Most of us want a life that matters, but we settle for comfort and end up living in the shallow end. Let's talk about what happens when you encounter God and stop benching yourself from the life he created you to live.
Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/enduretotheendpod/Zunex Pest Control: https://www.instagram.com/zunexpestco/In this episode of Endure to the End, we talk about something deeply personal and incredibly common: people pleasing. For a long time, people pleasing felt sincere. It felt kind. It felt loving. But over time, we've learned that constantly over-explaining, overextending, and trying to control how others perceive us is not Christlike and it's not peaceful. We talk about how easy it is to give away your power by managing other people's emotions, controlling narratives, and fearing being misunderstood. But when we look at the Savior's life, we don't see someone who chased approval. We see someone calm, restrained, honest, and rooted in His relationship with the Father.Ultimately, this episode is about anchoring your identity in Christ rather than in how well you are perceived. When we know God understands our heart, we don't have to beg to be understood by everyone else.People may misunderstand you. You may lose relationships. Day 7 — Mark 4:1–20 Same seed. Different soil. Different results. In Day 7 of 40 Days in Mark, Jesus tells the Parable of the Sower—and it becomes a mirror for our hearts. Hardened. Shallow. Distracted. Or open and ready. The Word hasn't lost its power. The question is: what kind of soil are you today? One chapter. One day. One step with Jesus.
In this episode of the Christian Bible Study Ministry podcast we examine Luke 8:5–8 and Jesus' parable of the sower, focusing on the rocky soil that sprouts quickly but withers for lack of moisture. The host explains that the rocky soil represents an outward, emotional response to the gospel without true regeneration by the Holy Spirit, contrasts shallow faith with saving faith, and explains the symbolism of “living water” as the Spirit who indwells believers. The episode closes with a call to honest self-examination, a reminder that trials reveal genuine faith, and encouragement that God still offers salvation to those who seek Him.

SEXAGESIMA Isaiah 55:10–13 2 Corinthians 11:19—12:9 or Hebrews 4:9–13 Luke 8:4–15 Scripture Alone The Sower sows the seed of His Word (Luke 8:4–15). This Word is living and powerful (Heb. 4:9–13) to conceive new life in those who hear it. But the planting of Christ is attacked by the devil, the world, and the flesh. Satan snatches the Word away from hard hearts. The riches and pleasures of this life choke off faith. Shallow and emotional belief withers in time of temptation and trouble. But see how Christ bears this attack for us! Christ's cross was planted in the hard and rocky soil of Golgotha. A crown of thorns was placed upon His head. Satan and His demons hellishly hounded and devoured Him. Yet, through His dying and rising again, He destroyed these enemies of ours. Jesus is Himself the Seed which fell to the ground and died in order that it might sprout forth to new life and produce much grain. In Him, the weak are strong (2 Cor. 11:19–12:9). He is the Word of the Father which does not return void (Is. 55:10–13) but yields a harvest hundredfold.

How did Christianity become this casual? How did a faith that once required surrender turn into something that rarely disrupts us? In this episode, Jon Ellis traces the subtle shift that took place in modern American Christianity; a shift from discipleship to decisions, from formation to momentary response, from surrender to convenience. This isn’t an attack on evangelism. It’s not criticism of church growth. It’s a call back to biblical discipleship. Jesus never hid the cost. He clarified it. When the cost of following Him isn’t explained clearly, faith feels confusing. Shallow roots develop. Comfort becomes assumed. And casual Christianity slowly becomes normal. In this episode, Jon explores: • How altar-call culture unintentionally shifted the focus from discipleship to decision • Why unexplained cost creates fragile faith • How cultural Christianity replaces covenant obedience • What Jesus actually meant when He said, “Count the cost” • And how to return to true, Spirit-led discipleship If your faith has felt heavier lately, this may not mean something is wrong. It may mean you’re finally encountering the part of discipleship that trains you. Depth is still available. Uncommon faith is still possible. And surrender is still the way forward. How did Christianity become this casual? In this episode of The Uncommon Christian Podcast, Jon Ellis explores the subtle shift from discipleship to decisions, and why so many believers were taught how to start faith but not how to sustain it. Jesus never lowered the standard. If your faith feels heavier than expected, this episode will help you understand why, and how to return to true, Spirit-led discipleship.
This week, the show is joined by Parvati Shallow, two-time Survivor winner, current cast member on The Traitors, and author of Nice Girls Don’t Win: How I Burned it All Down to Claim My Power. Parvati shares about her childhood growing up in the Kashi Ashram, a high-control commune led by Joyce Green–or, as she made everyone call her, “Ma”. She discusses Joyce’s origin story and how she claimed to have experienced the stigmata, Joyce’s relationship with Ram Dass (who he later said he’d been bamboozled by her), and how she became increasingly coercive and controlling, including taking children from their parents and instructing members to scam their own families for money.Parvati reflects on how her parents escaped but ultimately came back to the group, what it was like living on the commune and being wild in nature, and how surviving that environment shaped her instincts, resilience, and ability to read people–skills that later helped her win Survivor, and how she’s now unpacking what it means to reclaim her power on her own terms. Thank you for joining us for Christian Faith Center's Sermon of the week. This message is from our Nampa Location. Pastor Jordan Hodges kicks off our new message series "CHURCHOLOGY"Fruit comes from connection. No shortcuts. Nothing comes without a planting. You didn't choose your first planting, you were born into it. Planted in darkness. Stunted. Sin. Brokenness. Shallow roots. No spiritual fruit. But God, He transplanted you. Pulled you out. Planted you in light. Deep. Thriving. Fruit-bearing.
Pastor Olubi Johnson calls the Body of Christ to a deeper, more intentional practice of thanksgiving as we transition from the mercies of 2025 into the anticipation of 2026. Gratitude, he teaches, is not a polite custom or end-of-year routine—it is spiritual infrastructure. Without a fortified heart of thanksgiving, believers will lack the capacity to carry the weight of the glory God is preparing to release. This message unveils thanksgiving as a spiritual substance—the “fruit of our lips”—that completes heaven's divine cycle of life: of Him, through Him, and to Him. When we give thanks, we return to God what He first placed within us, forming a living feedback loop that refreshes the Lord and sustains divine flow. Shallow gratitude, therefore, is not a worship problem but a thinking problem; deep thanksgiving is born from deep meditation. Through the story of the ten lepers, Pastor Olubi contrasts entitlement with true appreciation. While nine received healing and moved on casually, the Samaritan made the costly effort to return and give thanks—revealing that genuine gratitude recognizes mercy as undeserved favor, not entitlement. The message further emphasizes that thanksgiving must be three-dimensional: spiritual (words, praise, and praying in the Spirit), physical (expressive worship with the body), and financial (honoring God with substance and fulfilled vows). As the Church anticipates the Latter Rain and the Third-Day move of God, Pastor Olubi issues a sober warning: the coming glory is pure and swift. Pride, casualness, and spiritual arrogance will not survive it. Thanksgiving offered before manifestation—rooted in humility—is essential preparation. This message is an invitation to wisdom: to move from the drizzle of past preparation into the deluge of God's manifest power by learning to give thanks sufficiently—and well.

In this message from John 15, we explore what it means to build a life that endures. Jesus reminds us that lasting fruit never comes from effort alone, but from staying connected to the true source of life. Shallow faith may look healthy for a season, but only deep roots can withstand storms and produce fruit that lasts. This sermon unpacks the difference between being near Jesus and abiding in Him, the slow rhythms that form spiritual depth, and why pruning, though painful, is often God's way of preparing us for greater growth. Along the way, we're reminded that discipleship is intentional, community is essential, and the fruit God grows in our lives is meant to bless others, especially in our homes, and to glorify Him for generations to come.Deep roots are not built by accident, and lasting fruit doesn't grow overnight. When we remain in Christ, God does a steady, faithful work that endures long after we are gone.2.1.2026 - Message 3

While belonging has increased, the quality of belonging has declined. When meaning weakens, belonging looks for substitutes. The greatest gift we can give future generations isn't comfort, it's meaningful belonging with purpose. Think of a moment you have felt proud to be a "_____" (insert your family name) "When anchors weaken, substitutes take over." - Lee Brower Meaningful belonging requires anchors: faith, family, principles, and service to something larger than ourselves. When those anchors weaken, substitutes rush in—noise, pleasure, and distraction that promise connection but rarely deliver fulfillment. True belonging stretches us. It calls us to rise, to serve, and to strengthen one another across generations. When a person can't find a deep sense of meaning, they distract themselves with pleasure." - Viktor Frankl “When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing; they then become capable of believing in anything.” - G.K. You are the creator of the change that you do or don't make. Not society. Not your parents. Not your routine.You.There are people who've been weightlifting for 10 years and look like shit. Same with business, relationships, any field. The gap? Mechanical complacency versus being content. When you're mechanically complacent, you're just going through the motions—stale, gray, stagnant. A fish doesn't try to swim. Swimming IS the fish. When you're content, action happens naturally because you've changed your relationship to why you do what you do.Younger me lifted to get a girlfriend. Shallow drive. You never get peak decade-plus results from shallow motivation. Now I lift because it charges me vibrationally. Same action, different essence. Like expensive art—the replica can't capture the vibration of the original. Put the big rocks in the cup first, then the sand fills the cracks. Stretch the elastic band but don't snap it. Made For This – Deeper Encounters, Not Shallow Experiences What if spiritual gifts were never meant to elevate individuals—but to transform lives and build the church? In Part Three of Made For This, Pastor John Hill walks through 1 Corinthians 12 to help us understand the purpose, power, and proper use of spiritual gifts. Paul confronts a church that desired spiritual experiences without spiritual maturity—and calls believers to something better. This message challenges us to stop pursuing shallow moments and start pursuing deeper, Spirit-led encounters that lead to real transformation. #MadeForThis #SpiritualGifts #1Corinthians12 #HolySpirit #SpiritualGrowth - NEXT STEPS Looking to take your next step?
What starts as one of Chalene's life updates quickly turns into one of those conversations that just keeps going and gets way deeper than expected. The episode wanders through identity, aging, beauty, and purpose, and calls out the idea that wanting to feel good in your body is somehow shallow. It gets into neuroaesthetics in a very real, easy to understand way and why things like makeup, grooming, movement, and even your surroundings can seriously affect mood, stress, and mental clarity. Along the way, there are post holiday realizations, thoughts on generational differences around trauma and communication, aging and mobility, long term care realities, and the pressure so many women feel to always be doing more to prove they matter. It's casual, honest, occasionally funny, and feels like one of those conversations that sticks with you after it's over.

God's armor may not always feel comfortable, but it is necessary. It's not a buffet. It's irreducibly complex. Miss one piece and you're vulnerable—like an old VW bus with 12,000 parts and no brake fluid. One small omission can become a big disaster. We tend to trust our strengths too much. Blind spots are real. David, Peter, Abraham, Moses—giants with gaps. The armor is “of God.” That means the source and the standard are God, not me. I traced the cultural shift in authority: ancient (Scripture), modern (science), postmodern (self). We live in the age of “I feel,” where feelings often sit in the driver's seat. But Ephesians assumes an ancient posture: God speaks; Scripture is authority; I submit my emotions, not the other way around. With God's armor, we CAN withstand. Not easily, but truly (1 Corinthians 10:13; Romans 6). We celebrate forgiveness—and we should—but we should also celebrate that we are no longer slaves to sin. New covenant hearts want God. We get deceived when we trade deep joy for cheap thrills. Cheap is available. Deep takes patience and wisdom. Porn promises intensity and leaves people empty, ashamed, and alone. Shallow “community” at the bar gives the feeling of companionship without the truth that transforms us. Buying kids off with stuff substitutes for the hard and beautiful work of forming souls. When tempted, pause and ask, “What do I most want in ten years?” Pray. Phone a friend. Choose the long game. Then there's “the evil day.” Not Revelation horses. The personal season when the waves don't stop. Some in Scripture fell on their evil day; others stood—Joseph, Daniel, Shadrach/Meshach/Abednego, Paul, and Jesus. We come to the Table to be strengthened, so when that day comes, we can stand.
It's the most wonderful time of the year—when you're permitted (and strongly encouraged) to sip eggnog and pretend you forgot that embarrassing childhood performance of “Jingle Bells” on your parents' camcorder. But guess what? We didn't forget. And we're bringing you something just as classic and cringey—a rerun from three Christmases ago! Join us as we sleigh-ride back in time to an episode packed with questionable decisions and awkward outcomes, like what happens when you attempt to steal a trailer, but you're not too bright or why we should never fiddle about with the weather. It's our Christmas gift to you—and the best part? You can re-gift it guilt-free to your friends, family, or that random coworker who keeps forwarding you cat memes. So, don your ugly sweater, grab a candy cane (or something much stronger), and tune in for a holly-jolly re-gifted serving of The Shallow End. No matter how you celebrate, at least you'll have this greatest hit to amuse you while Uncle Gary attempts his 47th retelling of “The Night Before Christmas.” Merry Reruns! Shallowness and cruelty and stupidity may be rampant, but we must resist it—resist it without bitterness or despair—by being bright lights in a dark time.
