is not the type of normal trade war that people are used to. This is looking like an all-encompassing struggle. When President Trump last week signaled conciliatory moves, the Chinese even got worse, and they were saying, ‘Well, no talks until the U.S. removes all tariffs.'” Angry parent blasts school board over daughter's gender transition A furious Lakewood, Colorado father, Dustin Gonzalez, lost his temper with woke educators during a county school board meeting, saying his daughter's new gender identity and transition was kept secret from him and affirmed by school staff. GONZALEZ: “I'm not a politician. I'm not a loud voice on social media. I'm a father, a quiet one, one who goes to work, tries to do right by his family, and stays out of the spotlight. But now, now you're gonna remember my name. “My daughter changed her identity, not after years of discussion or family dialogue, not from joint input from both of her parents. No, this happened quickly, secretly, encouraged by a school-appointed therapist in a system that never thought to include me. And the school didn't inform me. They didn't include me. They didn't even ask me. They replaced me! “By the time I found out, I was already labeled ‘the problem.' My objections weren't treated as concerns. They were treated as opposition. My voice was dismissed as hateful. My presence undermined. The therapist, the school, and eventually the court-appointed investigator all decided that because I wouldn't affirm something, I didn't deserve to parent my daughter equally anymore. “They didn't accuse me of abuse. They didn't claim I'd caused harm. The only evidence against me was that I said, ‘I'm not ready to affirm this yet.' That's it! “And now I'm at risk of losing parenting time, of being erased from my daughter's life, not because I failed as a father, but because I dared to ask questions. And it started in your schools. Your systems made it possible, and your silence made it permanent! “You gave my ex all the tools she needed to take our daughter from me, tools that she couldn't have forged on her own. You gave her the therapist, you gave her the ideological support, and you never once thought, ‘Shouldn't the father be involved too?' “You gave her a system that cut me out of the picture. You handed her the tools to eliminate me from my daughter's life. And with your help, she's trying to race me all together. You replaced my voice. You stole my seat at the table. And you made decisions about my daughter without me! “I don't care if you personally signed the policies, stayed silent while he passed, or simply chose not to know, you are all responsible. Don't think you can take a man's child from him and not reap a whirlwind!” Just like Psalm 103:13 articulates, a father has compassion on his child. But sadly, in this case, the government school's woke policies became a wedge between father and child. Texas Governor signs $1 billion school choice program And finally, on Saturday, Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott signed a $1 billion school voucher program into law, cementing the biggest legislative victory of his decade in office, reports the San Antonio Express-News. ABBOTT: “It is time that we put our children on a pathway to having the number one ranked education system in the United States of America. (applause) “Gone are the days that families are limited to only the school assigned by government. The day has arrived that empowers parents to choose the school that's best for their child.” Abbott referenced parents in the crowd who had already pulled their students from “low-performing” public schools to put them into private ones.  Under the $1 billion school choice law, Texas students who are enrolled into the program will receive $10,000 per year to go to an accredited private school. Disabled students will get up to $30,000 per year and home schooled students will receive $2,000 per year per child. The first year of operation will begin in 2027. The state will choose nonprofits to run the program, develop the application process, and pick which 100,000 students will have access to it. What To Do When A Spouse Wants Out - Lyn Smith & Becky Whetstone

Hearts Entwined Podcast

Lyn welcomes Dr. Becky Whetstone, a marriage and family therapist, to discuss the challenging topic of what to do when a spouse wants out of the marriage/ relationship. Dr. Whetstone shares her personal journey through marital struggles and the insights she gained from her experiences, emphasising the importance of getting help to heal any issues and stabilise emotions during a marriage crisis. KEY TAKEAWAYS In a marriage crisis, one partner (the decider) may want to leave while the other (the leaning in partner) wants to stay and fight for the relationship. This creates a runner-chaser dynamic that can exacerbate tensions. Before making any decisions about the future of the marriage/ relationship, it's crucial to stabilise emotions and calm the nervous system. This allows for more rational discussions and helps both partners access their true feelings. Implementing a period of no contact can be beneficial. This space allows the decider to reflect on their feelings and the relationship without the pressure of the leaning in partner's attempts to reconnect. During separation, the leaning in partner should put the love and focus entirely on themselves by doing things that they love and that make them happy. This time can be used for self help, to address any stress/ anxiety/ personal issues/ and prepare for a healthier future. Engaging with a therapist can provide essential support during a marriage crisis. Professional guidance can help individuals navigate their emotions, heal past/ current issues, and make informed healthier decisions about their relationship. BEST MOMENTS "If someone says, 'I think I want out of my marriage...' all sorts of crazy feelings, thoughts, and things are going to happen. People can flip back and change their mind numerous times." "The harder the leaning in partner chases, the more activated and intense the decider will want to get away." "If you could just... be kind when your person says they want to leave... I think probably I'd have 80% more reconciliations than I currently do." "Even when you think there's no hope, hope. I've seen everything... it's just so important how you conduct yourself during the process." ABOUT THE GUEST - Dr. Becky Whetstone - Marriage & Family TherapistBecky Whetstone, Ph.D. is a marriage and family therapist in private practice who specializes in trauma, co-dependency, and marriage crisis. Renowned historian and New York Times bestselling author, Kristin Kobes Du Mez (Jesus and John Wayne) explores the culture of submission and sexual abuse within the evangelical community in her riveting documentary, FOR OUR DAUGHTERS, available to stream on September 26.Directed by Emmy award-winning filmmaker Carl Byker, the film draws a direct line from the culture of abuse created by evangelical leaders to their fervent support for a presidential candidate who has bragged about abusing women. For Our Daughters is available online September 26.FOR OUR DAUGHTERS features sit-down interviews with victims and whistleblowers of sexual abuse in the SBC, including acclaimed author Christa Brown (Baptistland), featured in the landmark 2019 investigation from the Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express-News. The groundbreaking report examined sexual misconduct reports across the Southern Baptist Convention, and found hundreds of church leaders and volunteers across 20 states who had been criminally charged with sex crimes since 2000, leading to more than 700 victims. Interviews with survivor-advocates Tiffany Thigpen, Jules Woodson, Rachael Denhollander (What Is a Girl Worth), and Cait West (Rift) are also featured, highlighting their efforts to bring justice and reform to the church.A timely exploration of the intersection between faith, politics, and women's rights in America, the film honors the brave survivors who have shared their stories, often at great cost. It delves into how the church has cared more about power and political influence than love, and how the harm done to women and children threatens to extend beyond faith communities given what is at stake this election season."Just months after Jesus and John Wayne released, three conservative evangelical women asked to speak with me," says Du Mez. "To my surprise, they thanked me and asked how they could help. 'It's too late for us,' they told me. 'We've made our choices, and we can't walk away from the lives we've made. But we want something different for our daughters.' I've carried their words with me. This film is for them, and for their daughters."Abuse within the evangelical community starkly contradicts Jesus' teachings about women, which emphasize love, respect, and honor. By exposing the abuse and the abusers who distort God's name to justify their actions, FOR OUR DAUGHTERS challenges women to be a driving force within their own communities. The film calls on women of faith to raise their voices and wisely consider their vote as a means to protect the health, happiness, and liberties of their daughters and granddaughters.FOR OUR DAUGHTERS is executive produced by Kenneth Harbaugh, and Charlie Sadoff, and will be available to stream for free on YouTube starting September 26.Resources for sexual and spiritual abuse survivors can be found at forourdaughtersfilm.com.✖️✖️✖️Support the Show: Patreon.com/PreacherBoys✖️✖️✖️If you or someone you know has experienced abuse, visit courage365.org/need-help✖️✖️✖️CONNECT WITH THE SHOW:preacherboyspodcast.comhttps://www.youtube.com/@PreacherBoyshttps://www.facebook.com/preacherboysdoc/https://twitter.com/preacherboysdochttps://www.instagram.com/preacherboyspodhttps://www.tiktok.com/@preacherboyspodTo connect with a community that shares the Preacher Boys Podcast's mission to expose abuse in the IFB, join the OFFICIAL Preacher Boys Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1403898676438188/✖️✖️✖️The content presented in this video is for informational and educational purposes only. The back-and-forth over Texas Senate Bill 4 is just the latest in a series of border security disputes between the state and the federal government. This week's episode of Texas Wants to Know digs into who's responsible for what when it comes to the border. UNT Dallas College of Law professor and former U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Texas Brian Owsley says control of the border is ultimately a federal responsibility. Jeremy Wallace, a political reporter for the Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express-News, adds that covering the border requires more nuance than we often give it.

It's Friday, January 12th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian Muslim kidnappers keep pastors hostage despite getting ransom Two Nigerian pastors kidnapped along with others last month remain captive despite their denomination paying the ransom for their release, reports Morning Star News. Rev. Elkanah Ayuba and Rev. Simon Ezra, both of the United Methodist Church, were among at least 20 people kidnapped on December 19th from Yorro County in Taraba State.   On January 4th, Rev. Micah Dopa, president of the Southern Conference of the United Methodist Church, said, “As a Body of Christ, we mobilized and paid $12,264 for our members to be released, but the terrorists decided to release only the Muslim victims in their custody. It is clear that the terrorists' activities are a plot to erase Christians in the area.” Chris Christie dropped out Just days before the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie dropped out of the Republican presidential race on Wednesday at a townhall meeting, reports LifeNews. CHRISTIE: “My goal has never been to be just a voice against the hate and the division and the selfishness of what our party has become under Donald Trump. It's also been to win the nomination and defeat Joe Biden and restore our party and our country to a new place of hope and optimism in this country. “I've always said that there came a point in time in this race where I couldn't see a path to accomplishing that goal that I would get out. And it's clear to me tonight that there isn't a path for me to win the nomination which is why I'm suspending my campaign tonight for President United States.” 10 pro-life rescuers go to trial next week On Friday, March 5, 2021 at 8:30am, some faithful pro-life Christians sought to rescue pre-born babies from certain death at an abortion mill, innocuously named Carafem Health Center, in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. As they peacefully blocked the door to the baby-killing center, they prayed that God would convict the mothers who had scheduled the executions of the babies in their wombs to choose life instead. Because the pro-life rescuers refused to leave, the police arrested them, reported NewsChannel5 in Nashville. To its shame, Biden's Department of Justice indicted these 10 rescuers on October 5, 2022 on charges of violating the misguided Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and a conspiracy to violate the so-called constitutional right to abortion in the pre-Dobbs era.  The trial, which could lead to astronomical fines and up to 11 years in federal prison, begins next Tuesday, January 16th. Coleman Boyd, one of the indicted pro-life rescuers, videotaped part of that March 5th, 2021 rescue. Listen. BOYD:  “I will follow You, Lord and obey you. You show me what you want me to do, and I'll follow You and obey. What I can tell you it doesn't mean is comfortable American Christian living while babies are being murdered, while souls are slipping into hell. That I know it doesn't mean. So, whatever He's calling you to, you've got to seek the Lord. You've got to cry out to God and you've got to have a heart that I'm going to obey. ‘Be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved us.'” (Ephesians 5:1) Later, when Boyd saw a couple outside the Tennessee abortion mill coming towards him, he said this. BOYD: “Good morning, guys. Can I give you some literature? It's the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You know that Christ Jesus came to give life. He came to lay down His life for us. “I'm not sure why you're here at this building today, but if you're here for this abortion clinic, I plead with you today: Turn away from abortion, turn away from death, and turn to Jesus Christ. You know that Jesus laid down His life so that you can have life. Please talk with us.” As The Federalist recently declared, “If peacefully protesting abortion is criminal, but firebombing pregnancy centers is not, there is no rule of law.” Indeed, Peter Breen, an attorney with the Thomas More Society, who is representing Paul Vaughn, one of the ten pro-life rescuers, appeared on Fox News Channel with Tucker Carlson and cited the rich American tradition of civil disobedience dating back to Martin Luther King, Jr. BREEN: “Those who were arrested were leaning on the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King. He himself was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. I mean, this is the great tradition of American civil disobedience. And it's not the sort of thing that you turn into a 10-year felony. We believe we have very strong defenses and hope to beat these charges at trial.” Please consider attending a prayer rally on Tuesday January 16th at 7:30a.m. right before their trial begins. The rally will be located at the Federal Court House, 801 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203. In a promotional email for the prayer rally, André De Toit, wrote, “We are living in a time where injustice rules, immorality is being celebrated openly, and truth is being perverted. Meanwhile, the Christian Church has grown cold and apathetic towards what God has called her to be.” Anti-Israel protestors derail San Antonio, Texas City Council meeting Yesterday, a group of about 20 anti-Israel protesters temporarily derailed the San Antonio, Texas City Council meeting just minutes into its first meeting of 2024 as they demanded a cease-fire, reports the San Antonio Express-News. Listen. ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “Ceasefire now. Ceasefire now. Ceasefire now. Ceasefire now. Ceasefire now.” LEADER: “What do we want?” ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “Ceasefire.” LEADER: “When do we want it?” ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “Now!” LEADER: “What do we want?” ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “Ceasefire.” LEADER: “When do we want it?” ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “Now! Free, free Palestine. Free, free Palestine.” Then, their chanting became personal as they accused San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who is Jewish, of genocide. ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “Ron, Ron. You can't hide. We charge you with genocide." LEADER: “Ron, Ron. You can't hide.” ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP: “We charge you with genocide. Hey, hey. Ho, ho. The occupation has got to go. Hey, hey. Ho, ho. The occupation has got to go.” One of the anti-Israel protestors revealed to KENS-5 TV their motivation behind shutting down the City Council meeting. MAZATL CIHUATL: “The main message to the city today is that we are going to make your life highly disruptive, highly inconvenient, until you acquiesce to our demands to sever your relationships with Israel and to immediately call for a permanent ceasefire.” After the meeting, Mayor Nirenberg told reporters, “We all want an end to the violence in the Middle East. We all want a just and lasting peace. The City Council is in no position to advance that.” This week, San Francisco made headlines when it became the largest city in the United States to call for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, following Seattle, Detroit, and Atlanta.  Denver and Minneapolis are considering similar calls. 53% of U.S. pastors want to quit And finally, as American pastors have grown increasingly discontent with their profession, 53% have seriously considered leaving pastoral ministry since 2020, according to a new study from the Hartford Institute for Religion Research. In 2021, only 37% of pastors thought about leaving the ministry.  Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Friday, January 12th in the year of our Lord 2024. CatProfiler was created by accident: in 2003, Jenne Mundy's cat, Katka, got out. Through intimate knowledge of that one lost cat, Mundy was able to guess where she would hide and what she would do. By the time Mundy recovered her three months later, people started asking if Mundy could do the same thing for their cats. Mundy started by collecting detailed histories with the help of the owners. She developed a “feline behavioral profiling” methodology to measure and analyze the data for each lost cat. Mundy eventually founded CatProfiler, where she continues to use her skills to reunite owners with their missing cats. Mundy was one of the founders of Missing Cat Assistance, and she continues working in collaboration with rescue organizations and non-profits throughout the country. She has assisted in the recovery of over a thousand cats and their families worldwide. She also works with local San Antonio families to coach them through any behavioral misunderstandings they have with their cats. She volunteers with local shelters and does TNR to assist with the San Antonio overpopulation of feral cats. Mundy has appeared in National Geographic Kids, Prevention, Iams, Purina, The San Antonio Express News, and other local news. She's been a guest of Animal Planet and Discovery. Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign announced Tuesday it had replaced its campaign manager amid low polling in the 2024 GOP primary. DeSantis' gubernatorial chief of staff James Uthmeier replaced campaign manager Generra Peck, DeSantis' team confirmed to The Hill. Peck will now work as the campaign's chief strategist. "People have written Governor DeSantis’s obituary many times," Uthmeier told The Messenger. "He’s breaking records on fundraising and has a supporting super PAC with $100 million in the bank and an incredible ground game. Get ready." Additionally, David Polyansky, former chief of staff for Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, will also join the campaign after serving as an adviser at the pro-DeSantis Never Back Down super PAC. "David Polyansky will also be a critical addition to the team given his presidential campaign experience in Iowa and work at Never Back Down," DeSantis' communications director Andrew Romeo said. Republican strategist and former Trump adviser Roger Stone predicted that 2024 presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will completely run out of money by the first of October. The largest donor to the Florida governor said earlier this week that he was going to hold off funding until DeSantis could appeal more to moderates. Trump is ahead of DeSantis in Republican primary polls with 53.2% to the Florida Republican's 15.1%, according to an average of polls analyzed by FiveThirtyEight. The staffing changes come after the DeSantis campaign laid off more than one-third of its employees last month. https://bongino.com/electric-vehicle-company-heavily-promoted-by-biden-admin-goes-bankrupt Electric Vehicle Company Heavily Promoted by Biden Admin Goes Bankrupt Proterra, an electric bus manufacturing company promoted by the Biden administration, had everything it needed to succeed - and failed anyway. As the Washington Free Beacon’s Chuck Ross reported: Proterra cited "various market and macroeconomic headwinds" in a Chapter 11 filing on Monday, which came after the California-based firm cut hundreds of jobs earlier this year and restructured hundreds of millions of dollars in outstanding debt. Proterra stood to rake in millions from Biden's infrastructure and green energy initiatives, the former of which included at least $5 billion in spending on electric buses alone. Biden's flagship climate bill, the Inflation Reduction Act, also includes spending to help cities convert from diesel buses to electric buses, a major incentive for companies like Proterra. JoAnn Covington, Proterra's chief legal officer, acknowledged last year that tax credits and federal grants under Biden's bills were a major incentive for the company. Grants to purchase electric buses and to create electric vehicle charging infrastructure would "open up opportunities to accelerate adoption of battery-electric and zero-emissions vehicles to all the other commercial segments on the cusp of being electrified," Covington said. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm held non-public shares of proterra, which she sold in mid 2021 to an undisclosed buyer, pocketing over a $1 million profit in the process. She pledged to disclose the buyer, but never did. Proterra's stock only crashed from there, and Granholm’s 240,000 shares would be worth roughly $60,000 total as of writing, had she still held them. Earlier this year in February, Proterra’s CEO Gareth Joyce was appointed by Biden to his Export Council. The year prior, Biden hosted a virtual White House event that spotlighted Proterra’s business, which included the president of the company giving a virtual tour of the company’s manufacturing facility. https://freebeacon.com/national-security/biden-admin-has-given-2-35-billion-to-taliban-controlled-afghanistan/ Biden Admin Has Given $2.35 Billion to Taliban-Controlled Afghanistan The Biden administration has provided more than $2.35 billion in taxpayer dollars to Afghanistan since the Taliban retook control of the government in 2021 following a deadly U.S. evacuation. The United States remains Afghanistan’s top patron, even as lawmakers and federal oversight officials warn that these funds could be propping up the Taliban’s terrorist government. Updated spending figures were disclosed Tuesday in a report by the Special Inspector General for Afghan Reconstruction (SIGAR), a federal watchdog that documents waste, fraud, and abuse related to U.S. expenditures in the war-torn country. Around $1.7 billion "remained available for possible disbursement" at the time of SIGAR’s report, meaning that this money is ready to flow into non-profit groups and other entities working on reconstruction projects in Afghanistan. With the Taliban exerting control over nearly every sector of the country’s infrastructure—including the NGO community—it is more than likely that a sizable portion of these funds will end up in the terror group’s coffers. The latest figures are certain to increase congressional pressure on the Biden administration to stop sending taxpayer funds into Afghanistan until officials can ensure the Taliban is not stealing the money. John Sopko, head of SIGAR, told the House Foreign Affairs Committee in April that he "cannot assure this committee or the American taxpayer we are not currently funding the Taliban." Sopko also accused the Biden administration of blocking his investigatory efforts and refusing to hand over documents that could show if the Taliban is being propped up by American cash. In the two years since the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan following the Biden administration's withdrawal of American forces in 2021, it has become increasingly clear that the terrorist group views international assistance as a "revenue stream," according to SIGAR’s latest report. The United States Institute of Peace recently warned the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the primary vehicle for U.S. spending in Afghanistan, that the Taliban is "pushing for ever-increasing degrees of credit and control over the delivery of aid." United Nations officials also disclosed to the watchdog that "the Taliban have effectively infiltrated and influenced most UN-managed assistance programming." This reality is raising questions about the nearly $2 billion in funds the Biden administration has made available for disbursement in the country. As U.S. aid money flows to the country, "Taliban interference with NGO work escalated, leading to a steady decline in humanitarian access in 2023, with a 32 percent increase in incidents between January and May 2023 as compared to the same period in 2022," according to the report. The Taliban government also has not moderated its jihadi principles since seizing the country. As SIGAR and congressional oversight committees raise concerns about the Biden administration’s push to pump money into Afghanistan, the government agencies in control of these expenditures are not cooperating with investigations. Sopko revealed in April that the "the Department of State, USAID, the U.N., and other agencies are refusing to give us basic information that we or any other oversight body would need to ensure safe stewardship of tax dollars." Sopko revealed in April that the "the Department of State, USAID, the U.N., and other agencies are refusing to give us basic information that we or any other oversight body would need to ensure safe stewardship of tax dollars." "More troubling," he added, "State and USAID have instructed their employees not to talk to SIGAR, and in one recent instance, State told one of its contractors not to participate in a SIGAR audit." The White House also would not cooperate with SIGAR. Congress has had similar experiences, with USAID declining to tell investigators what safeguards were put in place to ensure taxpayer cash is not stolen by the Taliban. https://nypost.com/2023/08/07/nathan-cruz-cousin-of-uvalde-school-shooter-arrested-for-threatening-school/ Cousin, 17, of Uvalde school shooter arrested for allegedly threatening ‘to do the same thing’ A cousin to Uvalde school shooter Salvador Ramos was arrested after he was accused of threatening to shoot up a school and shoot his sister in the head, according to authorities. Nathan Cruz, 17, allegedly told his sister he planned “to do the same thing” as his sicko cousin, who shot and killed 19 students and two staffers inside Robb Elementary School last year, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the San Antonio Express-News. San Antonio officers responded to a mental health call after the teen suspect’s mother grew worried Monday morning. “The suspect’s mother was especially concerned because the suspect is currently on probation, was intoxicated at the time, and for the fact that they live near an elementary school,” the affidavit reportedly stated. Cruz also allegedly mentioned how “school is starting soon,” according to KSAT, which also obtained the warrant. Cruz reportedly denied making any threats when speaking with detectives. Cruz’s mother said she overheard her son attempting to buy an AR-15 illegally over the phone, according to the warrant. The family lives across the street from the Gardendale Early Learning Program, the newspaper reported. In addition to the school shooting threat, he also threatened to shoot his sister in the head, the mother alleged. The young man’s sister believed his threat was credible “due to the recent history of their family and the suspect’s knowledge of his cousin’s actions,” according to the San Antonio Express-News. Cruz was booked on a felony charge of making a terroristic threat to the public and a misdemeanor charge of making a terroristic threat to a family member, according to online records from the Bexar County jail. He then adds artificial buns to his hair to simulate Minnie’s ears and tops it off with Minnie’s signature red bow. The video is the latest example of Disney promoting transgenderism and gender non-conformity. Role of San Antonio in Supporting Migrants Cities play a critical role in offering support and resources for migrants, particularly those in transit or navigating the complexities of the immigration system. Organizing and coordinating efforts to provide essential services, care, and guidance can make a significant difference for vulnerable migrant populations. During the podcast, Gavin Rogers spoke about the role of Catholic Charities and the city of San Antonio in providing support for migrants passing through the city. However, he also pointed out the challenges created by political interference and the lack of comprehensive immigration reform. Gavin's observations highlight the need for cities like San Antonio to play an active role in supporting migrants and working to improve their access to essential resources and services. Fentanyl and the homeless community The opioid crisis continues to be a significant issue among homeless populations, with fentanyl playing a particularly devastating role. As a potent synthetic opioid, fentanyl is responsible for numerous overdose deaths, particularly as it enters the drug market as a dangerous additive. Understanding the prevalence and impact of fentanyl in the homeless community is vital for implementing targeted interventions to address and mitigate its harmful effects. Gavin Rogers discussed the rising fentanyl crisis in the podcast, noting that overdose deaths were occurring weekly. He underlined the dangers of fentanyl as a poison, with users often unaware of its presence in the drugs they consume, which leads to overdoses. This highlights the urgency and necessity of addressing fentanyl and opioids among the homeless population as part of a broader effort to tackle homelessness. Tent cities and treatment Tent cities are a familiar sight in many urban areas, and they highlight the need for more effective and diverse treatment options for homeless populations. While there are organizations and facilities that aid in providing these services, addressing the various complexities and personal circumstances of each individual homeless person requires constant engagement with stakeholders and care providers. Gavin Rogers highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration, particularly between the business community and organizations working with the homeless, to devise comprehensive solutions for homelessness. He emphasizes the need to consider a diverse approach that accommodates different personalities, cultural backgrounds, and other factors rather than relying on a single, overarching solution.

In a filing on Tuesday, the administration acknowledged to the Supreme Court that the end of Title 42 will likely lead to "disruption and a temporary increase in unlawful border crossings" but asked the court to reject efforts by a group of conservative-leaning states to keep Title 42 in place. Migrants have been denied requests to seek asylum under U.S. and international law 2.5 million times since March 2020 on grounds of preventing the spread of COVID-19 under a public-health rule called Title 42. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/texas-gov-abbott-polar-vortex-threatens-migrants-bidens-border-disaster Texas Gov. Abbott warns polar vortex threatens migrants due to Biden’s border ‘disaster’ Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told President Joe Biden on Tuesday that his "disaster" immigration policy is putting lives at risk as a polar vortex expected this week will create bitter conditions for the thousands of illegal immigrants who continue to trek into the U.S. "With cold temperatures gripping Texas, your inaction to secure the southern border is putting the lives of migrants at risk, particularly in the City of El Paso," the Republican governor told Biden in a letter. "Your policies will leave many people in the bitter, dangerous cold as a polar vortex moves into Texas." "This terrible crisis for border communities in Texas is a catastrophe of your own making," Abbott wrote. The governor said Biden has failed in his constitutional duty to protect the border, which disproportionately impacts Texas. Abbott warned that the situation would only get worse if the Title 42 policy ends this week. That pandemic-era policy allows border agents to turn migrants away at the border, and ending it could lead to a surge of migrants at the southern border just as Texas faces some of its coldest temperatures. The Title 42 policy was set to expire Wednesday, but an appeal is being heard by the Supreme Court, which could decide as early as Tuesday evening. The Department of Homeland Security projects between 9,000 and 15,000 migrant encounters a day once the policy ends, which would add to the already highest annual total of encounters in U.S. history. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted an end to Title 42 would not mean the border is open. To suggest so, she said, is misinformation and "doing the work of these smugglers." Vice President Kamala Harris, who was tasked with identifying the root cause of mass migration to the southern border, has insisted in recent months that the border is secure. Abbott said he would continue to work with state-based officials to stem the tide of illegal immigration. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/white-house-confirms-zelenskyys-travel-us-ahead-massive-bill-funding-ukrainian-military White House confirms Zelenskyy's travel to US ahead of massive bill funding Ukrainian military The Biden administration confirmed early Wednesday morning Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on his way to the U.S. to discuss more assistance for the country during its ongoing conflict with Russia. In addition to meeting with President Biden, Zelenskyy is slated to address Congress Wednesday afternoon as lawmakers plan to shell out more money for Ukraine in its latest $1.7 trillion spending bill. The budget includes more than $45 billion in new military and humanitarian aid for his country. A press statement from the Biden admin Wednesday morning said Zelenskyy's address to a joint meeting of Congress will demonstrate the "strong, bipartisan support for Ukraine." In its official statement, the White House added President Biden has been rallying the world to support Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February. "Three hundred days ago, Russia launched a brutal assault against Ukraine. In response, President Biden rallied the world to support the people of Ukraine as they defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity," the statement read. "During the visit, President Biden will announce a significant new package of security assistance to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression." Extensive security measures were already underway in the nation's capital early Wednesday morning as the District prepared for the high-profile visit. As early as 4:30 a.m., Capitol Police cruisers could be seen lined up outside the Capitol building along with cement barricades blocking roads leading up to the building. On behalf of bipartisan Congressional leaders, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., sent a letter to Zelenskyy encouraging his visit to Washington, D.C., in a letter explaining the leaders' "immense respect and admiration" for the Ukrainian president. The pending aid would be the U.S.' largest amount of financial assistance to Ukraine since the war started and is intended to support the fight against Russia for months to come, according to the Associated Press. Congress is also expected to announce a major package of $1.8 billion in military aid on Wednesday, which will include a Patriot missile battery and precision guided bombs for Ukraine's fighter jets. U.S. officials said the package will include about $1 billion in weapons from Pentagon stocks and $800 million in funding through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, according to the AP. Though the massive spending bill is expected to receive support from many Republicans in the House and Senate, not all are on board with the additional funding. Some GOP lawmakers argued the new round of aid, which will bring the U.S. commitment to the war to over $110 billion, is improper without greater accountability. https://www.theepochtimes.com/us-senate-advances-1-66-trillion-government-funding-bill_4936469.html?utm_source=partner&utm_campaign=BonginoReport US Senate Advances $1.66 Trillion Government-Funding Bill A $1.66 trillion government spending bill drew overwhelming bipartisan support in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday as lawmakers steered it toward passage before a weekend deadline to avoid a partial shutdown of federal agencies. Democratic and Republican negotiators agreed early Tuesday morning on the sweeping bill to fund the federal government through the end of its fiscal year on Sept. 30, raising funding from about $1.5 trillion in the last fiscal year. The Senate voted 70-25 to proceed to debate of the bill, with some Republican senators hoping to offer amendments. A handful of conservative Senate Republicans on Tuesday said they objected to the bill, but would not try to stop its passage. The bill includes other measures agreed on by negotiators from both parties, including a ban on the use of TikTok on government-owned devices and clarification of Congress’s role in certifying elections, an attempt to avoid a repeat of the U.S. Capitol breach on Jan. 6, 2021. Senate and House leaders aim to pass the 4,155-page bill and send it to Democratic President Joe Biden for signing by the end of the week to ensure there are no interruptions to the government’s activities. The Tuesday vote was the first in a series of steps clearing the way for passage by Friday. Failure to pass legislation in time could bring a partial government shutdown beginning Saturday, just before Christmas, and possibly lead into a months-long standoff after Republicans take control of the House on Jan. 3, breaking the grip of Biden’s Democrats on both chambers of Congress. Budget experts found fault with the bill’s size. Included in the bill is $44.9 billion in emergency assistance to Ukraine and NATO allies and $40.6 billion to assist communities across the United States recovering from natural disasters and other matters. The Ukraine funds would be used for military training, equipment, logistics and intelligence support, as well as for replenishing U.S. equipment sent to Kyiv. It also includes funding to prepare for and respond to potential nuclear and radiological incidents in Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin has not ruled out the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict with Ukraine. Included in the Ukraine package is $13.4 billion in economic aid and $2.4 billion to help resettle Ukrainians in the United States. The military aid would be on top of the record $858 billion in U.S. defense spending for the year, which is up from last year’s $740 billion and also exceeds Biden’s request. U.S. lawmakers also included a proposal to bar federal employees from using the Chinese short-video app TikTok on government-owned devices. And they backed a proposal to lift a looming deadline imposing a new safety standard for modern cockpit alerts for two new versions of Boeing Co’s 737 MAX aircraft. https://nypost.com/2022/12/20/intruder-able-to-walk-into-uvalde-school-unchallenged-during-safety-audit/ ‘Intruder’ able to walk into Uvalde school unchallenged as new report slams medical response A Texas safety inspector posing as an intruder was recently able to stroll unchallenged into a Uvalde school — as a damning new investigation also blamed a “flawed medical response” for failing to save some of the 21 slaughtered in a mass shooting at Robb Elementary. After some early impressive wins against Minnesota, Philadelphia, and Chicago, the Spurs are facing a 3-game losing streak against Toronto, the Los Angeles Clippers, and Denver. The Top-10 and Bottom-10 areas for the Spurs on offense and defense The Spurs have more strengths on offense 10 games into the season compared to the defensive end of the floor. The Spurs are Top-10 in pace, assists, floater makes, 3-point shooting, and wide-open 3-point shooting. Turnovers, the Spurs' offense overall, the Spurs' finishing near the rim, and getting to the free-throw line are areas of concern for the team. On defense, one of the bright spots for the team is not putting their opponents on the free-throw line. In terms of concerns, the Spurs have multiple areas they'll have to work on this season including their overall defense, opponents' offensive rebounding percentage, and opponent shooting inside and outside. The starters and players off the bench The Spurs' starters Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, Jakob Poeltl, Tre Jones, and Jeremy Sochan are discussed in the episode, as well as second-unit players Josh Richardson, Zach Collins, Doug McDermott, Malaki Branham, and Keita Bates-Diop. The latest in the Josh Primo legal dispute On Friday, October 28, the Spurs waived guard, Josh Primo. On Thursday, November 03, former Spurs licensed psychologist Dr. Hillary Cauthen, represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, announced a lawsuit against Primo and the San Antonio Spurs for Primo allegedly indecently exposing himself to Dr. Cauthen nine times in private sessions, and the lawsuit against the Spurs is because they allegedly ignored Dr. Cauthen's complaints when she notified Spurs management. Primo's attorney William J. Briggs II responded to the allegations by saying they were false and misleading. Spurs Sports and Entertainment CEO R.C. Buford issued the following statement Thursday: “We disagree with the accuracy of facts, details, and timeline presented today. While we would like to share more information, we will allow the legal process to play out. Our organization remains committed to upholding the highest standards and will continue to live by our values and culture.” Friday, November 04, the San Antonio Express-News reported the Bexar County Sheriff's Office has opened a preliminary investigation into the allegations. The Spurs' roster at the moment With Primo waived and Blake Wesley suffering a Grade 3 left MCL sprain, the Spurs signed Jordan Hall to a non-guaranteed contract that fully guarantees on January 10, 2023. Hall was recently on a two-way contract with the Spurs during training camp and the preseason.

From the 1960s and into the 1990s, Madalyn Murray O'Hair was the voice and face of atheism in the United States. Madalyn's closest partners in her business dealings, legal battles, and life were her youngest son Jon Garth Murray and her granddaughter Robin Murray. When the three went missing in September of 1995 under suspicious circumstances, local law enforcement, family, even friends were slow to respond. This is part one of a two-part story describing what happened when “the most hated woman in America” and her family disappeared. Sources:Bryce, R. (1998, November 20). Abducted by aliens? The cowardice, ineptitude, and potential corruption exhibited by the agents of the state in Uvalde, Texas is so embarrassing and damning that they have lawyered up in an attempt to keep the peasants from finding out just how bad the real story of their failure is.  During our Duracoat Finished Firearm segment, Professor Paul will consider garage sale guns, the good, the bad, and the ugly. For our Brownells Bullet Points, we talk about in stock items that you might want to pick up before they are gone.  Also, does your granny have a gat? A 90 year old woman in Tennessee was attacked by a bear while she sat on her front porch. Is there a good solution for arming our grandmas? We will consider that topic during our SOTG Homeroom from CrossBreed Holsters.  Thanks for being a part of SOTG! We hope you find value in the message we share. If you use fireworks, you or someone else can get seriously hurt.” (Click Here for Full Article)   From www.vice.com/en/article: Some of the records relating to the Robb Elementary School shooting could be “highly embarrassing,” involve “emotional/mental distress,” and are “not of legitimate concern to the public,” the lawyers argued. The City of Uvalde and its police department are working with a private law firm to prevent the release of nearly any record related to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in which 19 children and two teachers died, according to a letter obtained by Motherboard in response to a series of public information requests we made. The public records Uvalde is trying to suppress include body camera footage, photos, 911 calls, emails, text messages, criminal records, and more. (Click Here for Full Article)   From www.dailywire.com/news: Law enforcement officials reportedly never tried to open the door at a Texas elementary school last month where a shooter murdered 19 children. “Surveillance footage shows that police never tried to open a door to two classrooms at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde in the 77 minutes between the time a gunman entered the rooms and massacred 21 people and officers finally breached the door and killed him,” the San Antonio Express-News reported, noting that the information came from a law enforcement official who was involved in investigating law enforcement's response to the tragedy. “Investigators believe the 18-year-old gunman who killed 19 children and two teachers at the school on May 24 could not have locked the door to the connected classrooms from the inside.” (Click Here for Full Article)

A new report commissioned by the Southern Baptist Convention found that "survivors and others who reported abuse were ignored, disbelieved, or discredited." Even some convicted molesters continued as ministers, without the SBC informing their congregations. The report's bombshell is that the SBC had compiled its own secret list of alleged abusers – and still took no action. This report was commissioned in response to a series of newspaper articles investigating sexual abuse in the Southern Baptist Church. Published in 2019, the series was a team effort by reporters from the Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio Express-News. We'll talk with one of the lead reporters, Robert Downen.John Powers will review the new British medical series This is Going to Hurt.

In May of 2004 12-year-old Rosa Sandoval missed the last day of elementary school and the class party that was to take place and was never seen again. San Antonio Police sprung to action fast, but by the time Rosa was found to be missing, at least 14 hours had passed. Or so everyone originally thought. The cops later found out that perhaps almost 24 hours had passed since Rosa Sandoval was last seen. Either way, not a trace of the missing girl could be found, and police activity reported in a careless way by local media led to baseless speculation against family. To this day, although one clue was eventually publicly released, police seem to be no closer to finding out what happened to Rosa.If you have any information about the murder of Rosa Sandoval, please contact Bexar County Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP, or 210-224-7868.You can help get #JusticeForBrittanyMcGlone by contributing to the reward fund by calling the Wood County Crime Stoppers at (903) 850-9060.Please donate to help get #JusticeForLeonLaureles at gofundme.com/f/leon-laureles-private-detective-and-memorialYou can support gone cold and listen ad-free at patreon.com/gonecoldpodcastFind us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by using @gonecoldpodcast and on YouTube at: youtube.com/c/gonecoldpodcastThe Website of the Washington State Office of the Attorney General, The San Antonio Express-News, FoxSanAntonio.com, KSAT.com, Court TV, Kens5.com, and WOAI.com were used as sources for this episode.#JusticeForRosaSandoval #SanAntonio #SanAntonioTX #BexarCountyTX #Texas #TX #GoneCold #GoneColdPodcast #TexasTrueCrime #TrueCrime #TrueCrimePodcast #Podcast #ColdCase #UnsolvedMysteries #Missing #Murder
