When Carol investigates one of them at the same time that Monica Rambeau investigates another, the two somehow get tangled up with a kid named Kamala Khan (but we can call her Ms. Marvel), who happens to possess the other Quantum Band. Whenever any of the three uses their powers at the same time, they switch places. Naturally, this makes fighting bad guys considerably more complicated.After a chaotic encounter destroys Kamala's house, the three eventually figure out what's happening and team up. Kamala is PUMPED gives their new trio a very on-the-nose name: the Marvels.The Marvels discover that Dar-Benn is tearing open jump points to steal resources from other planets and is putting the universe in serious danger in the process. And because Dar-Benn blames Carol for everything, she's targeting planets that are important to Carol.The Marvels attempt to stop her and Dar-Benn is destroyed when trying to use the bands but the resulting energy creates a tear between realities. Kamala and Carol use their combined powers to help Monica close the tear, but Monica ends up stranded on the other side.Back on Earth, Kamala's brief experience working with Carol and Monica inspires her to start looking for other young heroes, beginning with Kate Bishop. Meanwhile, Carol heads to Hala and uses her powers to restore the planet's sun.And Monica? Well, she's now hanging out in another universe where she meets an alternate version of her mother and a very familiar blue-furred mutant scientist. “MK Confidential” finds a fugitive at work, balancing books at an accounting firm in Richmond, Virginia. It's Thursday, June 9, 1989, around midday. Three federal men in suits approach the receptionist's desk and ask to speak with Bob Clark. They search the compliant accountant and ask plainly, “Are you John List?” The man denies it, but his fingerprints say otherwise. “MK Confidential” opens with the words of a killer. John List narrates the morning of Tuesday, November 9, 1971, the day his carefully laid plans to kill each member of his family will become reality. By the end of it, his mother, wife, and three children will all lie dead on the floor of Breeze Knoll. Megyn Kelly steps through the day, piece by piece, as John bookends his day with murder — his wife and mother before breakfast, his children after lunch — and runs through a list of ordinary errands befitting a man about to leave town. Tonight's “MK Confidential” begins at the police station in Westfield, New Jersey, in the wee hours of the morning. It is the summer of 1971, and officers have brought in two teenage girls for smoking cigarettes. Both girls' fathers arrive to claim them; one looks like he came straight from bed, and the other sports a coat and tie. John List has come to pick up his daughter, Patricia. He is furious, afraid that she is slipping away from the life and the faith he wants for her. He doesn't tell her to “Go to Hell,” but that she is already going there on her own. Megyn Kelly traces the story of John List back to its beginning, in a cold, small Michigan town off of Lake Huron. From his German Lutheran upbringing to service in the Army to accounting degrees in Ann Arbor, List becomes the forgettable face atop the ever-present coat and tie. He meets and marries Helen and sets out to build the life he thinks he should have, and fails. "MK Confidential" opens on December 7th, 1971, as a car turns up a dark driveway in Westfield, New Jersey. A drama teacher named Ed Illiano leaves his headlights pointed at a nineteen-room Victorian mansion called Breeze Knoll. One of his students has shared a secret he cannot shake. Days before she vanished, sixteen-year-old Patricia List said her father was going to kill her and her two brothers. She said it the way a person reports a fact. Perhaps one of the most surreal (and tragic) parts of 1997 was the time a bunch of children in a band called Hanson went viral with a song called MMMBop while a lesser known, criminally underrated, and FAR SUPERIOR band (with an extremely similar sounding name, consisting of former members of Helmet & Quicksand) called Handsome released their one (and only) album, Handsome, earlier that same year. Returning guest Michael joins us for a man on the run for being wrongfully accused of killing his wife but it was a robot-armed and legged and torso'd man who did it in the TV movie Annihilator.
Unlimited Leaguers we have two exciting episodes with small team-ups this week. Like Green Arrow, hold on tight because we are going to Tartarus and back. "The Balance" has the Greek gods sending Wonder Woman on a mission to save Hades from Felix Faust. Faust has tricked Tala and inhabited the Annihilator. He went to Tartarus to seek revenge on Hades. After chaining Hades up, he spends his time in the library learning all the dark magic from the books. Wonder Woman knows her weapons will not work. She tries to take Hawkgirl's mace. But ends up enlisting Hawkgirl to help. Before entering Tartarus, Diana's mother fully activates Wonder Woman's armor and lasso. The 2 ladies make their way to Faust. They are whisked away by his magic. They free Hades and the three of them take down Faust. "Double Date" has the Huntress trying to take out Steven Mandragora. He was the man who killed her parents when she was young, as she watched from the closet. But Manhunter had set it up as a test and she failed. He kicks her out of the League. Before she goes, she offers to help The Question if he helps her. He knows she can't help him, but he likes her and wants to help. They track down Mandragora. He is in protective custody of the feds along with Green Arrow and Canary. Mandragora tricks the Arrow and Canary to try and hurt him and get thrown out. The feds are then taken down by Mandragora's thugs. He escapes to the docks. Question and Huntress head there but they are being followed by Arrow and Canary. At the docks, Mandragora is waiting for a ship. It holds his son, who was kidnapped and then rescued. Steven and his son were going to escape. He easily takes out Arrow and Question. Canary's cry shockingly barely phases him! Huntress gets the drop on him but can't kill him because of his son. In the end, she traps him until he can be taken away. The episode closes with Question and Huntress becoming a couple. The Justice League is up against Amanda Waller, her council of allies, and Taskforce X (a.k.a. The Suicide Squad) this week. Waller is a planner and wants to protect the world from the League by any means. Batman and the League must examine themselves and their crew carefully. "The Doomsday Sanction" has a confrontation between Batman and Waller that leaves them both shaken. She and her allies are creating means of stopping the League to prevent what happened with the Justice Lords. In this process, they created Doomsday. The Justice Lord's Superman lobotomized Doomsday. But he has regenerated and is set free by Dr. Milo. Doomsday interrupts the League's rescue mission and fights Superman. Batman stops the Kryptonite nuclear bomb and Superman traps Doomsday in lava. The League sends him to the Phantom Zone. Batman is still leery of what the League can do. "Taskforce X" is Waller's Suicide Squad. All the members except for Flag are criminals freed from death row. They are forced into five years of service with an explosive implanted in their heads. Flag, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, the Clock King, and Plastique are tasked with getting abord the Watchtower. Once there, they are to blow the reactor to cause confusion and steal the Annihilator. The Clock King's plan goes well, until the Taskforce reaches the bridge level. Shining Knight, Vigilante, and Atom Smasher put up a fight that slows them down. Martian Manhunter almost has them, until Plastique threatens an unconscious Atom Smasher with a bomb in his mouth. Captain Atom helps but the Taskforce, minus Plastique, escape. They deliver the Annihilator to Waller. Sam and Margaret Kastanis met while playing in a band and were married in 1987. When the children came along, they quit the band to focus on family. Margaret said that even after a decade of marriage, she still often had butterflies in her stomach when she looked at her husband. The couple had three beautiful children: Melissa, 11, Clinton, 9, and Christine, 6. The neighbors described the family as idyllic.Margaret became severely ill with the Epstein-Barr virus and had been out of commission for more than a month. Sam eventually had to take time off from work to stay home with her and the children because she had no energy to care for them.
