Mit "Some Great Reward" haben Depeche Mode es 1984 zum ersten Mal in die Top drei der deutschen Albumcharts geschafft. Auch ihr erster Nummer-1-Hit "People Are People" ist darauf. __________ Über diese Songs vom Album "Some Great Reward" wird im Podcast gesprochen (15:39) – "Lie To Me"(21:10) – "People Are People"(43:45) – "Somebody"(52:43) – "Blasphemous Rumors"(01:02:14) – "Master And Servant" __________ Alle Shownotes und weiterführenden Links zur Folge "Some Great Reward" findet ihr hier: https://www.swr.de/swr1/rp/meilensteine/swr1-meilensteine-depeche-mode-some-great-reward-100.html __________ Ihr wollt mehr Podcasts wie diesen? This week the docs dive into the murky pool of "Body Language Experts" to discuss the explosion of self proclaimed subject matter experts on a field that lacks empirical evidence. The success of the 2009 American television series "Lie To Me" brought widespread attention to the dubious field of deception detection through body language, facial expressions, and micro-expressions, encouraging many people with both legitimate science, law enforcement and military backgrounds to present as experts:  Since 2009, the world has seen an explosion of body language experts writing books, charging exorbitant fees for speaking engagements and popping up as talking heads on info-tainment shows that have a nexus with true crime. But, is it a thing? Like a REAL thing? Show notes:

Episode 3 of Season 6 launched promptly at 19h00 on Rebel Rock Radio and then crashed back to earth like a failed rocket launch.  It was restarted and got back on the air at 19h17.  The joys of internet radio.  This was the first episode going out on fibre.  While podcast people have not been affected, listeners to the live show have had a really rough ride of late thanks to load shedding in South Africa.  Since late 2022 it has either been my cell towers collapsing (Telcom) or if mine are up then the guys trying to listen have no power.  It is, as they say, a shit show.   When we did get going we started with Aerosmith and 'Young Lust' of the hugely successful Pump album. From there we had Ratt and then Sixx A.M., with 'Lies of the Beautiful People'.  There were two tracks with a Metallica theme running through, W.A.S.P. with 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' and then Volbeat with an excellent cover of ‘Don't Tread on Me' to keep the show Rambling On.  Speaking of which I used Led Zepellin with ‘Ramble On' and Judas Priest with ‘Better By You Better Than Me' to talk a bit about the development of modern Metal. On the local scene, we checked out more of Infanteria's phenomenal album Patriarch and a track called ‘Repent Through the Orders You Seek'.  It was a pleasure to play the brand new track by South African Metal heavyweights Deadline.  The track is called 'Cult of Prometheus, it has just been released, Dave Devo Oosthuizen who works tirelessly to promote SA music, sent it to me and it is a pleasure to give it some airtime.  We had classics from ACDC, and Motörhead, plenty from the ladies, Laura Cox, Samantha Fish, Doll Skin, and L7.  This weeks Songs that may be about South Africa included 'The Ditch' (Dave Hause), 'Don't Lie To Me' (Dokken), High 'n' Dry (Def Leppard), 'Sucker Born' (Samantha Fish) and 'Take Back Your Life' from Disturbed.   This week The Immortals, i.e. classic metal tracks that are over 7 min long and will last forever, came courtesy of Deep Purple with ‘Child in Time'.  Following on was hard and I delegated the job to Tool and their amazing track about two additional chromones ‘Forty-Six and 2'.  A highlight of the show was a track sent to me called ‘Goodbye To The World and The Whole Damn Thing' by a band called deadfilmstar.  I really enjoyed it, it has such an evil feel to it.  It is Mansonesque but very fresh, check it out.   Wrapping up we had UK Punky stuff from The Police, the Jam, and then for good measure, we had Böhse Onkels and a track called 'Saufen ist wie Weinen' which means drinking is like crying.  It is the best Böhse Onkels track I have ever heard, love that little bluesy intro.  The new Bush album The Art of Survival gave us a track called ‘More Than Machines'.  Metalheads can go to the last 10 minutes of the show for Obituary and In Flames, Nu Metal fans can go twenty minutes before the end and catch Birthday Boy Kid Rock and a track off Rock ‘n' Roll Jesus and Limp Bizkit with the amazing Wes Borland on guitar doing a track called Rollin', thanks as always for tuning in guys, much appreciated, Adios Amoeba's catch you next week.    Artists featured:  Aerosmith, Ratt, Sixx AM, Thin Lizzy, Y&T, The Quireboys, Def Leppard, W.A.S.P., Volbeat, Sword, Infanteria, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Drowning Pool, Disturbed, Laura Cox, Samantha Fish, Doll Skin, L7, Dave Hause, Slash (feat Chris Cornell), Motörhead, ACDC, Dokken, Manowar, Deadfilmstar, Deadline, Deep Purple, Tool, The Dead Daisies, The Police, The Jam, Böhse Onkels, Bush, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Obituary, In Flames, David Lee Roth The Story of Rock and Roll. Social audio has gained some attention in recent years, with platforms like Clubhouse and new offerings from the likes of Twitter and Spotify. But what is Social Audio - and can it provide new opportunities for the creator economy? Today we're speaking with Ryan Star, CEO and founder of Stationhead, a social audio app that enables anyone to start their own social, global radio program. Ryan is a recording artist that got his big break playing at CBGBs in New York and then opening for Bon Jovi when he was still in high school. He's also been ranked fifteenth among the most influential psychologists of the 21st century. Some of the things he talks about today are why people lie, the biggest myths we believe about detecting lies, and how you can actually tell if someone is being deceptive.

Cue EGOT Winner Marvin Hamlisch plunking away slowly in C Major at a piano, even though Babs wanted the song in a minor key. Nobody puts Hamlisch in a minor third.) "Memories... light the corners of my mind. Misty, watercolor memories... of the way... we were..." No, we're not talking to Barbra this week. Sorry to disappoint. But, now that you've already been floored by the lack of Streisand, have "No More Tears" and rejoice in the meaning behind the weird symbolism attempted above - we have to admit we're "Guilty" as we've got a clip show this week, you lucky "People." (How many Streisand songs can we reference here? You don't want to take the under on that bet, friendo.) This week, we "Send in the Clowns," our boys Sid and Keith, as we do a deep dive back to Episodes 6 through 10 and grab the best gobbets of wisdom from them because ... let's be real, the helpful hints found therein are "Evergreen." Our boys begin with looking back at their chat in Episode 6 with Justin Koen on how best to get buy-in from your employees. Given the Era of Economic Uncertainty we currently find ourselves in, that could be wonderful wisdom to have if you don't want your current, great employees to just be a "Memory." Episode 7, our boys wax poetic and ask themselves "What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life," dropping knowledge bombs about how to create the life you want. Since we're #TeamNo Spoilers, you'll have to actually listen to get these fun facts or you'll be "Left in the Dark." Episode 8, it's our old friend Mike Michalowicz and the Pumpkin Plan, where you go from "Just Leave Everything to Me" mode and learn how to take a business from the launch phase to soaring way up there in "A Piece of Sky." Don't get caught in the cycle of "Sell It, Do It, Sell It, Do It" (That's not a Streisand song - just a quote from the episode. Bet it would be a bop, though) - listen and learn how to make your business "The Best Thing You've Ever Done." Episode 9, we get to talk to a mentor of Sid's, Steve Bousquet, and gab about how "Being Good Isn't Good Enough" - you have to be open, honest and real with your employees or you'll be watching them go, quietly saying to yourself "I Won't Last a Day Without You." And, finally, Episode 10 - Are you still with us? "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" (You knew Yentl was coming) ... it's "The Second Time Around" for more awesome approaches for actualizing employee buy-in. Again, no more clues here, but trust us when we say the tips and tricks we've got here ain't no "Second Hand Rose." We know some of you may not love a clip show, but we say "Don't Rain On My Parade" because "Happy Days Are Here Again." So, "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" and enjoy this week's entertaining episode. (20, for those of you who don't want to count them up. But, "Don't Lie To Me," was it a bit much? ... 21.) (Not totally word for word) Jenny: Hi there: I'm your host Jenny Wheeler, and today Carrie Stuart Parks is talking about writing inspirational suspense. But before we hear from Carrie, just a reminder that the show notes for this BingeReading episode are available at the website, thejoysofbingereading.com That's where you'll find links to Carrie's website and books, as well as a free E book, and information on how to subscribe to our podcast so you don't miss future episodes. And now here's Carrie. Hello there Carrie, and welcome to the show. It's great to have you with us. Carrie: Thank you Jenny and I am absolutely thrilled to be here. Carrie Stuart Parks - thriller author Jenny:  You obviously are a very talented artist - you give forensic art workshops and you have written several how to paint and draw instruction books - so what was the “Once Upon A Time” moment or process that led you to express yourself through writing rather than through pencil and paint? Carrie: The original writing I did was for 'How To Books.' I decided I really needed to put down what I taught my students in a book rather than explain it over and over again. So I ended up doing five books with my husband Rick on how to draw and how to watercolour paint. And I thought that all I could do was write non fiction  - "here's how to sharpen your pencil." Eventually I moved over to writing novels, but it wasn't until I'd been writing non fiction books for a number of years that I ended up in this place. Jenny:  Yes and it's a very different process writing novels to writing fiction. Was there something that led you to make that jump? Carrie:  Yes, and it's a strange story!  I have a girl friend who has absolutely everything and every year I spend hours looking for the perfect Christmas gift for her. Well this one year I just couldn't find anything. So I thought maybe I'll just  write a little short story about people who go on this adventure. So I wrote this story about two gals who go on this adventure. A murder mystery kind of a thing.  And I gave it to her for Christmas.  And she'd be reading it in bed and laughing out loud and her husband said "What are you reading?" And she said "well there's this really funny short story" and she read it out loud to him.  He rang me up the next day and he said "I want to come over to your house" and I said "OK" and he came over and said "I think you have writing talent. I think you can write fiction and I am happy to teach you how to do it better." Well the gal I gave it to was Barbara Peretti, and the guy who came over was Frank Peretti (famous as the author of The Present Danger and Piercing the Darkness - editor note)  So for the next eight years the 'Dean of Christian Writing' was my personal mentor. Writing mentor Frank Peretti and Carrie Stuart Parks Jenny: Gwen is similar to you in many ways - for a start she is a forensic artist - and in other ways of course she is very different...   Tell us about those similarities and differences.
