With a little help from filmmaker Ben Wheatley, our 2000 AD obsession kicks into high gear this week. The filmmaker behind such brutally banger movies as Kill List, A Field in England, High-Rise, and this year's Bob Odenkirk actioner, Normal, joins the podcast to discuss his eight-chaptered 2000 AD comic, Judge Dee, which recently wrapped in Prog 2487. Even better, Judge Dee is a sequel to an iconic Judge Dredd story from forty-two years ago, The Haunting of Sector House 9, which encouraged us to dig deep in the franchise's history. It's only fitting that Wheatley layers his 2000 AD tale with a classic, 80s-era cinematic sub-genre, the buddy-cop adventure. It's a little Lethal Weapon, but maybe even more Heart Condition, for those that can recall that complicated (ie problematic) Denzel Washington/Bob Hoskins ghost cop comedy. Ya see, PSI Judge Dee carries a secret. Wherever she travels, she's got a demonic passenger with her, Klato. However, this is not a case of a filmmaker making their way to comics for a little fun. Wheatley is a lifelong Prog reader. It's been his dream to finally scrounge around Mega-City One and add a little lore to this massive universe. Given the opportunity, he knew he wanted to springboard from The Haunting of Sector House 9, pick up where that horror left off, only decades later, and deliver his unique, grotesque, and funky perspective. This week, we're talking Judge Dredd, binary thinking, buddy cops, and surviving the dystopian present with Ben Wheatley. Judge Dee is written by Wheatley, illustrated by Simon Coleby, colored by Jack Davies, and lettered by Simon Bowland. Judge Dee chapters one through five can be found in Progs 2467 - 2471, and Judge Dee chapters six through eight can be found in Progs 2485 - 2487. You can find them all on 2000AD's website. You can follow Ben Wheatley on Instagram. This Week's Sponsors The Future is Calling! 2000 AD is the Galaxy's Greatest Comic, with new issues published every single week! Luke now writes to Theophilus that Jesus left Nazareth to go down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. Jesus continues teaching in the synagogue there on the sabbath.Luke shows there - a man there who had a spirit of an unclean demon. Luke 4:33-34.Dr. Mitchell then points out that there is no doubt in hell nor in Heaven who Jesus is but only among the people of thisearth. It is man who has the most difficulty in believing in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is indeed the Holy One of God, who is so because He is God in the flesh. The demon knew Jesus as a man being from Nazareth, the city where Jesus was raised from a youth.Jesus doesn't allow demons to proclaim who He is. Dr. Mitchell proclaims Jesus, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Luke 4:31.

Produced by Joseph Cottrell, Wayne Hall, Ken Fuller and Jeffrey Crecelius It's been a week of huge contrasts. Aurora was released and Mark and I chat about the physical copies later in the episode but I also had the news from Clive Ayer that Yes' first manager, Roy Flynn, died this week. Clive kindly agreed to come and share his recollections of Roy but before. Here are two tributes, the first from Yes' current management team and the second from Dave Watkinson: All of us at QEDG are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Roy Flynn, Yes's very first manager, there at the beginning, “beyond and before,” when everything was still forming, still becoming. Roy believed in the band at a time when the path was uncertain, when the music was still finding its voice. He gave not just guidance, but energy, faith, and his own resources, helping to spark something that would grow far beyond those early days. In those first steps, from small stages to a recording contract, he helped set the course, quietly shaping the direction of a journey that would travel many roads. He saw the light in it, the possibility, the dream… and helped carry that “astral traveller” out into the world. His time with Yes was only a moment in the greater story, but like all true beginnings, it mattered, deeply and permanently. The echoes of that belief remain, still moving, still reaching. We send our love and condolences to his family and friends. And with gratitude, we remember Roy. One of those who stood at the dawn, when the music first turned and began to flow, when “love makes the world go round,” and the journey of Yes first found its wings. Martin Darvill Chairman, QEDG Management We are all very thankful for his dedication, money, foresight, and for unknowingly helping start such an important band. We look back fondly to those early days, so fresh and new, with big dreams and relentless energy. Thank you, Roy. Jesus spoke to those in the synagogue in Nazareth, His hometown. Those who heard Him become very angry to the point of rejecting Jesus and an attempt to kill the Lord. These attitudes and actions reveal our Lord's word which He spoke in verse 24 of Luke 4, “Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in His hometown.”What did Jesus expose to them from the Word of God that revealed their unbelief in Him?He told them, that He Himself fulfills this prophecy from Isaiah. He then sited two examples from the Scripture of Gentiles outside Israel who WHO DID HAVE FAITH in God's prophets, Elijah and Elisha. Peter writes, “We have the more sure word of prophecy to which you do well to pay attention to...” 2 Peter.1:19Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Luke 4:18.
In this study, Luke writes of Jesus' return to Galilee in the power of the Spirit and coming to his home town of Nazareth, Jesus both read the Word of God and spoke to the people.Dr. Mitchell discusses Jesus' exposition of Isa.61:1-2. The application of this Word of God by Our Lord, through this method, later exposes the unbelief of the hometown people and on the other hand, the faith of two Gentiles who lived outside of Israel. However, here Jesus announces that He Himself is at that very day and hour fulfilling this prophecy spoken and written by Isaiah. This prophecy revealed the ministry of the Messiah and Jesus is that Messiah. Dr. Mitchell shares that you and I can continue the ministry of our Lord today. Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Luke 4:14.

In Luke 4:1-13, we read and hear the words of Luke as his writes of the temptation of our Lord Jesus.Jesus is tempted by the devil on the same 3 grounds that Eve was tempted which are the same 3 grounds on which you and I can be tempted.Dr. Mitchell brings out how the Lord Jesus Christ repelled these temptations from the devil with the Word of God, specific Scriptures which dealt with the exact temptation at hand. How well do you and I know the Word of God to be able to respond to temptation with God's word? When you read and study the Word and place it in your heart, you have a weapon the Holy Spirit can use to help you in that hour of testing. Let's learn more, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, from Dr. Mitchell Luke 4:1.
In Luke 3:23-38, Luke presents the genealogy of our Lord Jesus from Mary all the way back in time to the first man, Adam, who also is called the Son of God. Adam was the son of God by creation, Jesus is the Son of God as eternal Deity. And here in the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is the God-man, virgin born son, eternal deity and sinless humanity in one undivided person. That Jesus was a real man, Luke gives, in writing to Theophilus, His genealogy tracing his family lineage from Mary all the way back to the beginning of time when God created the first man, Adam. Matthew's genealogy, on the other hand, begins with Abraham and comes forward thru time to Joseph to reveal Jesus as the virgin born son of Mary. As a man, Jesus was to be tested. Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Luke 3:23.

Luke continues in writing to this most excellent Theophilus by recording the baptism of Jesus by John the baptist in the Jordan river. We are in Luke 3:21-22.Jesus was praying. While He was praying, God the Holy Spirit descended upon Him and God the Father spoke to Him. He was commending Jesus as His Son, and saying, "In you I am well pleased."Here is a revelation of the Triune God. Here is the One true God revealed in three persons. Jesus the Son of God, the Holy Spirit of God and God the Father Himself. The tri-unity of God is revealed here in Scripture.Jesus is God's real man on earth being the beloved Son of the Father, the God-Man, sinless and perfect.Let's turn to Luke 3:21 with Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Produced by Joseph Cottrell, Wayne Hall, Ken Fuller and Jeffrey Crecelius Mark and I are looking forward to talking about the new Yes album, Aurora, next week but this time, we have gone right back to the first ever Yes compilation album, Yesterdays, because we mentioned the first song on the record a couple of weeks ago, in the context of The New Age of Atlantic album. We enjoyed listening to the 1975 release again, particularly the first and last songs. There is a bit of audio geekery and lots of enthusing about this great collection from us both. Please do let us know what you think of Yesterdays and what's in your deadwax, of course. Why was this album released when it was? Are there any undiscovered songs on here? Who is actually on the record? Please do add comments below. Barry Plummer 2026 Calendar is still available! In this lesson, we will be hearing of the ministry of John the baptist, Luke 3:1-20. Luke is careful to fully document the time frame in which John appeared in the wilderness as found in Luke 3:1-2. In the next 3 verses, we hear his message, where he preached, and what he preached. Luke writes that John fulfilled the specific prophecy of Isaiah 40:3-5. John gave the people warnings and exhortations. It is most notable that John gives a personal testimony concerning the Lord Jesus in verses 16-17. Here he exalts the preeminence of the savior and His coming work of separating the true Jewish believers in Christ from out of the nation of Israel at a future time. Let's turn to Luke 3 with our teacher, Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

The giants of progressive rock never truly disappeared… their influence evolved. Join me this week for a journey through the musical bloodlines of Yes, Genesis, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and King Crimson — explored through the music of modern bands who carry the spirit of those Architects forward while forging identities of their own.
Jesus, in submission to his parents, lived life growing in wisdom and strength and the grace of God was upon Him.Then Luke gives us a record of Jesus as a child of 12 going to Jerusalem for the passover. And instead of returning home to Nazareth, He stayed in Jerusalem ministering His Father's business in the temple. Jesus astounded the religious leaders with His questions and answers. But Mary and Joseph were distressed, thinking He was lost in the city, they found Him in temple. Jesus was the center of attention from both his parents and the religious leaders.Jesus should be the focus of our attention, affection and faith. Here is Dr. Mitchell, Luke 2:39, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.
Geoff Downes has quite the musical CV. Shooting to fame with The Buggles, then joining Yes alongside Trevor Horn for their 1980 “Drama” album, he then had massive success alongside Yes member Steve Howe with the supergroup Asia. He rejoined Yes in 2011 where he remains to this day. Geoff joined me from his home in Wales for a career-spanning conversation discussing songs by The Buggles, Asia, and the epic Countermovement from the new Yes album “Aurora”. Please forgive the sound quality on this interview. It's perfectly listenable but not optimal. Find me on Instagram @sendingsignalspodcast

POSAVANT is an alternaprog band built by music producers/multi-instrumentalists and brothers Nick and sirK. Formed in 2024, the band's identity is rooted in a desire to reinvigorate rock in the modern world, bringing controversy back into a genre that has long lost its personality. The band has a steadfast motto of making "Real" music, uncontaminated by the digital altering and plastic nature of modern rock. Creating all of their music and videos on their own, the band are the sole creative force behind Gen Z's most groundbreaking band.More info:Website: www.posavant.comYouTube: www.youtube.com/@posavantInstagram: www.instagram.com/posavant_/Facebook: (8) FacebookTikTok: www.tiktok.com/@posavant_Spotify: Posavant | SpotifyApple Music: Posavant - Apple MusicBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
In this study, we now meet a man by the name of Simeon who was promised by God that he would not die until he had seen the Lord's Messiah, that is, Jesus as a baby. The Holy Spirit was upon him. This man also blessed God with a song. His song revealed that this child, Jesus, the Lord's Messiah, would be a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for the glory of God's people Israel. Our Lord is the focus of his song. Does your song focus on and feature the Lord Jesus preeminently? It blesses God who is our audience. Not only Simeon but also Anna, a widow, came into the temple and giving thanks to God, began speaking to all those around her about this Jesus.Let's turn to Lk.2:25 with Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Our study in the Gospel of Luke continues in chapter 2 starting in verse 11 with the shepherd's visit to the place where Jesus was born. As we have heard, they were divinely directed there by the angel who announced to them the birth of the Savior and how to identify him. They didn't waste any time in traveling into Bethlehem to see this baby and they found Him lying in a manger, just as the angel had told them. God's word is always true. This visit caused Mary to treasure up and ponder all these things in her heart. Luke also goes on to write about Jesus' presentation in the temple where He is formally called by the name “Jesus” which the angel previously told both Mary and Joseph. With Jesus' birth on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast here is Dr. Mitchell, Luke 2:11-25.

Produced by Joseph Cottrell, Wayne Hall, Ken Fuller and Jeffrey Crecelius This week we welcomed bass maestro Miguel Falcão back onto the YMP, this time to talk about the bass that appears in Barry Plummer's photo set from Redan Recorders in February 1980. Chris shows off his new instrument to the camera so we have a great insight into his feelings, shortly after he received his customised Electra MPC bass. He seems rather pleased with it, as you can see in the photos I have included, appropriately watermarked, in the show notes for this week.I kick off the conversation by explaining what Yes were doing in Redan Recorders and why Barry Plummer's visit was fortuitous, at least for those of us interested in the history of the world's greatest progressive rock band.Miguel then takes us through all the details of the Electra bass, delving deeply into the weeds in the way we enjoy very much on the YMP. What was special about this bass guitar? Where and how did Chris use it? What happened to the instrument in the end? Please do add any other details you know about this remarkable bass in the comments below. Produced by Joseph Cottrell, Wayne Hall, Ken Fuller and Jeffrey Crecelius This week, Mark and I had a very interesting chat about collecting Yes music - different pressings, different versions, different formats. I had come up with several categories of Yes collectors and here they are: Musical completist Artist/Band Supporter Band historian Audiophile History fanatic Tactile fanatic Emotional collector So which category do you think you fit into - or perhaps you consider yourself in several, all or none. Please do let us know in the show notes for this week. This topic came up because I have just received several new (to me) Yes and Yes-related items.
