On this week's show, we wrap up the merry month of Debts-cember (and the year in general) with the most honorable of mentions, the runners-up that fill our cup, the best of the rest of 2025 All this & much, much less! Women to the left of me… Women to the right… They were 5 lads from Sheffield that riffed their way to the top and poured hot sugar all over the world. Their drummer lost his arm in a car accident. Comedian and friend Tristan Haze (@tristanhazeart) returns to Corks to rock out. We discuss Def Leppard's celebrated albums Pyromania (1983) and Hysteria (1987), the brash childlike feelings they evoke, the Led ghost at the feast, how the prevailing decades have shaped our ears, their stupid lyrics, song titles and use of exclamation marks. What does it take to return to the top of the ultra running world after major life changes and a "career-ending" surgery? Kaytlyn Gerbin knows. In this episode, Kaytlyn shares her journey from a scientist with a love for the outdoors to a world-class trail and ultra runner. Growing up active but without formal running experience, she discovered her talent in her mid-twenties and quickly fell in love with the 100-mile distance. Since then, she's set course records, tackled some of the most technical alpine trails in the Pacific Northwest, and stood on podiums at legendary races like UTMB, Western States 100, and Transgrancanaria. But Kaytlyn's story isn't just about running. It's about resilience, reinvention, and balance. After the birth of her daughter Era in 2024 and undergoing surgery to correct hip dysplasia—a procedure many thought would end her running career—Kaytlyn came back stronger than ever, winning the Cascade Crest 100 and taking on the epic 330km Tor des Geants race in Italy. In this episode, you'll hear about: How she discovered her running talent and found her passion for ultra distances Overcoming setbacks, starting over, and learning to meet herself where she is The mental strategies that help her tackle 100-mile races and multi-day alpine challenges Balancing motherhood with elite-level running Her plans and goals for 2026, including Hardrock 100 and UTMB Whether you're an aspiring ultra runner, a parent chasing big goals, or someone who loves stories of grit, perseverance, and adventure, Kaytlyn's story will inspire you to push your limits—on the trails and in life. Tune in to hear how Kaytlyn combines mountains, motherhood, and science-backed training to redefine what's possible, one long run at a time. *** New episodes of the Tough Girl Podcast drop every Tuesday at 7 AM (UK time)! On this episode of Bringin' it Backwards, Adam reconnects with viral sensation and rock artist Bailey Spinn. You might remember Bailey from TikTok, where she first blew up during her college days—but when she last joined the show, she hadn't even released her own music yet. Fast forward three years: Bailey's debut EP "My Worst Enemy" racked up millions of streams, her breakout single "Happy Ending" took off far beyond her expectations, and she's since dropped her powerful debut album "Loser." Adam and Bailey dig into how she transformed her social media following into a community of music supporters, the tough call to leave college for a shot at her creative dreams, and what it was really like navigating early success without a label. Bailey gets candid about the backlash and validation that came with going "all in" on music, finding her sound as she shifts from pop-punk to hard rock and metal, and the persistence it takes to carve out your own lane—even when it means being "annoying" online to get noticed. If you've ever doubted taking risks with your art or wondered what it's like to go from internet personality to serious recording artist, Bailey's story pulls back the curtain in her own honest words. Listen in to hear how she's building her sophomore album, collaborating with heavy hitters—and why showing up every day (and ignoring the haters) is key to making it. Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review Bringin' it Backwards so you never miss these inspiring stories straight from the artists themselves!
Vote on the Jeffrey Awards: https://forms.gle/zC29GEAgUJBKNn8T6I brought the cowboy hat out for this one, because Month of Jeff needed full giddy up vibes. Jeff “Bronco Billy” Browning is back, and we go everywhere: Cocodona's weird and wonderful rise into a spectator cult phenomenon, the tiny weather window that makes that race possible, and what it feels like when you are having one of those perfect days in a hundred.Jeff talks about his best races ever (including a scorching San Diego 100 and a 19:33 at Wasatch), and what actually made them click, training blocks, timing, and yes, a little luck. We also get nerdy and practical with an underrated, overrated, properly rated game, covering trail super shoes (carbon on trail, and why the foam matters more), heat training, speedwork for ultra runners (hello zone 3), and why you have to practice race nutrition in training if you want race day to feel automatic. Then we time travel to the early 2000s when ultra gear was basically a fishing vest era, handheld bottles ruled, poles were not a thing, and race nutrition was gels, S-caps, and hope. Jeff shares how mentorship and group long runs shaped the scene back then, and why adventure running and storytelling still matter more than a stat on a results page.We also get into the realities of long efforts and sleep deprivation, including why Jeff would choose self-supported if he goes long again (less complaining, more problem solving). And yes, there are animal stories, including some genuinely terrifying mountain lion encounters, plus the lightning strike moment at Hardrock that led to one of the most ultrarunning reasons ever to change your earrings. To close it out, Jeff breaks down how he made hundreds work while raising a family, with a simple framework: flexible training, non-negotiable family time, and getting creative with when long runs happen. We finish with what is next, some training races, Cocodona, a Western States swing, and the itch to do more adventure style projects.Sponsors: Janji, Garage Grown Gear, CS CoffeeChapters00:00 Introduction and Background05:48 Cocodona 250: Growth and Popularity08:38 Memorable Races and Personal Bests11:51 The Mental and Physical Toll of Long Distances14:44 Self-Supported vs. Supported Racing17:48 The Shift in Running Focus: Adventure vs. Competition20:55 The Importance of Storytelling in Running23:51 Training Insights: Speedwork and Nutrition28:29 Preparing for Race Day: The Importance of Training Camps30:00 Evolution of Gear: Trends from the Early 2000s33:09 Nutrition and Hydration: Lessons from the Past35:46 The Social Aspect of Ultra Running: Mentorship and Community39:43 From Hobby to Career: The Journey of an Ultra Runner42:36 Race Directing: The Challenges and Rewards45:42 Wildlife Encounters: Stories from the Trail55:18 Balancing Family Life and Ultra Running56:10 Balancing Work and Family Life59:00 Creating Quality Family Time01:02:58 Navigating Technology and Family Connections01:03:50 The Story Behind the Earrings01:10:13 Future Plans and Upcoming Races01:18:39 Introduction and Community Connection01:22:40 The Importance of Supportive Relationships01:26:49 Fostering a Positive CommunitySubscribe to Substack: http://freeoutside.substack.comSupport this content on patreon: HTTP://patreon.com/freeoutsideBuy my book "Free Outside" on Amazon: https://amzn.to/39LpoSFEmail me to buy a signed copy of my book, "Free Outside" at jeff@freeoutside.comWatch the movie about setting the record on the Colorado Trail: https://tubitv.com/movies/100019916/free-outsideWebsite: www.Freeoutside.comInstagram: thefreeoutsidefacebook: www.facebook.com/freeoutside

Static-X is not only of of the most iconic Nu Metal bands of all time, but they're one of my favorite heavy bands of all time. Their debut Wisconsin Death Trip is now regarded as a stone cold classic of Nu Metal and an album ahead of its time. Today, Static-X bassist Tony Campos sat down with me on Psychic Warfare to speak on some of the memories of the making and touring of that album that make him smile, whether the hand of fate guided Static-X's career trajectory, and the lost art of just following your feet. This Best of 2025 episode of Stairway to Eleven opens with a brief, somber acknowledgement of the passing of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, recognizing Reiner's lasting influence on film, comedy, and music culture. We touch on Spinal Tap: The End Continues as a final chapter in a legacy that still looms large, then shift gears and get down to business. From there, George, John, and TR count down their Top 10 Albums of 2025, breaking down the records that stood out, surprised us, and earned repeat listens in a year packed with strong releases.
Episode #294: The boys start the show off with Rock & Metal Trivia Questions with "Rapid Fire" and then transition into "Intellectual Poetry" (Guess the song only by the lyrics), and the finish up the show with a "TRACK BY TRACK BATTLE" featuring the 1980 album "Progressions of Power" by TRIUMPH vs. 1979's "Harder ... Faster" by April Wine. These two bands are touring together in 2026, so we put together this battle between two Canadian Hard Rock bands. Don't miss this tour, because it might be the last time hearing these songs live. Check out our Spotify Playlists listed under "Hard Rocking Trivia Show" and follow us on X and instagram.
They are one of the greatest bands of all time that have been surrounded by mystique and wonder. Led Zeppelin were the dominant band of the late 1960's and ruled over the 1970s. The band leaves a short but powerful legacy with their sound, their image and it's been a blueprint for other bands to copy and follow. She unpacks her experience on the Hardrock 100 course during “Soft Rock,” discusses the emotional chaos of crewing Barkley, and opens up about the vulnerable, sometimes risky conversations she and co-host John Eisen tackle on their podcast, Running with Problems.Miranda's LinksIG - @peaksandjusticeRunning with Problems Podcast In This Episode:Miranda's first trail race with zero prep or gearHer back-to-back finishes at San Juan SolsticeAccidentally negative-splitting her first 100-miler (High Lonesome!)Crewing her husband Jon at Barkley Starting Running with Problems and making space for real talkBuilding a community of women that love to do hard things Relevant Links:San Juan Solstice 50Soft Rock (Hardrock Route)High Lonesome 100Dark Divide 100milerBarkley MarathonsPartner Links: Janji - Janji.comA big shoutout to our sponsor, Janji! This week, a continuation of our series called “In The Shadow Of…”, where we compare obscure bands to a mainstream act. This is not about copycats, but more about artists with similar vibes, a shared sonic landscape, or whose songwriting and playing styles are sympatico. This is another band that is near and dear to both of your humble hosts. A band that is synonymous with the word “Rock n' Roll”. A band of outlaws, rebels, and riffage; the iconic MOTÖRHEAD! Join us as we discover other bands that were influenced and inspired by England's loudest band. What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This is not a statement about bands trying to copy one another, but more that they have a shared sound and vision. It's been said that there is no originality left in rock n' roll and also been stated that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. As always, we hope we turn you onto something new!Songs this week include:City Kings – “Cherry” from Steel Rock N Roll (2023)Asomvel – “Louder And Louder” from Born To Rock ‘n' Roll(2024)Newsted – “Soldierhead” from Metal - EP (2013)Gunslinger – “Smoke Wagon” from Amped Up (2025)Whitespade – “Below The Law” from Whitespade (2022)Girlschool – “Bomber” from St. Valentine's Day Massacre - EP (1981)Chrome Division – “Booze, Broads, & Beelzebub” from Booze, Broads, & Beelzebub(2008)Brass Against – “Ace Of Spades” from Ace Of Spades - Single(2025)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it: InObscuria StoreCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/
Send us a textShock Rockers Dangerous Toys Are Rattling Your Cage As Demolition Grows Closer#shockrock #newmusic #newalbum #dangeroustoys #hardrock #heavymetal Southern sleaze-metal veterans Dangerous Toys might not have released a new album in 30 years (although they promise there's one on its way), but that hasn't stopped them from establishing themselves among the most ferocious live bands on the circuit right now, while an avid following remains as rabid as ever. Time, then, to break the silence with Demolition, a brain melting compilation of 10 tracks, all previously unreleased and recorded during the hiatus between the band's second and third albums, 1991's Hellacious Acres and 1994's Pissed - arguably, the peak of the original band's activities. It wasn't easy selecting the contents. The band had some 70 new songs to choose from as they pieced together Pissed, almost everyone banged down on tape within days of the original idea being brought into the jam rom.
