Do you miss parts of who you used to be? In a short period of time Ryan Bridges became a mother, wife, and moved 15 hours away from everyone she new. She said, "I couldn't recognize the person I was becoming because I kept trying to hold onto the person I used to be." Through all of the transitioning, she realized she had to get out of this rut, otherwise, she wouldn't be able to show up for her children, husband, or herself. And now, she's on the other side of it all! No one talks about how painful it can feel to miss your past self. But this episode is a reminder that it's ok grieve the old you as you imperfectly transition into the phenomenal woman you're called to be. There is beauty in who you are becoming.  In this episode you'll learn about: giving yourself grace as you grow,  trusting God's process and timing for your life,  "I release" statements and the power of our words,  feeling like life revolves around your husband and children,  not recognizing your body during and after pregnancy,  releasing relationships that are no longer serving you,  recognizing your worth,  experience with breathwork,  fear of success, and  transitioning into motherhood and becoming a wife. At the end of the episode, we reframe her limiting belief "you can't mourn the old you" to fit more within Ryan's desired reality. Stay tuned until the end to shift your mindset. Connect With Us! A: Accountability is key to getting through the divorce process. C: Community is the only way to get through a divorce and having the right community around you will make all the difference. E: Ease up is another way of saying "be kind to yourself" as this process is hard enough without you beating yourself up throughout it.   ********************************************************************************************* The Grown Girl Divorce podcast is a space of relatability for Black women considering and going through a divorce. Have you ever been caught in the attorney's paradox, where success in the courtroom equals a life sentence of burnout? On this episode of Great Practice, Great Life, Victor Medina and Mark Metzger join Steve to dissect the relentless grind that traps so many in the legal profession and the power of a shift in perspective. They lay bare the tenets of personal happiness and professional success, weaving through stories of gratitude, the strength found in relationships, and the question of “why” that makes any “how” seem inconsequential. Navigating the legal labyrinth is about understanding the law and recognizing when to leverage and delegate to reclaim our personal lives. This episode is a reflective session where we confront the psychological fortresses safeguarding the status quo. We tackle the allure of financial success, the burnout it can bring, and how business savvy—like leveraging your team—can revolutionize both your practice and your life. Taking leaps of faith in the courtroom is one thing, but applying that same courage to life decisions is a different game. In this conversation, we face the fears and risks head-on, sharing personal anecdotes illustrating the bravery required for growth. The journey to a fulfilling life and career is riddled with tough decisions, especially when personal relationships weigh on professional contentment.  In this episode, you will hear: Uncovering how lawyers can break free from the cycle of burnout and redefine personal and professional success The importance of identifying a personal “why” to drive change and combat the grind of legal practice Lawyers' reluctance to delegate and leverage their teams and its consequences The role of fear in preventing lawyers from applying their knowledge and taking risks for growth The difference between contemplating a better future and taking action to achieve it Tough decisions and their impact on lawyers' personal lives The struggle with long hours at work versus confronting unhappy home relationships Creating space for growth and overcoming fear to unlock potential Follow and Review: We'd love for you to follow us if you haven't yet. Your Stories Don’t Define You, How You Tell Them Will

322 Give Yourself Grace   To give yourself grace for mistakes you've made or for expectations that seem unattainable is something that can be more daunting than many of us want to admit. As difficult as it can be to be gracious with ourselves in order for us to grow and thrive as human beings, it is vital that we do be patient with ourselves and own our mistakes or failed expectations so that we can grow. In this episode Sarah Elkins and Nikki Campbell discuss the importance of resilience, growth, and grace with ourselves because everything we do starts with us and if we aren't at our best we cannot give our best. Nikki Campbell brings warmth, understanding, and resilience to the discussion, telling many stories from her own life and how through her own strength and the love of those around her she was able to grow into who she is today.   Highlights We can't always explain why certain things in our past happen, but what we can do is use these things to give us the strength to follow our dreams. “You can either let it dissolve you or you can let it evolve you.” Our experiences are all relative. Parts of your story may not be so happy, but that doesn't make you who you are. It is how you reframe your thoughts and choose a sustainable way of life that determines the rest of your story. You're not living if you don't have gremlins, or a similarly named thing trying to stop you from achieving your goals.   Quotes “After sustaining any sort of type of trauma, whether it's; psychological, physical, whatever. There are things that you can have as a secondary characteristic, maybe it's some anxiety, maybe it's memories that trigger you, or things of that nature, and you can either let it dissolve you or you can let it evolve you.” “It's through her very gentle yet, I'll say firm, way of speaking my thoughts back to me. It wasn't until I had a therapist who did that did I realize; wow that's not true. It's the thought of like, if someone were to say to you what you say to yourself, what would your reaction be?” “I'm not going to apologize for how I am or who I am because it got me to where I am today.” “You need to have grace with yourself and know that you're not always going to do things right. It took me a long time to do that for myself is to give myself grace. That, “Okay I said that, I did that, I got to give myself a break but I also need to learn how to move forward. Instead of sitting in it.”.”   Dear Listeners it is now your turn, Were you sitting here in the living room with us and drinking some hot tea or coffee? When you think about the things you need to give yourself grace for? What are the gremlins you can shoo from your consciousness? Which are the gremlins that are really stopping you from moving forward? And how can you manage when you do do something wrong, manage that so that it doesn't occur again. What lessons can you learn from it? And who do you know that you contribute to, to their learning and their growth as a result of claiming your own? And, as always, thank you for listening.    About Nikki Nikki Campbell MS, NASM-CPT, BCS, CNC, ACSM-CIFT Nikki is a long-standing fitness and wellness professional with 15+ years of industry experience: She is a Certified Personal Trainer, Behavior Change Specialist, and Nutrition Coach through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and a Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. Do you ever say asshole things to yourself like: "I should've gotten more done today" "I'm never going to get this. I may as well quit" "When I... lose the weight/get a promotion/find a partner... THEN I'll feel good about myself" Sound familiar? You're not alone. Women are hard on themselves, especially my Gen X ladies who grew up in the 80's and 90's. If you're over 40, you've had alllll the unrealistic expectations put on you. And you beat yourself up every day for not living up to bullshit outdated rules. During our conversation, we get vulnerable and share our struggles with being hard on ourselves. Katie goes deep on what it really means to give yourself grace in your every day, messy-ass life. We're not talking about becoming a perfect, graceful human being, putting a band-aid over a bad day, or "letting yourself off the hook." Quite the opposite. Giving yourself grace may be the most important thing you do to lose weight faster and easier. And share this episode with the women in your life. I want to help release the pressure on women to be everything to everyone at all times. This perspective on grace has the potential to change their lives. The Bridge to Fulfillment

We spend a lot of our emotional energy trying to avoid pain and suffering.  But to experience the joy we want to feel, we have to understand that pain is an inevitable part of the human experience. The key to surviving that pain is simple… Find ways to give yourself more grace. Today on The Bridge to FulfillmentⓇ, Blake explains why the human experience requires moments of pain and suffering in order to grow and find joy in life. We're on a journey of self-acceptance and our pain is what ultimately helps us achieve self-love.  In this episode, you'll learn why we experience pain and suffering, and how to see those experiences in a new light. You'll understand how grace helps you accept and work through tough moments in life, and how those experiences accelerate growth. You'll discover what it truly means to offer grace to yourself and others, and how choosing grace allows more happiness, peace, and ease into your life.    What You'll Learn: Defining what it means to offer grace (1:04) The primary root of our suffering (1:27) Recognizing the value of pain (2:31) Finding ways to give yourself more grace (3:19) How to know what's true and what's not (5:10)   Favorite Quotes: When I look at the causes of most of the suffering or challenges we have in our lives, it's truly because we lack grace for ourselves. We do everything possible to avoid feeling pain as if it is the worst thing to happen to us. And we don't understand that pain produces endurance. We should feel every single human emotion and just allow it to pass through us understand what it's saying, be able to own that and then let it go. And when we do that we give ourselves grace and we give others grace.  The only way to know what's truth versus what's not is to speak it. To ask the questions, to be willing to share with others, and to allow them to meet us where we are. And when we do that, we begin to bring the darkness to light. We begin to see the beauty of all of our parts and of everyone else. And we begin to realize that we are far more resilient, far more safe, far more capable, far more loved than we even knew.   Additional Resources:  For programs and opportunities to work with Blake, go to www.BlakeSchofield.com
