By Adam Olenn July 25, 2011 Originally from Blue River, Kentucky, guitarist Dave Reffett '06 is catching fire in the metal world. His Grammy-nominated album The Call of the Flames is packed with metal heavyweights like George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob), Chris Poland (Megadeth), Michael Angelo Batio (Nitro), Joe Stump (Holy Hell), Mike Mangini (Steve Vai, Extreme, Annihilator), and Glen Drover (Megadeth, King Diamond) and was mixed by Mudrock (Alice Cooper, Godsmack, Avenged Sevenfold) and mastered by George Marino (KISS, AC/DC, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix). He has been repeatedly featured in the pages of Guitar World magazine and on their Lick of the Day iPhone app. Reffett also appeared at the 2011 NAMM conference to help Esoterik Guitars showcase their Dave Reffett signature series guitars.
"Metal musician extraordinaire" Dave Reffett called in to Black Night Meditations to report on this year's NAMM Show convention, as well as the NAMM Metal Jam that Dave organized with other Metal & Rock musicians. Dave also spoke of his current and future music projects. Dave Reffett of Shredding The Envelope was in WSCA's studio for 5 hours, talking about Metal, soloing on the guitar and spinning tunes (this podcast is edited to feature only the in-studio discussion and Dave's soloing). WSCA's Assistant Metal Director & Turn It Up host Jim Alvino joined us for this special edition of BNM. The 3 of us delved into Dave's background, discussed S.T.E., and pondered his future. We also talked about band self-promotion, Dio, guitar players, and much more. Shredding The Envelope is Dave Reffett's project, melding Hard Rock & Heavy Metal with a serious axe attack. But STE is not just a collection of solos, it is an album of songs that are catchy yet ferocious, old-school yet modern, memorable but leaves you saying, "wow, what did I just hear?" www.myspace.com/shreddingtheenvelope Email/Requests: blacknightmeditations@msn.com Playlists: http://wsca.radioactivity.fm/show.html?showoid=1242&sort=new BLACK NIGHT MEDITATIONS - A heathenish foray along the shining path.
