Hosts Patrick Prince (Goldmine editor) and Holden Russiano (Luna Record Shop) talk about creating a Progressive Rock sub-genre category in the record store racks: "Prog 2.0." Why not? As prog transitioned from the '70s to the '80s, it became more commercially accessible and, dare we say, catchy. Should there be a section dedicated to just that? (And author Martin Popoff did a Top 20 Prog 2.0 for the Goldmine website to guide us!) Listen in — it's like hanging out in a record store and talking shop! Learn more about your ad choices. This week we talk with musician and music professor Alan Williams about his new record, Floating on the Dreamline, available digitally March 6th. For more information, check out his website.Alan's record is full of great music that spans genres. We dive into what inspires him and how he put the album together. We also go deep on a lot of music as a whole, including where some of the legends rank with new generations of music students. Our conversation was really interesting and went into so much depth, we had to make two episodes. Both Luke and Alan were battling illness when we chatted. The opening minutes may sound a bit strained, but we promise everyone's voice gets stronger as the conversation gets going!
To sum up, our Lord turns to the people giving them a heads-up on the differences between eating and sinning.Well His disciples wanted further instruction as to what He meant by the parable. The Lord Jesus was amazed that even the disciples did not understand the difference between the material and the spiritual, between eating food which goes into the stomach and is flushed away and the sins which come from the heart and defile a person before God.Mark goes on to show an incident in the region of Tyre on the north coast. Here the Lord Jesus honors the faith of a gentile woman. The Lord answers her request even though she was not under the covenant of Israel. Christ honors faith in Him wherever it is found. Here is Dr. Mitchell, Mark 7:14, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.
Jesus confronts the Pharisees whose foolishness was revealed by their holding to the tradition of man made rules and were in effect making the very Word of God of no value at all. We are in Mark 7:1-13. Jesus rebukes these religious rulers for setting aside the very Word of God in order to keep their traditions. Our Lord gives an example of the priority of the Word of God over man made rules as regards one's responsibility to one's parents. These rulers were rejecting the Word of God by placing their tradition as the priority of what to believe and how to live in family relationships. The Word of God has the priority of authority in one's life. It should be placed as priority over man made rules. Here is Dr. Mitchell, Mark 7:1, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, .

Jesus' power over nature is demonstrated in this lesson. We are in Mark 6:45-56.Our Lord, having gone up to a mountain to pray, and subsequently began walking on the water of the sea of Galilee. The disciples saw Him and were frightened because He appeared to them to be a phantom, a ghost. This happened at night, between 3-6 in the morning. How did they see Him at night? Here our Lord is so precious to us. He first encourages them personally, saying ‘Take heart, or be of good cheer' and then identifies Himself, ‘It is I', and then says ‘Stop being afraid.' The Lord Jesus can and will identify Himself to the heart of each of us who are trusting Jesus Himself in the midst of the storm. Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Mark 6:45.

In our passage, Mark 6:30-44, Mark presents the Savior once again. Here Jesus cares for His disciples and takes them on a retreat to rest for a while. Then Jesus feeds 5000 men and their families. He does this miracle because He had compassion of them for they were like sheep without a shepherd, so He taught them. Have experienced the compassion of our Lord Jesus? This miracle is the only one that is recorded in all 4 gospels. And in the Gospel of John this miracle is followed by Jesus's statement that He is the bread of life, both in His person and His work, that has come down from heaven to give life to the world. John 6. Jesus is the bread of life.Let's open our Bible to Mark 6:30 with Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.
Mark now gives us a passage that shows the Lord sending out the twelve disciples two by two, in pairs. They were to preach and to cast out demons and anoint the sick that they may be healed. This is what they did.Dr. Mitchell declares how this shows us the encouragement of those who travel together in the gospel. He notes the partnership of Peter and John, Barnabas and Paul and Paul and Silas in the book of Acts. The disciples then returned and reported to Jesus all they had done and taught. This outreach by Jesus even reached the ears of King Herod. Dr. Mitchell then gives us an overview of Herod's treatment of John the Baptist whom he had beheaded, for no good reason.Let's turn to Mark 6:7 with Dr. Mitchell. Your listening to the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Have you heard the saying, “Familiarity breeds contempt?”In our passage, Mark 6:1-8, this phrase is exemplified. Our Lord Jesus had come into his own country, his own town and into his own family. Here our Lord is teaching in their synagogue. People, hearing Him teach, were astonished. What were they amazed at? They were amazed at His wisdom and His miracles. After all, they thought, He is only an ordinary carpenter. And the unbelieving people were offended at Him. Jesus, too, was amazed - at their unbelief.Jesus' words are so true, “A prophet is not with out honor except in his hometown, and among his relatives and in his household.” Have you ever experienced this rejection from anyone who is close to you because of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? It does happen doesn't it? I know. Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Mark 6:1-8

Our study resumes in Mark 5:6 as Jesus confronts an unclean spirit. Notice in vs 8 Jesus' command and in vs 13 Jesus' permission. Jesus has authority over spirits to this day.Dr. Mitchell explains the reason people wanted Jesus to leave their region. They had suffered an economic loss. Then in verses 19-20, observe that the man was to proclaim what great things the Lord had done for him, so he told what great things Jesus had done for him.Do you have things, great or small that the Lord Jesus has done for you that you can tell others about? How about His forgiveness of sins? How about God declaring you to be as righteous as the Savior thru faith in Christ? Is this not a great thing? Yes indeed. Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Mark 5:6.

For our february episode we finally complete the 70s by discussing our favourite songs of 1974! You can expect lots of prog, much more krautrock than expected (particularly from Tracey), some funk classics, sparkly glam bangers, and most of the members of The Byrds. We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We then ranked the playlists in order of preference and sent them back to Helen, who totalled up the points and worked out the order. She also joined us on the episode to read out the countdown, which we found out as we recorded so all reactions are genuine. Now, admittedly, in parts we're a little bit brutal to some of the songs in the list as we're three separate people with differing music tastes, but please remember that to be in this episode at all the songs have to have been in one of our top 10's of that year.Bands featured in this episode include (In alphabetical order, no spoilers here!) - Kevin Ayers, Big Star, David Bowie, James Brown, Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band, Gene Clark, Cluster, Deep Purple, Brian Eno, Focus, Fred Frith, Harmonia, Keith Hudson, King Crimson, Kiss, Kraftwerk, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Curtis Mayfield, Roger McGuinn, Mike Oldfield, Parliament, Gram Parsons, Pilot, Queen, Roxy Music, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Sparks, Steely Dan, Tangerine Dream, & Rick Wakeman.Find all songs in alphabetical order here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5DIrU8fLeTxerh4wHJTWDq?si=6e2bfca9066b44e2Find our We Dig Music Pollwinners Party playlist (featuring all of the winning songs up until now) here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/45zfDHo8zm6VqrvoEQSt3z?si=Ivt0oMj6SmitimvumYfFrQIf you want to listen to megalength playlists of all the songs we've individually picked since we started doing best of the year episodes (which need updating but I plan on doing them over the next few months or so), you can listen to Colin's here – https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5x3Vy5Jry2IxG9JNOtabRT?si=HhcVKRCtRhWCK1KucyrDdgIan's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2H0hnxe6WX50QNQdlfRH5T?si=XmEjnRqISNqDwi30p1uLqAand Tracey's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2p3K0n8dKhjHb2nKBSYnKi?si=7a-cyDvSSuugdV1m5md9NwThe playlist of 20 songs from the other two hosts was scored as usual, our favourite song got 20 points, counting down incrementally to our least favourite which got 1 point. The scoring of our own list of 10 is now slightly more complicated in order to give a truer level of points to our own favourites. So rather than them only being able to score as many points as our 10th favourite in the other list, the points in our own list were distributed as follows -1st place - 20 points2nd place - 18 points3rd place – 16 points4th place – 14 points5th place – 12 points6th place – 9 points7th place – 7 points8th place – 5 points9th place – 3 points10th place -1 pointHosts - Ian Clarke, Colin Jackson-Brown & Tracey BGuest starring Helen Jackson-Brown.Playlist compiling/distributing – Helen Jackson-BrownRecorded/Edited/Mixed/Original Music by Colin Jackson-Brown for We Dig PodcastsThanks to Peter Latimer for help with the scoring system.Part of the We Dig Podcasts network along with Free With This Months Issue & Pick A Disc.Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/wedigmusic.bsky.socialInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wedigmusicpcast/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/wedigpusicpcast/Find our other episodes & podcasts at www.wedigpodcasts.com

Produced by Joseph Cottrell, Wayne Hall, Ken Fuller and Jeffrey Crecelius This week we were delighted to welcome Yes drummer Jay Schellen back on the YMP. Just like last time, we had a lovely conversation and Jay shared his thoughts about the forthcoming UK and European Fragile Tour as well as the new Yes album that is now being prepared for release in July (hopefully). It's clear from our interview that Jay is totally committed to the future development of the band and believes that the new album will be warmly received. We look forward to that, of course. What unexpected item does Jay take with him on tour? How does his kit differ from Alan White's Has Jay been more involved in the writing of the forthcoming album than his previous Yes records? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Drama and Fragile Live - last time! YES - FRAGILE UK TOUR 2026 YES Receive Stunning Reviews from USA leg of their FRAGILE tour, which they bring to the UK in April and May 2026. “Yes, quite possibly the most important Prog Rock originators and granddaddies of the genre, delivered deep cuts and their groundbreaking classic album, “Fragile,” in its glorious, delightfully indulgent, layered, and ambitious grandiosity tonight.” Sonic Nation, 11/10/25 “Prog-rock stalwarts Yes took the stage...bringing new energy to their classic sound.” --Danielle Modica, NYS Music, 10/9/25 “Truly prog rock at its finest, if I do say so myself. They've still got the groove, the intensity, and the mythicality that established them as such a unique act over 50 years ago.” Rock DNA Magazine - 5 stars – 5/10/25 Progressive Rock legends, YES, recently returned from the USA where they performed 31 shows on their Fragile Tour across the country. They hit the road in the UK once more for a 9-date trek across the country starting on 22nd April at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow and ending with a two-night run at the prestigious Palladium in London on 3rd and 4th May. The tour will see YES performing their 1971 classic album, ‘Fragile', in its entirety, including such timeless songs as ‘Heart of the Sunrise', ‘South Side of the Sky' and the much loved ‘Roundabout' as well as a selection of songs from right across their illustrious catalogue from their legendary 70`s releases right up to their current album, ‘Mirror To the Sky.' ‘Fragile' was the fourth album by YES cracking the Top 10 in the UK in 1971 achieving Platinum status along the way and was the first to feature keyboardist Rick Wakeman. The single, ‘Roundabout' was a Top 20 hit in the States with the album breaking into the Top 5 on the Billboard chart receiving a Double Platinum certification in the process. Steve Howe: “After The Yes Album, everything seemed to align. With Eddie Offord co-producing, and each of us contributing solo pieces, Fragile became a bold statement of creativity. It was Bill Bruford's idea to include individual showcases—it was a bit oddball, but it captured the spirit of the time.” Each show will feature a gallery of work by esteemed artist, Roger Dean, whose paintings have graced the covers of many of YES albums over the years. ‘Fragile' was the first YES album to feature Dean`s iconic artwork. The current line-up of YES features Steve Howe, whose association with Yes began in 1970, along with Geoff Downes, a member of the 1980 ‘Drama' era line-up. Jon Davison has been lead vocalist in Yes since 2012 while bassist, Billy Sherwood, who was hand-picked by original bassist Chris Squire, has been involved with YES since 1990`s. Jay Schellen, who worked closely with Alan White on drums, completes the line-up. Steve Howe: “We're all looking forward to the UK dates and will be presenting an intriguing first set then all of ‘Fragile', in its entirety then a slight diversion before our usual final encore. See you all then” The ‘Fragile' UK Tour Dates 2026 Wed 22nd April Glasgow Royal Concert Hall glasgowlife.org.uk Fri 24th April Sheffield City Hall sheffieldcityhall.co.uk Sat 25th April Liverpool Philharmonic Hall liverpoolphil.co.uk Mon 27th April Birmingham Symphony Hall bmusic.co.uk Tue 28th April Bournemouth Pavilion bournemouthpavillion.co.uk Thur 30th April Bristol Beacon bristolbeacon.org Fri 1st May Manchester Bridgewater Hall bridgewater-hall.co.uk Sun 3rd May London Palladium lwtheatres.co.uk Mon 4th May London Palladium lwtheatres.co.uk Tickets (subject to booking fees) go on general sale on Friday 19th September at 10am from BookingsDirect.com About YES Steve Howe: guitars, backing vocals (1970 –1981, 1990–1992, 1995–present) Geoff Downes: keyboards (1980–1981, 2011–present) Jon Davison: lead vocals, acoustic guitar (2012–present) Billy Sherwood: guitar, backing vocals ((1994, 1997–2000), bass guitar, backing vocals (2015–present) Jay Schellen: drums and percussion (2016-present) Formed in 1968 by Jon Anderson and the late Chris Squire with guitarist Steve Howe joining in 1971 for ‘The Yes Album', YES have been one of the most innovative, influential and best-loved bands in rock music history. We now come into chapter 5 of the Gospel of Mark. We will be reading and studying the first 6 verses.Dr. Mitchell brings out the fact that a dominate note in this gospel is Jesus casting out of demons. The Gospel of Mark seems to demonstrate the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ to cast out demons. He still has that authority to this day. By His resurrection and ascension and exaltation to the right hand of God, angels, authorities, and powers have been made subject to HIM.He is exalted far above all principality, power and might and dominion. Jesus is Lord of all.Dr. Mitchell warns about an evil device used today to invite demonic activity into one's life. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood.Let's turn, with Dr. Mitchell, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, to Mark 5:1-6.

Our Lord now finishes up His four parables, as they are presented in the Gospel of Mark. They speak of growth. Furthermore, Jesus explained these things to His disciples when they were together with Him. Do you see the privilege, advantage and benefit of spending time with the Savior in order for Him to help us understand His Word?Mark then goes on to show our Lord with His disciples in the midst of a storm being tossed by the wind and sea on the sea of Galilee. Here is Jesus, bringing us, His disciples, through the storm. As Dr. Mitchell says, “We are far safer in the storm with Jesus than anywhere else”. Remember, the Lord Jesus is called Immanuel, meaning ‘God with us'! Let's look to Jesus the author and perfecter of faith. Here is Dr. Mitchell, Mark 4:26. This is the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.
This week we talk with musician and music professor Alan Williams about his new record, Floating on the Dreamline, available digitally March 6th. For more information, check out his website.

Going on, we now proceed to two other parables that Jesus spoke. The first has to do with the lamp and it's light. Where should the lamp and it's light be put? These are questions which the Lord asks. Light dispels darkness. We, who know Christ as savior, are a light to the world both in words and deeds. Dr. Mitchell makes mention of the fact that God is light. Are we walking in the Light? Therefore Jesus said, take care what you hear. What is going into your ears?Is it the Word of God? Faith comes from hearing and hearing comes from the word of Christ. Rom.10:17Secondly, Jesus compares the kingdom of God to a man who sows seed and it grows to maturity and is harvested.Let's turn to Mark 4:21 with Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Produced by Joseph Cottrell, Wayne Hall, Ken Fuller and Jeffrey Crecelius This week, Mark and I had a lot of fun on one of our Yes Guess Who quizzes. Also, as you'll hear, we veered a little off-topic in both the answer section of the quiz and in a two pence segment that was supposed to be about Yes and Yes-related Record Store Day releases, but we enjoyed a little bit of less serious chat a couple of times there. In the quiz, we each had five quotations from Yes men to try and fox each other with and, this time, I think they were quite a bit more difficult than the previous two outings of this game. Like last time, there were two points for attributing the quotation correctly and one for guessing the decade in which it was said. (That's really the least reliable part of the quiz and just there to add a little extra spice, or whatever.) I also had a bonus point available for Mark on one question, so listen out for that. Who said what? When did they say it? Who won the competition? Do add your own scores to the comments below and tell us what you thought of the questions this time.
