It's a new dawn, it's a new day… Big changes happening around Redskins Park… But let’s start with the game… The Washington Redskins took their fifth consecutive L of the Year against the New England Patriots… it was another brutal game for this team, bringing their season record to 0-5, and ultimately being the straw that broke the camels back and costing Jay Gruden his job as Head Coach… that’s right the Washington Redskins parted ways with their longest tenured coach in the Dan Snyder Era… the Redskins again came out lame against the Patriots, Gruden’s choice for the best QB to win this game looked lost at times and downright unprepared and the rest of the team again struggled throughout almost every aspect of this game… Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the Patriots Defense did exactly what everyone expected them to do, they came in and they thoroughly beat this team all day, not only getting the win but out-coaching and out-playing the Redskins across the board… In Episode Seventeen, I cover the good, the bad and the consistently ugly of the Redskins fifth regular season game of the 2019 season against the New England Patriots. I review the game overall, Colt McCoy’s first start of the season and just how bad he looked, I delve into the non-existent running game, and the Defense coming out strong, then petering out… I take another deep dive into the coaching staff, starting with the firing of Jay Gruden, touching on my expectations from interim Head Coach Bill Callahan, the early decision to continue to sit Dwayne Haskins, how all of these changes will effects Kevin O’Connell, what I liked and didn’t like from the press conferences from both Callahan and Allen, and finally a way to early look into coaching candidates for the 2020 season… I give my opinion on Bruce Allen and what this team needs to do the rest of this season and into the offseason, starting with naming a GM that will take over football operations and have the latitude to bring in a new coach and coordinator accordingly and allow that group to have complete control of the players that are signed and drafted… And in a long overdue decision I think I’ve reached the point where I am done talking about Trent Williams for a while in what may be my last update (but probably not) in the ongoing saga that is “The Trent Williams Situation”... And finally I provide my prediction for the upcoming week six "Battle for 1st Overall Pick in the 2020 Draft" against the Miami Dolphins… As always, enjoy my unsolicited and unrealistically optimistic opinions on all things Washington Redskins in this Episode covering the 2019 Week Five Loss, to the New England Patriots and the subsequent firing of Head Coach Jay Gruden… If you don't already, please follow me on Twitter @HTTRChamps and as always, #HTTR --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/offseasonchampions/message

"To pass is to relinquish control, to give up the certainty of the ball at your feet for the uncertain outcome. To pass is to anticipate and imagine a future, while to keep the ball and dribble is to stay in the moment for as long as possible." In Episode Seventeen we look back to 'Notes on Street Football' by Aleksandar Hemon, first published in Issue Ten in September 2013. What can kickabouts on street corners and parking lots reveal about the tortured artists of neo-romantic myth? Are the romantic street-artists on the wane in the age of globalised, professionalised, commercialised football? If you have any feedback comments or suggestions email podcast@theblizzard.co.uk or find us on Twitter @blzzrd. Aleksandar Hemon is a Bosnian-American writer and novelist. His novel, The Lazarus Project, was a finalist for the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Awards. His most recent book is a work of non-fiction, The Book of MY Lives.
