Welcome to a slapdash, socially distant installment of our annual Valentine’s Day-ish tradition of a beer and food pairing session with Greg Orth, founder of Craft Tastings, LLC. Since we were unable to proceed in our normal fashion – gathered around the pool table in the Beer Busters basement with whiskey, popcorn, surprises, bacon, grilled cheese, or lots of chocolate – this time around we tried a free-for-all quarantine pairing. With various beers from our beer fridges and snacks from our pantries, we mixed and matched through the most DIY and off-the-rails Craft Tastings episode to date. In the midst of the madness, we played a round of There’s Weird in My Beer in Happy Fun Time, and talked a lot about snack foods. As Greg likes to say, if you’re drinking beer and eating snacks, you can’t go wrong. We also caught up with our friend Mark Brault from Deer Creek Malthouse to chat about our involvement the upcoming Philadelphia Grain and Malt Symposium.   Do you love Beer Busters? Of course you do! Our old friend Greg Orth, Master of Flavor, returns for the 7th year in a row for our annual Valentine’s Day-ish tradition. Over the years, Greg – founder of Craft Tastings – has lead us through a wide variety of beer and food pairings. We started with chocolate, then moved on to a much wider array of snacks from bacon to popcorn and beyond. This time around, we come back to chocolate but swap out the beer for whiskey! Greg has been experimenting with using whiskey for his specialty pairing events, and we were more than happy to be his guinea pigs. In Happy Fun Time, Wayne hosted a round of There’s Weird in My…Booze. And, Steph, being out of her comfort zone, channeled our friend Lew Bryson in a Know Your Bourbon segment. After all of that, you will be surprised to learn that we actually remained relatively sober throughout the evening. Like real adults. Do you love Beer Busters? Of course you do! Continuing our longest-running Beer Busters tradition, Greg Orth from Craft Tastings returns for his fifth annual Valentine’s Day-adjacent appearance on the podcast. Greg has continued to innovate new and exciting ways to share his beer pairing expertise. This time, we return to his roots with some chocolate and beer pairing, but with a twist. With a theme of “going in blind” we started with some blind chocolate tasting, followed by a blind pairing challenge. Continuing the theme, we played the new blind beer tasting board game “Unlabeled” in Happy Fun Time, and Steph brought a list of food and beer pairing suggestions from local brewpubs in Know Your Beer.

With Greg Orth and Mike Reaser from Craft Tastings Master of the “mouthgasm” Greg Orth joined us again for the fourth year in a row to once again guide us through the world of food an beer pairing. His less-than-silent-partner (this time), Mike Reaser also joined in. Mixing it up this time we embarked on a beer pairing free-for-all with several tasty goodies the guys brought along and a veritable king’s ransom in beer. Dan got us up to speed with news, Steph talked about beer in cheese pairings in Know Your Beers (and Cheese) and we played a random pairing game with even more beers and more snacks in Happy Fun Time – and were joined by two of our longest standing patrons from Patreon.com/BeerBusters. It was a night to remember, though some of those memories are a bit fuzzy.

With Greg Orth from Craft Tastings Continuing our Valentine’s Day tradition once again we invited Greg Orth from Craft Tastings to the Beer Busters Podcast Basement to indulge in some delicious beer and food pairings. Dan brought us an update on beer and Girl Scout cookie pairings and we discussed Budweiser’s latest Super Bowl commercial. Wayne hosted There’s Weid in My Beer in Happy Fun Time and Steph beerducated us on the art of beer pairing in Know Your Beers. Greg delighted us as usual with mouthgasms aplenty, this time branching out beyond chocolate. And, of course, we set an on air pairing challenge with St. Boniface’s Hegemony Anniver5ary Reserve.

For this Valentine's episode, we were joined by Greg Orth of Craft Tastings, LLC., who introduced us to the magically taste-gasmic world of chocolate and beer pairing. Greg founded Craft Tastings, which specializes in hosting beer and chocolate pairing events, after years of enjoying and homebrewing great beers and nearly a decade and a half of working at Hershey's Chocolate. Besides having one of the most eye-opening tasting experiences in the universe, we also ran down the usual news, debuted a brand new Happy Fun Time Game all about beers with exotic ingredients, and got our dose of beerducation on beer and food pairing in Know Your Beers.
