The Columbia Metro Connection is sponsored and supported by the Columbia Metro Baptist Association and the almost 100 family churches that support the ministry of the CMBA.  This week, we have a special sponsor in Bill Roop from Upstate Digital Sign Sales. Hosts for this week’s episode are George Bullard, the Director of Missions, Strategic Leadership Coach and Lead Missiologist at Columbia Metro Baptist Association.  I’m Chris Reinolds, Certified Church Consultant & Lead Pastor a Killian Baptist Church. This week's podcast is special because we get to listen in on a panel discussion on various approaches to church planting in a metropolitan area.  From the inner city to the middle of nowhere to everything in between there are multiple models on planting a church.  This panel covers what they did and the one essential component for reaching any community.  The panel is made up of Ant Frederick from Midtown-Two Noth, Brian Thomas from NorthStar Christian Center, Greg Dowey from FRESH Church, and Erik Estep from Village Church. We hope their story helps encourage you as you consider the ways God would have you to continue spreading the gospel in your context.
The Gist of Freedom Preserving American History through Black Literature . . .
On Christmas Eve 1855, Barnaby Grigsby and his wife Mary Elizabeth, took the slaver's best team of horses and his carriage, packed it with knives and guns, and fled slavery. Grigsby and Elizabeth were married. William Still was the Black abolitionist from Philadelphia who was described by the New York Times as "The Father of the Underground Railroad". He commissioned Harriet Tubman's rescue missions. This famous abolitionist literally wrote the Underground Railroad book. The book which explained the story, narratives often in the words of the participants in the effort to escape slavery. Click to Listen To The Gist of Freedom is pleased to present to you "The Bold Strike For Freedom" an excerpt from William Still's Book, The Underground Railroad with guest Erik Estep!
