I met Theosyn (Brad Theophila) through Hand Job Academy's Clara Bizna$$, when we met at one of her shows after she started playing solo gigs. Brad and I would later collaborate on many projects, including our parodies and "The Dewey Decibel System" with Mega Ran. This week on the podcast, we talk about the early years of mp3.com, his time at RIT and how he linked with underground rap legends Cannibal Ox. We also talk about how he balances his production work for others with his solo material, as well as how he compartmentalizes his side hustles. Thanks Brad! Special Guest: Theosyn.
I met Maximus Skaff through Hand Job Academy, and he later directed the music video for my song with Watsky, “Never Afraid”. On today's episode, he talks about how some of his art has been inspired by his transgender identity, his origins in West Virginia, and how New York has changed during the COVID19 pandemic. We also talk about his upcoming projects and he drops some knowledge of how he markets his music through Spotify. A wide-reaching and very dope interview, thanks Max! https://vimeo.com/399315775 https://unclemeg.bandcamp.com Special Guest: Maximus Skaff.

I met Ash Wedsnesday when her band Hand Job Academy played the nerdcore showcase at SXSW in 2015 at the Flamingo Cantina. Two years later, we got engaged; three years later we were married; and five years later, we had a son. On this podcast, we talk about the origin of her band, what it was like touring the UK with Wheatus, and how Hand Job Academy went viral. We also talk about the hopes and dreams for our son. Brooklyn-based hip hop trio Hand Job Academy raps about street harassment, body positivity, the challenges of growing up girl.
It’s EPIC PIEcast! Party with Nelson Lugo and Schaffer the Darklord as they dust off every corner of pop culture for discussion, debate, and deconstruction with all the snark and witty banter that they can muster. Summer's here, and you know what that means: more audible sirens in the background of the EPIC PIEcast! In this month's episode, Schaffer adopts a hairless cat/demon, Lugo lands a gig as a (legitimate) clown and both hosts bat their eyelashes at Nathan Drake's latest adventure. Then the boys are visited by Brooklyn-based hip hop trio Hand Job Academy for a chaotic convo about YouTube views, bad bookings, and peeing on the road. Is Schaffer in the grips of a pink nightmare? Does Lugo wield the healing power of laughter? Will Ash, Meg, and Clara reveal the truth behind Hand Job Academy's origin story? The answers to these questions will be drowned out by air horns in this month's episode. Rapper Clara Biznass of Hand Job Academy is on the show to talk about Russ Meyer's Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Tura Satana's legendary life story, queer characters in exploitation cinema, and the men in this movie as a metaphor for all men. There's also some talk about Lemonade, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and the problems with nerd culture. The audio connection is iffy in places, but the conversation holds together.
