Without Your Head's Diablo Joe reviews "THE MEAN ONE" The holiday horror hit arrives on VOD, DVD, and Blu-Ray on October 3rd @DesktopEntertainment "DeskPop Entertainment is proud to be releasing Steven LaMorte's outrageous slasher parody, THE MEAN ONE, on VOD, DVD, and Blu-Ray next Tuesday, October 3rd! An indie smash that dominated last holiday season, the film racked up massive attention online, through the media, and via its wildly successful theatrical run exclusively at Regal Cinemas. In the audacious horror parody, The Mean One (David Howard Thornton) is a hairy, green-skinned grump in a Santa suit, living on a mountain high above the town of Newville, despising the holiday season. Young Cindy You-Know-Who (Krystle Martin), whose parents were butchered by The Mean One twenty Christmases earlier, is returning to town to seek closure... but when the Mean One launches a new reign of terror that threatens to destroy Christmas, Cindy finds a bold new purpose – trapping and killing the monster. In THE MEAN ONE, David Howard Thornton (TERRIFIER 2's Art the Clown) further cements his presence in horror history with this newly-iconic slasher villain. Holiday aficionados who think they know The Mean One are in for a very big surprise." On September 9th, 1953, Stan Laurel and Oliver ‘Babe' Hardy arrived on a boat direct from the USA into the small harbour town of Cobh, Ireland, ahead of another tour of the theatres of Great Britain. The boys assumed that they would quietly disembark unnoticed by the townspeople - but that couldn't be further from what happened. In this special bonus episode of the podcast, Patrick welcomes filmmakers Andy Hollingworth and Matt Holt to discuss the genesis and production of their new documentary, The Last Dance of the Cuckoos, which charts this remarkable and emotive true story. In addition, Patrick invites his guests to share their earliest memories of Laurel and Hardy and also makes them face the Atoll Question. Welcome back to the Independent Filmmaker's GuideThe navigation of film distribution can be one of the more difficult parts of the filmmaker's process. From understanding deal memos, aligning expectations, to simply getting something you've undoubtedly spent so much time and effort on in front of, and sometimes literally in the hands of, your intended audience. These are just some of the things covered in today's valuable and personal episode with guest Malcolm Ingram - an acclaimed and decorated filmmaker and documentarian, as well as an ambassador of the now resurgent desire for physical media. Leveraging all these things, Ingram felt a personal pull to, most recently, start his own distribution company with a focus on this physical media Mercantile Instinct. And his first release is the film CLERK (yes, a look at the man and the stories behind the hit CLERKS). CLERK will feature both Blu-Ray as well as VHS and Blu-Ray - with wide release on September 26th. This week we take a look at Fast X on 4K, The Wicker Man's 50th Anniversary 4K set, and Blood and Black Lace 4K, plus the latest TV shows, with Mark Dacascos entering Bruce Lee's Warrior Season 3, the return of Apple's Invasion, and an update on Star Wars - Ahsoka, whilst we review The Last Voyage of the Demeter, unceremoniously pulled from UK cinemas and likely to land on streaming at some time in the future instead, and take a look at some of the best (and worst) Dracula movies.
This might be the weirdest movie I have ever seen. If you are the President of Movies, please make us a fancy BluRay with multiple documentaries on the making of this movie. I will be forever grateful. Trying to describe it here will not do it justice. Watch this movie.
Aaron Adams & Jim Hill start off this week's show by discussing that McDonald's-from-1982 that just opened down in Brooklyn which is part of Disney's promotional efforts for Season 2 of “Loki.” They also talk about David Harbour's concerns when it comes to “Thunderbolts” & Season 5 of “Stranger Things” Learn more about your ad choices.
