22. Why You Should Give Yourself Grace Around The Holidays

It's December, and for many of us that means  that there is a lot going on. Societal expectations of moms are high all year long, but around the holidays, these expectations take on a whole new meaning. As mothers, we can feel the pressure to create pure holiday magic for our children, and keep everyone happy by being three places at once in those important holiday moments. But here's the thing: Doing the holiday things has very little do to with our jobs as mothers, and no one can make anyone else happy. Plain and simple. So in this week's episode of The Worthy Mother Podcast, I am talking all about giving ourselves grace around the holidays - why it's so important and how we can start to do it. My hope is that you will walk away from this episode with a little more self-compassion, and a whole lot more understanding of how ridiculous it is that we equate decorating for Christmas with being a good mom. If you found this episode valuable, share it with other moms in your life! You can do that by sharing a screenshot of the episode to your Instagram stories and tagging the podcast. I am so excited to welcome Bri McKoy to the table. She calls herself an accidental home cook, turned food blogger, turned author. She loves to gather people around her everyday table. She is the author of Come and Eat: A Celebration of Love and Grace Around the Everyday Table which is an invitation to anyone who is searching for a deeper community and a desire to show more of Jesus’ love right from their very own dining room table.    I discovered Bri on Instagram through some mutual friends and she instantly became one of my favorite people. Her energy is contagious. She is so easily to chat with that I felt like we had been friends for years. We talk about what it looks like to create a new normal which she completely relates to as being a military wife. She also shares some tips on how to settle into a temporary space. She talks about what gave her the heart to create a longer table for people and in the process reveals some of her go-to recipes and kitchen tools. Prepare to be hungry by the end of this episode.   Connect with Sarah: Instagram // Website

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year. I love gathering around the table with my dearest people, sharing affirmations and bumping elbows as we reach for one more slice of pumpkin pie. This season I’m extra grateful because I have a grandson coming Thanksgiving week ~ oh JOY!!
