This episode is about more than food. It's about understanding why we reach for certain foods, creating a realistic off-ramp from ultra-processed eating, and giving your body a chance to reset. If you've ever felt like you're doing everything right but still struggling with weight, energy, inflammation, or cravings, this episode is for you. Citation: Hall, Kevin D., et al. “Ultra-Processed Diets Cause Excess Calorie Intake and Weight Gain: An Inpatient Randomized Controlled Trial of Ad Libitum Food Intake.” Cell Metabolism, vol. 30, no. 1, 2019, pp. 67–77.e3. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cmet.2019.05.008 — This is the cornerstone. Same calories, sugar, fat, fiber, and macros on both diets; people ate ~500 kcal/day more on the ultra-processed one and gained weight. It's the strongest evidence that the processing, not just the nutrients, changes intake. Why fat + sugar together hijack reward more than either alone (the “hyperpalatable” mechanism) DiFeliceantonio, Alexandra G., et al. “Supra-Additive Effects of Combining Fat and Carbohydrate on Food Reward.” Cell Metabolism, vol. 28, no. 1, 2018, pp. 33–44.e3. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cmet.2018.05.018 McDougle, Molly, et al. “Separate Gut-Brain Circuits for Fat and Sugar Reinforcement Combine to Promote Overeating.” Cell Metabolism, vol. 36, no. 2, 2024, pp. 393–407. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cmet.2023.12.014 — Together these support your point that engineered fat-plus-sugar foods (the Doritos idea) light up reward pathways more than natural foods, because fat and sugar run on separate gut-brain circuits that combine. Why “glycemic velocity” matters — hidden refined starches like maltodextrin Hofman, Denise L., et al. “Nutrition, Health, and Regulatory Aspects of Digestible Maltodextrins.” Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, vol. 56, no. 12, 2016, pp. https://doi.org/10.1080/10408398.2014.940415 — Supports the egg-bite/maltodextrin point: maltodextrin is a refined starch with a glycemic index around 85–110, higher than table sugar, hiding on labels as “modified food starch.” Backs your “what the calories came from” framing. Why these foods genuinely relieve stress (your central, original thesis) Ulrich-Lai, Yvonne M., et al. “Pleasurable Behaviors Reduce Stress via Brain Reward Pathways.” Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, vol. 107, no. 47, 2010, pp. https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.1007740107 Tomiyama, A. Janet, et al. “Comfort Food Is Comforting to Those Most Stressed: Evidence of the Chronic Stress Response Network in High Stress Women.” Psychoneuroendocrinology, vol. 36, no. 10, 2011, pp. 1513–1519. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.psyneuen.2011.04.005 — This is the science behind “the food was doing something right.” Palatable food measurably dampens the HPA (cortisol) stress axis through reward pathways — which is exactly why pulling it without replacing the stress tool fails. Why cravings are state-dependent and rise with stress (the “urge depends on the state of your blood / stress level” claim) Adam, Tanja C., and Elissa S. Epel. “Stress, Eating and the Reward System.” Physiology & Behavior, vol. 91, no. 4, 2007, pp. 449–458. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.physbeh.2007.04.011 Darcey, Valerie L., et al. “Brain Dopamine Responses to Ultra-Processed Milkshakes Are Highly Variable and Not Significantly Related to Adiposity in Humans.” Cell Metabolism, vol. 37, no. 3, 2025, pp. 616–628. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cmet.2025.02.002 (edited) WHAT TO EAT FOR THE NEXT SIX WEEKS — Protein. Plant. Potato. (P³) The formula for every meal: one protein + one plant + one starch (potato, or beans and rice). Add fat — olive oil, butter, avocado, cheese, nuts. Add flavor — salt, pepper, garlic, lemon, vinegar, salsa, hot sauce, herbs. This is not the meal you dreamed of. This is the meal that sets you free. BREAKFAST Eggs + sautéed vegetables + fruit on the side Plain Greek yogurt + berries + a handful of nuts Leftover chicken or beef + potato + vegetables (last night's dinner works) LUNCH Chicken + roasted potato + green salad with olive oil and lemon Tuna + white beans + cucumber + tomato, dressed with olive oil and vinegar Beef + potato + peppers + salsa DINNER Sheet-pan chicken + potatoes + green beans Instant Pot chicken + potato + a vegetable Burger patty (no bun) + potato + salad Batch chili (beef + beans + tomato) over rice Baked fish + sweet potato + roasted broccoli Pork + beans and rice + sautéed greens THE DURESS PLATE — for when the day collapses One protein + one plant + one starch, zero cooking. Examples: • Hard-boiled eggs + apple + handful of nuts • Tuna + canned beans + cucumber, with olive oil • Pre-cooked/frozen ground beef + frozen vegetables + microwave potato • String cheese + fruit + a few nuts (in a real pinch) SIMPLE RECIPES Sheet-Pan Chicken & Potatoes (serves 4) Toss chicken thighs and quartered baby potatoes in olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic. Roast at 425°F (220°C) ~35–40 min. Add green beans for the last 15 min. Batch Chili (serves 6) Brown 2 lb ground beef with chopped onion. Add 2 cans diced tomatoes, 2 cans beans (drained), garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt. Simmer 30+ min. Freezes well — make once, eat all week. Serve over rice. Instant Pot Chicken Chicken breasts + ½ cup broth + salt, garlic, paprika. Pressure cook 10 min, natural release 5. Shred. Pairs with any potato + vegetable. The 5-Minute Tuna Bean Bowl Can of tuna + can of white beans (rinsed) + diced cucumber and tomato. Dress with olive oil, lemon or vinegar, salt, pepper. Microwave Potato, Done Right Pierce a potato, microwave 5–7 min. Split, add butter or olive oil, salt, pepper. The reliable, universal starch. Remember: Don't aim for one perfect week repeated six times. Just follow the basic protocol the best you can for six weeks. When a craving hits, run the nine-minute interrupt from Episode 14. Two years ago I was drowning in information, blaming everyone else for my plateau. The data was exploding—dizzying, endless—yet my ability to absorb, retain, and act felt flatlined. I learned that information overload isn't the enemy; our digital habits are. The onset of dopamine floods from social apps turned focus into a muscle we barely trained. The fix wasn't a miracle app or a bigger laptop; it was a ruthless morning ritual and a ruthless not-to-do list. Top performers outlearn the world by protecting the first hour: no phone, no doomscroll, no reactive mail. A simple sequence—breathing, brief planning, and a 3-step focus trigger—forces momentum before the inbox can hijack it. You also decide what not to do; you decline non-negotiables that would drain energy for real leaps. The result isn't another hack; it's a shift in identity: you begin to own your hours, your attention, and your results. If you're chasing billionaire impact, this blueprint isn't optional—it's required.

Em shares the raw, personal origin story behind her popular fitness program, Shred with Em. It started not as a business plan, but as a desperate need for structure during one of the hardest seasons of her life — seven months postpartum, struggling with undiagnosed postpartum depression, and feeling unrecognizable in her own body. What began with a simple 21-day online challenge grew into a passion for helping women, then a coaching practice, and ultimately the Shred — a six-week macro-based fat loss program that has now transformed the lives of 10,000+ women. Clutter has a way of building quietly, and before long it starts affecting more than just how your desk looks. In this episode, Brian Thompson takes an honest look at how small pockets of disorganization pile up during busy seasons and what they actually cost you, not just in time, but in decision-making, financial clarity, and the ability to move your business forward. Coming off tax season, Brian gets personal about his own clutter habits and offers a simple, practical approach to clearing the backlog without overhauling everything at once. Clutter Is About Avoidance, Not Organization Brian opens with a candid admission. His desktop is full, his inboxes are sitting at over 600 emails each, and his physical mail has been piling up. For someone who considers himself organized and structured, it's a telling pattern. As a seasoned business owner, Brian has come to recognize that the buildup of clutter isn't because he's disorganized, it's avoidance. And avoidance has consequences. The Real Cost of Clutter in Your Business Every pile is a decision that hasn't been made yet. The email sitting in the inbox, the document on the desktop, the piece of mail that hasn't been opened. Each one is waiting for something from you. When those decisions stack up, they don't just sit there quietly. They create background stress, a subtle but persistent feeling of being behind, even when other parts of the business are going well. Over time, that friction slows everything down. The impact shows up in the numbers too. Disorganization can lead to missed deductions, late fees and penalties, invoices that don't get sent or paid, and a cash flow picture that feels unclear. When the financial picture isn't clear, decision-making slows down. Hesitation around hiring, marketing investment, or raising prices often has less to do with whether the move is right and more to do with not feeling confident in the information available. That hesitation has a real cost. A Simple Approach to Clearing the Clutter Brian breaks the cleanup into three areas, each with a practical and low-pressure starting point. Your digital space. A cluttered desktop and scattered files create friction every time you sit down to work. Brian's recommendation is to set up a small number of core folders: finances, clients, marketing, operations, and personal. Then start moving files into the right place. The goal is creating a system consistent enough that you can find what you need without thinking too hard about it. Your email inbox. Every email is asking something from you, your time, your attention, or a response. When there are hundreds of them, it becomes easy to avoid the whole thing, and that's where things slip through the cracks. Brian's approach is simple: open each email and make one decision. Respond, archive, delete, or schedule it for later. This intentional step is enough to get started. Your physical mail. Despite the mounds of junk mail, this is often where the most important things show up. IRS notices, bank statements, insurance renewals. Brian has seen it happen with clients too: a notice that's due tomorrow turns out to have been sitting on the desk for 30 days. Avoiding the mail doesn't make it go away. It usually makes it more expensive. Start by sorting into two piles, junk and important, work through the important pile first to make sure no deadlines have passed, then deal with the junk. Shred anything containing identifying information. Your Action Step Block off 60 minutes this week for a CEO Cleanup Session. Twenty minutes for your desktop and files, twenty minutes for your inbox, and twenty minutes for your physical mail. Set a timer and start making decisions. The goal is not to eliminate clutter forever. It's to notice where you're avoiding something and take one step forward. You will feel more clear, more in control, and less behind on the other side. Megadeth exists because Dave Mustaine got fired from Metallica in 1983 and spent forty years proving a point. Faster, more technical, more aggressive, the early run—Killing Is My Business, Peace Sells, Rust in Peace—defined precision thrash and political edge. The band moves in cycles: Countdown and Youthanasia bring mainstream success, Risk abandons identity and fails, the 2000s reset with System Has Failed and Endgame restores credibility, then Super Collider drifts again. Dystopia and The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead! reestablish control. That pattern holds: when Megadeth commits to itself, it works. In 2026, they release Megadeth, album seventeen, produced by Mustaine and Rakestraw. No experimentation, no genre drift—tight, modern thrash. It debuts #1 (~70K units), with mixed-positive reviews citing consistency over innovation. Built as a final statement, supported by a farewell tour, it consolidates the catalog rather than expands it.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

From the first breath of this game, you have a choice: stay the old version that suffocates or sprint toward a version that refuses permission. I've ridden through days when I wondered how I'd pay the bills, and I kept going while everything screamed quit. The secret isn't luck; it's a trail of decisions that compounds into domination. You shed skin and fear, and you commit to a version of you that asks for nothing and delivers everything. The cringe isn't a warning; it's a gateway to growth. Each morning in the mirror you remind yourself: this pain is the price of a bigger future. The Mamba mentality—constant improvement, ruthless focus, unflinching discipline—is not about perfection; it's about stacking wins until they roar. If you want leverage that turns ambition into reality, you must embrace isolation, doubt, and the long run. This is the story of a path forged through fire and a person who refuses to quit. You'll hear how to keep going when the storm hits, and why loving the process is the only way out.
What if Billy Corgan had taken a completely different path?A rare 1985 guitar solo has surfaced—and it reveals a side of Corgan that few fans have ever heard. Before the rise of The Smashing Pumpkins, he was playing with a fast, technical, almost neoclassical style—reminiscent of shred guitarists like Yngwie Malmsteen. This audio highlight featuring Greg Prato, author of I Am One: The Smashing Pumpkins Story, 1988–1994, explores that surprising moment in Corgan's early development—and what it tells us about the evolution of his sound. “The simple believe everything, but the prudent give thought to their steps.” — Proverbs 14:15 In a world where scams are increasingly sophisticated, Scripture reminds us that precaution is not paranoia—it's stewardship. Protecting the resources God has entrusted to us isn't just practical; it's spiritual. Today's threats may come through phone calls, emails, text messages, or even impersonations of people we trust. But as followers of Christ, we are not called to live in fear—we are called to walk in wisdom. So what does wise, faithful stewardship look like in a digital age? 1. Slow Down and Verify Scammers thrive on urgency. They want you to act before you think. If someone pressures you—claiming to be your bank, a government agency, or even a loved one—pause. Hang up. Verify the source using official contact information. Remember: Pressure is a red flag. Wisdom takes a breath. 2. Be Wise About How You Send Money One of the clearest warning signs of fraud is how payment is requested. Never send money via wire transfer, gift cards, or peer-to-peer apps (like Zelle or Venmo) to someone you don't personally know. Legitimate organizations will not demand payment this way. If something feels off, trust that instinct and walk away. 3. Use Tools That Protect You Not all payment methods are created equal. Use credit cards when shopping online—they typically offer stronger fraud protection than debit cards. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on financial accounts—it's like adding a deadbolt to your digital front door. Use an authenticator app when possible instead of text-based codes. These simple steps dramatically reduce your vulnerability. 4. Strengthen Your Passwords Weak or reused passwords are one of the easiest entry points for thieves. Use a password manager like Bitwarden or NordPass to create and store strong, unique passwords. Avoid reusing the same password across multiple accounts. Think of your passwords as keys—each door should have its own. 5. Monitor and Lock Down Your Accounts Staying alert can help you catch problems early. Set up bank alerts for large transactions or unusual activity. Freeze your credit with all three major bureaus—it's free and highly effective against identity theft. This is like installing an alarm system for your finances. 6. Be Cautious Online and in Public Convenience can sometimes come at a cost. Avoid accessing financial accounts on public Wi-Fi unless you're using a VPN. Only log into accounts on your personal devices. Limit what you share on social media—details like birthdays, family names, or locations can be used against you. Not everything needs to be public. 7. Protect Your Physical Information Digital security matters—but so does what's on paper. Shred documents containing sensitive information like bank statements, tax forms, or medical records. Be cautious of phishing emails or messages—even if they appear to come from someone you know. When in doubt, verify before you click. 8. Make It a Family Conversation Scammers often target the most vulnerable—especially older adults and teenagers. Take time to: Talk with your family about common scams Share what you're learning Stay informed together Stewardship is not just personal—it's communal. 9. Use Caution After Data Breaches If a company offers identity theft protection after a breach: Take advantage of it—but verify first Contact the company directly through their official website or number Don't trust links or instructions in unsolicited messages. Faithful Stewardship Without Fear There's no question that in today's world, financial faithfulness includes digital awareness. Guarding your data, protecting your family, and staying alert to fraud are essential parts of stewardship. But this isn't about fear—it's about faith expressed through wisdom. With a few intentional steps, you can protect what God has entrusted to you and live with peace—not panic. If you're looking for a simple way to manage your money and grow in faithful stewardship, the FaithFi app can help. It's designed to help you handle God's resources with clarity and purpose. You can download it today at FaithFi.com/App. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions: I've been helping a friend financially while he's unemployed, but it's starting to strain me. He has no credit and doesn't know where to start. How can he build a financial foundation—and how can I help without hurting myself? I need to update my will and mainly want to pass my home to my children. I've heard a trust might be better. Can I set that up without an attorney? I'm working to rebuild my credit after medical debt, but I want to avoid taking on new debt. What are my options—and would borrowing against my paid-off home help or hurt? I was told I could pay off my $125,000 mortgage faster by moving it to a HELOC and running my income through it. Is that strategy legitimate? Birthdays should be a celebration of life, but they are often met with resistance as we get older. As society becomes more and more obsessed with youth, we dismiss the belief that midlife has anything of value to offer us. But what if the second half of life includes much more than aches and pains? What if midlife and beyond hold the potential for deeper curiosity, joy, purpose, and relationships? When we finally give zero f#cks, we can start living life on our own terms. This is the gift of getting older if we choose to accept it. As we take in the early signs of spring, consider the beauty ready to bloom in your life. Embrace your age, embrace your one wild, precious life! What am I reading?Letting Magic In by Maia Tollhttps://bookshop.org/a/111301/9780762480418The Untethered Soul by Micheal A. Step number one of setting up the Sunday Basket® is always the Big Sort. For the first time, I'm going into a detailed explanation of how to complete your big sort. After the big sort and decision making, you will feel empowered. It's time to dust off your Sunday Basket® if you have one because the next few episodes are all about setting up your Sunday Basket® and managing your cognitive load to be productive! If you are getting ready to purchase your Sunday Basket® please note there is a Classic Sunday Basket® and the Complete Sunday Basket®, when ordering. I explained the difference in this episode. The Big Sort Ok, so to start, you need a couple laundry baskets. You need to gather all the paper in your house. Yes, even your hiding places. Remember when company was on their way over and you shoved the paper pile somewhere? I've seen it all and I know all about the laundry room, your garage, backpacks, and lots of other places because I saw it in all my organizing client's homes. I'm guilty too! Here's the caveat: If you have newspapers, magazines, or catalogs, place them where you've been collecting paper, otherwise those laundry baskets are going to get really heavy. However, we are not collecting filing cabinet paper or paper nex to the filing cabinet that is waiting to be filed. We'll address them in May. First, we're going to address newspapers, magazines, and catalogs. If they are a passion of yours, keep them. If you can come up with a plan to read them if that is important to you then set up an area maybe next to your chair, so you will actually look at them but then recycle them once you have read them. And last I grant you an amnesty day. Recycle all of them. If it's the news, it's old anyway. And you likely have a subscription so the new ones are on their way. Also, create a rule on when you will read them and how soon after you will recycle them. I have a routine where I read a newsletter and look through a catalog when I process my Sunday Basket®. Laundry Baskets It's time to sort the, what 2 or 3 laundry baskets you filled? I like to sort in the kitchen because I like the height of the counter. You need to set up 4 laundry baskets or banker's boxes with labels: Recycle, Shred, Archive, Active. They are pretty self explanatory except "Active". The active papers are going to end up in the Sunday Basket®. These steps can take weeks. It may be to overwhelming to do all of this in one pass. Remember I say, unapologetically, it's going to take time to get organized. And there's still one more thing you need to do to conclude the big sort. You Are Already Managing It All You need to empty your brain. Get a couple packs of index cards. You are going to sit down and just write down all the things your brain is thinking of. You will end up with a pile of thoughts. I know it looks overwhelming but the truth is, this is everything you are trying to manage without help. It can be things you need to remember for that day, something you need to renew or pay, something that you want to do for the next holiday, birthdays, whatever comes to mind! BUT, one thought per card. There is a method to my madness. Now you have active and archive papers and allllllll these index cards. Fear not! In the next episode, we are going to talk about the slash pockets that came with your Sunday Basket®. We are going to organize all that paper and you index cards and remove the overwhelm. In the meantime, If you see any task or item that cannot wait till the next episode, you must complete them. Put them on the list for a day this week and get them done!
