After spending a little time mulling over the post-release feelings surrounding "The Colonel & The King," Justin and Bec give their thoughts on the newest Elvis box set from Sony Legacy, Sunset Boulevard, which encompasses recordings and rehearsals done between 1970-1975 at RCA's Studio C in Hollywood. The duo reflect on the the successes and shortcomings of this era of box sets that seems to be drawing to a close.  From Elvis in Nashville, Back in Nashville, Memphis and Sunset Boulevard mark a period where producer Ernst Jorgensen and mixer Matt Ross-Spang have seemingly reinterpreted Elvis's multi-track studio work in the 1970s through a more "rockist" lens; that is to say, one that promotes and emphasizes the perceived authenticity or purity of raw material recorded in-studio by Elvis and a core rhythm band without additional backing vocalists, strings and horns.  Despite great, modern-sounding re-mixes, these box sets have also marred by inconsistent mix decisions that contradict the claims that you're only hearing what Elvis heard in the studio - selectively leaving some overdubs, removing contributions from musicians that were physically in the studio with Elvis, and much more. It's a thought-provoking discussion about what the goals were, what value these sets have added, and whether they have helped us understand Elvis's creative process any better. For Song of the Week, Bec picks a childhood favorite, the sweet ballad "A Boy Like Me, A Girl Like You" from the Girls! Girls! Girls! soundtrack. Then, Justin uses "Good, Bad But Beautiful," an instrumental intended for Elvis to finish, to explore the fascinating circumstances of sessions, publishing, and release schedules that led to its recording at Stax in July of 1973... and Elvis's rejection of the Clive Westlake-penned song (later done by Shirley Bassey) at a late September 1973 session at his Palm Springs home, less than three weeks after having attempted to fire his manager.  This is one you won't want to skip... because there's a special Elvis Week surprise in this Song of the Week segment, courtesy of our good friends Jamie and John over at the EAP Society.

In this episode of Success Is Subjective, Joanna sits down with Bec Koop, whose life has taken more unexpected turns than most. Raised in Northern Virginia and originally pursuing criminal justice, Bec shifted paths after a professor's honest advice—and a realization that chasing justice wasn't the same as finding peace. Since then, her journey has included ski resorts, snowmobiles, cannabis flower design, and now, healing work rooted in movement and joy. After surviving two serious back injuries, Bec chose a different kind of recovery—one built on yoga, meditation, and inner work instead of medication. Today, she helps make homes more accessible and hosts Vibrational Transcendance events that reconnect people with play, creativity, and their inner child. Bec's story is raw, powerful, and full of heart—proof that success doesn't always follow a straight line.Bec's Resources:Vibrational TranscendanceInstagramConnect with Joanna Lilley  Therapeutic Consulting AssociationLilley Consulting WebsiteLilley Consulting on Facebook Lilley Consulting on YouTubeEmail joanna@lilleyconsulting.com#TherapeuticConsulting #LilleyConsulting #Successful  #TherapeuticPrograms #Therapy #MentalHealthMatters #Podcast #PodcastCommunity #TheJourney #SuccessIsSubjectivePodcast #TheUnpavedRoad #PFCAudioVideo #BecKoop #VibrationalTranscenDance #HealingJourney #HolisticWellness #MindBodyHealing

It's The Ranch It Up Radio Show! Join Jeff Tigger Erhardt, Rebecca Wanner AKA BEC and their crew as they go through the Angus Access program for marketing those red angus feeder calves.  Plus reports from the Video Royale Sale from Superior Livestock Auction on this all new episode of The Ranch It Up Radio Show. Be sure to subscribe on your favorite podcasting app or on the Ranch It Up Radio Show YouTube Channel. Season 5, EPISODE 249 Red Angus Association Rebrands Feeder Calf Certification Program As Angus Access The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) has officially rebranded its longstanding Feeder Calf Certification Program (FCCP) to Angus Access. This change reflects more than just a name update — it marks a strategic evolution in how Red Angus cattle are marketed, verified, and positioned within the beef industry. What Is Angus Access Angus Access is the beef industry's first genetic, age, and source verification program, now modernized for today's traceability and quality assurance demands. USDA-approved and trusted by Red Angus producers for over 30 years, the program now better aligns with both consumer expectations and industry trends like case-ready beef and private label branding. Why Red Angus? Premium Quality, Recognized Value Red Angus cattle consistently produce premium Angus beef, a product category in high demand with consumers seeking quality and consistency. The new name, Angus Access, emphasizes the breed's place within Angus-branded beef programs, helping Red Angus producers gain the recognition — and market share — they deserve. A Legacy Of Verification & Market Access Originally launched in 1995, the Feeder Calf Certification Program was developed to help Red Angus calves compete with black-hided counterparts and gain access to value-based marketing opportunities. Through USDA-backed verification and the program's iconic yellow tags, Red Angus calves earned industry-wide recognition for: Feedlot performance Carcass consistency High-quality beef production Today, over 3.5 million calves have been enrolled in FCCP and its crossbred counterpart, Allied Access. Both programs have helped commercial producers nationwide capture added value through verified genetics and transparent sourcing. Transition To 840 Tags By 2026 RAAA is ensuring a smooth transition for current users. While existing FCCP tags remain valid through July 1, 2027, starting January 1, 2026, only 840 EID (Electronic Identification) tags will be issued for both Angus Access and Allied Access programs. Benefits of 840 EID tags include: Improved traceability Automated data collection Reduced tag loss Enhanced animal-level tracking (e.g., birthweight, health protocols, genetics) Better compliance with domestic and export regulations Optional visual tags with the Angus Access and Allied Access logos will still be available for producers who value visual ID. EID Technology Supports The Future Of Beef Production As vertically integrated supply chains become the norm, EID-based verification systems are now expected by many beef processors, including sustainability-driven companies like Sustainable Beef. Research shows that beef products linked to transparent, verified production practices increase consumer trust by over 80%, driving repeat purchases and stronger brand loyalty. Angus Access:  Driving The Future Of Verified Red Angus Beef The Angus Access rebrand is more than a marketing change — it's a powerful statement of RAAA's commitment to innovation, data integrity, and producer success. As consumer preferences and retailer demands evolve, Angus Access ensures that Red Angus genetics and the cattlemen behind them are ready to lead the way in transparent, value-driven beef production. EPISODE 93 DETAILS Cow Prices Double & Screwworm Threatens Texas Weigh Up Cow Prices Are Up Weigh-up cow prices have increased dramatically over the last two years and are now currently at prices that are close to double the average price of what they were just 3 years ago in 2022.  To put this in perspective, the average annual weigh-up cow prices per CWT were $60.05 in 2020, $65.40 in 2021 and $76.12 in 2022, as reported by USDA Market News at the Joplin Regional Stockyards in Missouri.  For folks who are marketing home raised cows that are more than two years of age, make sure that the income from these cows is identified as capital gains income when it is being reported for tax purposes.  This is especially important this year because many cow-calf producers will also have excellent income from the sale of weaned calves and yearlings. Capital gains income is not subject to self-employment tax, and the federal capital gains tax rate will be lower than the ordinary income tax rate for the same level of earnings. Make sure you consult with your tax professional on all income tax law and liabilities. The screwworm was first reported in Mexico in November and has steadily made its way north since then. The most northern recent reported case was in the state of Veracruz, Mexico, which is about 370 miles south of McAllen, Texas, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, says the screwworm flies could devastate the state's cattle industry if it crosses onto U.S. soil. Cornyn says an outbreak could cost Texas livestock producers approximately $1 billion and cost the general economy $3.7 billion. Last week, 175 groups sent a letter to Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and the U.S. House and Senate in support of building a sterile fly facility in the U.S. Among the national groups that signed the letter were the American Farm Bureau, Livestock Marketing Association, National Beef Cattlemen's Association and the National Milk Producers Association. This episode of Wisdom from the Wardrobe, the team laces up a lively conversation that's equal parts style, semantics, and sole searching. Inspired by a real-life footwear fiasco, where a journalist was denied entry to a private members club for breakfast for wearing “sneakers” she swears they weren't sneakers and her outfit was elevated. We're diving feet-first into the fashionable gray area of what actually counts as a sneaker in today's style landscape. Are those minimalist leather kicks gym shoes in disguise? Can designer trainers moonlight as dress shoes? And why do some establishments still act like sneakers are the style equivalent of showing up in flip-flops? From the gym floor to the runway, the hosts untangle the evolution of sneakers, from their rubber-soled roots to their high-fashion reinventions. Expect plenty of laughs, spirited debate, and hot takes on everything from restaurant dress codes to why some sneakers might just be more polished than your average pair of Oxfords. As always, we're serving up practical styling tips, sneaky (pun intended) fashion faux pas to avoid, and fresh ideas on how to elevate your sneaker game, without getting turned away at the door. Oh, and before we step into all that…Bec drops an eyebrow-raising, poop-tastic “in the news” segment that's about decluttering using the “poop theory”, and let's just say, things get messy in the best possible way. Whether you're a sneakerhead or a style skeptic, this episode is a must-listen for anyone who's ever wondered if their footwear is too casual, or just misunderstood

The National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA), along with numerous state cattle associations, is urging lawmakers to support the Hauling Exemptions for Livestock Protection (HELP) Act, introduced by Representative Jeff Hurd (R-CO). This critical legislation would provide long-overdue relief for livestock haulers, protecting them from the burdensome Hours of Service (HOS) and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) mandates. HELP Act Would Reinstate Vital Exemptions for Livestock Transportation The HELP Act seeks to permanently codify HOS and ELD exemptions that were temporarily granted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) during the COVID-19 pandemic. These exemptions allowed livestock truck drivers to safely transport live animals without being restricted by rigid federal mandates. For nearly two years, these waivers gave haulers the flexibility to adapt to weather, traffic, and the unique demands of transporting live animals—ensuring animal welfare and supply chain efficiency. However, once the exemptions expired, livestock haulers once again faced regulations that threaten both. By reinstating these exemptions, the HELP Act would ensure drivers can continue safely and humanely transporting livestock across the country without unnecessary delays or stress to animals. Speed Limiter Rule Dropped, But More Relief Is Needed In a recent win for the livestock industry, FMCSA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the withdrawal of a proposed rule to require speed limiters on commercial trucks. While this was welcomed by livestock haulers, HOS and ELD mandates remain a pressing concern. Unlike other freight, cattle and other livestock cannot be easily stopped, unloaded, or left idle during transport. Delays can cause undue stress or injury to animals, making flexible transportation rules essential. NCBA Thanks Rep. Jeff Hurd and Urges Congressional Action The NCBA has voiced strong support for the HELP Act and applauds Rep. Jeff Hurd for introducing this livestock-friendly legislation. By passing the HELP Act, Congress can ensure that haulers have the tools and flexibility needed to protect animal welfare, support ranchers, and strengthen the food supply chain.   To Review The Bill, Click HERE. Climate change has led the Northern Rivers has been inundated by flood and flood threats, but it has also shown Australia - and the world - what it looks like to lead a community response to climate change. In this episode we talk with Rebecca McNaught, a community researcher on disaster response who shares with us how the community did respond to the extreme floods in 2022, and what all communities can learn from what they did.Bec has decades of experience in community-led climate work, having worked across the Pacific and the world before focusing on researching best practice in community strategies. She was undertaking field work when the 2022 floods began, and she helped lead emergency support with others in her neighbourhood before she finished her PhD documenting best practice. In this conversation she argues that big concepts like "climate change adaptation" and creating climate infrastructure are at their heart about building strong social bonds between people who can be there for each other when dialling 000 no longer works. For more on the Northern Rivers Community Resilience Alliance see here. For information on the University of Sydney's University Centre for Rural Health see here. For more on ChangeMakers check us out:Via our Website - https://changemakerspodcast.org (where you can also sign up to our email list!)On Facebook, Instagram, Threads - https://www.facebook.com/ChangeMakersPodcast/Blue Sky Social - changemakerspod.bsky.aocial & amandatattersall.bsky.socialOn X/Twitter - @changemakers99 or @amandatattsOn LinkedIn - Amanda.Tattersall Hosted on Acast. Week In The Rockies Superior Livestock Auction Sale Report A tremendous cattle market for the Week In The Rockies Sale by Superior Livestock Auction.  Few complete Sale Reports HERE. Beef Cattle News Beef Market Uncertainty Fueled By Tight Supplies & High Prices According to Texas A&M Agricultural Economist David Anderson, the beef sector is entering a prolonged period of tight supplies and sustained high prices, and any meaningful herd expansion remains elusive.   Anderson said that calf prices have reached record levels, with 500- to 600-pound steers in the Southern Plains averaging $4 per pound, but instead of retaining heifers to grow the herd, producers are largely “taking the money and running.”   The shift toward expansion, when it happens, could lead to a temporary sharp decline in beef production, as fewer heifers are sent to feedlots. Anderson pointed to the upcoming Cattle on Feed report, which will include a quarterly update on heifers versus steers on feed, as a key signal.   Another headwind for beef production is the ongoing closure of the U.S.-Mexico border to imported feeder cattle due to screw worm concerns. Anderson said the loss of 26,000 head per week is equivalent to 4% of the U.S. calf crop and about 18% of feeder placements in the Southwest, with significant regional impacts.   The effects of that shortfall are already being seen, Anderson said, as steer and heifer slaughter continue to fall below year-ago levels. While heavier carcass weights have helped offset declining numbers in recent years, Anderson expects weights to dip below 2024 levels due to shorter feeding periods and fewer days on feed.   Anderson said that dynamic of fewer cattle and lower weights will continue to tighten beef supplies and support high prices. Prices for 50% lean trimmings have reached record highs amid strong demand for ground beef.   While retail prices typically dip after summer highs, Anderson said overall price levels will remain elevated. He forecast quarterly declines in beef production through 2026, citing fewer calves, a smaller cow herd and the absence of imported feeders.   Even if herd expansion begins now, Anderson said, the biology of the cattle cycle means any supply increases are years away. “We're already talking four years out before you even see increases in beef production,” he said. Traveling with a Minor Who Is Not Your Child: What's Required? Taking someone else's child on a trip? Even with the best intentions, this raises legal and medical concerns. Most airlines, border patrol agencies, and even campgrounds may require written consent and documentation. Documents When Traveling with a Minor Whether you're going across the country or just across state lines, you'll want to carry: Child Travel Consent Form (signed by both parents or legal guardians) Copy of the child's birth certificate or passport Medical Authorization Form (to approve medical care in emergencies) Insurance cards or policy numbers Emergency contact information Medical Authorization Form: Why It's Non-Negotiable A Medical Authorization Form grants temporary guardianship to seek medical attention for the child in case of illness or injury. Hospitals may not treat minors without this. Include in the form: Child's name and DOB Parent/legal guardian's name and signature (with notarization if possible) Details of the trip (dates and destination) List of approved treatments or restrictions Insurance details and primary care physician contact info You can download free templates online or get one notarized through your pediatrician's office or a legal advisor. New to You Camper? Why a Backyard Test Run is a Must Buying a “new to you” camper is exciting—but don't hit the road just yet. You wouldn't drive a used car across the country without testing it, right? Functionality First – Do a Trial Run in Your Driveway or Backyard Before your first real trip, set up your camper overnight at home. It's the safest, easiest way to uncover any hidden issues without being stranded hours from help. What to Test During Your Backyard Campout Power systems: Plug into shore power, test battery backup, lights, outlets, and USB ports Water systems: Fill fresh tank, test pump, faucets, toilet, and shower Propane appliances: Run stove, fridge, and heater (test for leaks!) Slide-outs and leveling systems: Make sure all mechanical parts move smoothly Sleeping arrangements: Try beds and cushions overnight Storage: Test drawers, bins, and access to gear Emergency gear: Fire extinguisher, CO2/smoke detectors, first aid kit You'll also want to practice dumping tanks if your camper includes grey and black water systems. Beaver County Shatters Records with Top 10 All-Time Highs for 9-Weight Steers The national feeder cattle market remained red hot on Tuesday, especially for heavier weight classes, with all-time record highs set for the weighted average prices in the 800–899, 900–999, and 1,000–1,099 lb categories. Prices reached $325.79 for 8-weights, $319.39 for 9-weights, and $305.53 for 10-weights—levels once thought nearly unattainable. Records were set across the country, reflecting exceptional strength and broad-based demand in the heavyweight feeder market. Beaver County Stockyards (Beaver, OK) blew the top off the record books on Tuesday, setting an incredible 30 new barn records across multiple weight classes, including all-time highs for 4-, 7-, 8-, 9-, and 10-weight steers—marking one of the most dominant single-day market performances in the barn's history. Highlights included 18 head at 748 lbs bringing $364.00/cwt, the highest 7-weight price on Tuesday and one of the Top 5 all-time; 18 head at 829 lbs at $333.50/cwt, a new all-time high for 8-weights and one of six new Top 10 sales in that class; and 15 head at 1,031 lbs bringing $312.00/cwt, the highest 10-weight ever sold at the barn. But the biggest headline came from the 9-weights, where all 10 of the top 10 highest-priced sales in Beaver County history were set in a single day, led by 49 head at 900 lbs selling for a record $327.00/cwt. Why RV Life Works for Advocates Michelle shares how being mobile helps her connect with diverse ag communities, document real farming stories, and bust myths about food and agriculture on the go. From cornfields to coastline, her mission doesn't stop when the wheels are rolling. Featured Guest: Michelle Miller, The Farm Babe https://thefarmbabe.com/ Horses & Mules at the Forefront of Texas Flood Recovery In the aftermath of the deadly July 4 flash floods in Texas' Kerr County—one of the worst inland flooding events in recent memory—search and recovery teams are turning to a timeless ally:  that's right, horses and mules.   Why? Because where debris-strewn banks and unstable terrain block vehicles, these animals can still go. Mounted teams are working alongside an army of responders: helicopters, airboats, search dogs, drones, and cadaver dogs. It's part of one of the largest inland flood recovery operations in U.S. history. These Mounted teams are combing the Guadalupe River's rugged, debris-filled areas. They're able to reach pockets of woods, riverbanks, and ravines that rescue boats and crews couldn't access. At the same time, they are helping transport rescuers, volunteers, and even supplies through terrain too treacherous for trucks or trailers. Equine teams are proving to be more than symbols—they're assets, bridging gaps between modern technology and natural limitations. Jay Cutler's Legal Hunt Sparks Outrage — But the Real Story Hits Different Well, it looks like former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler is in hot water—not for a bad pass, but for a perfect shot on a hunting trip in South Africa. Jay posted a photo of himself with a sable antelope he legally hunted, and the internet lost its mind. Keyboard critics called it cruel, accused him of killing a "critically endangered" species, and slammed him for everything from animal rights to ego. But here's the truth: they got the antelope wrong. Jay hunted a common sable, which is legal, ethical, and not endangered. The animal some folks are confusing it with—the giant sable—is endangered, but it only lives in central Angola, nowhere near South Africa. So yeah, the internet outrage? Pretty misinformed. And here's the kicker—hunts like Jay's actually help fund conservation. In countries like South Africa, those guided hunts pour money into habitat preservation, anti-poaching, and wildlife protection. Did Jay apologize? Nope. He doubled down, posting more pics and videos, writing: “Another great day.” And hey, if you're on the hunter's side, you know—it was a clean hunt, from  a healthy herd, and for a good cause. So before folks throw stones from their smartphones, maybe take a closer look at the facts—and the antelope. Bec Judd first made headlines in ‘that’ red dress at the Brownlow Medals, a moment that catapulted her into the national spotlight and created a media frenzy. The Perth girl went from working in trauma wards as a speech pathologist to presenting on national TV, becoming a businesswoman and one of Australia’s most famous WAGs. In this chat with Helen Smith, Bec reveals why she’s why she’s choosing to be transparent about cosmetic work, the questions she's asked that her husband never is and and the beauty procedures she refuses to try - despite being shamelessly vain. Be sure to subscribe on your favorite podcasting app or on the Ranch It Up Radio Show YouTube Channel. Top Reasons To Use Drones For Spraying Pastures & Weeds  Agri Drones can seed and spray chemicals when fields are not ready for equipment and it is more precise than other aerial seeding options. Plus a drone can avoid obstacles and pinpoint certain areas.  You can find out more about who we used to control our noxious weeds by clicking Pro Ag Solutions. 1. Precision Application Targeted spraying of individual weed patches instead of blanket applications Reduces herbicide waste and chemical drift GPS-guided flight paths ensure consistent coverage and record-keeping 2. Access Hard-to-Reach Areas Drones can easily reach: Steep terrain Wet ground or boggy spots Brushy fence lines and ravines Eliminates the need to risk equipment damage or operator safety in difficult terrain 3. Reduced Soil Compaction No heavy tractor tires driving over sensitive ground Helps preserve soil structure and forage health 4. Time & Labor Savings Faster setup and application time compared to manual or vehicle-based sprayers Reduces labor requirements — one operator can manage several acres per hour Perfect for small patches or spot treatments that aren't worth dragging out a boom sprayer 5. Ideal for Sensitive Areas Less impact on: Native grasses Wildlife habitat Waterways (when used with precision nozzles and appropriate buffers) 6. Data Collection & Monitoring Many drones are equipped to map weed infestations before spraying Enables before-and-after analysis, recordkeeping, and adaptive management 7. Cost-Effective for Small & Mid-Sized Pastures Great return on investment for: Pastures under 200 acres Rotational grazing systems Landowners or ranchers who want more control over timing and application Cattle News Cattlemen's Groups React to “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill” The U.S. Cattlemen's Association (USCA) and the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) commented on the successful passage of "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill", which includes several provisions critical to the U.S. livestock industry and wins for America's family farmers and ranchers. A few of the highlights include: Livestock Indemnity Program  Establishes a payment rate for losses due to predation at 100% of the market value and losses due to adverse weather or disease at 75% of the market value.  Introduces additional payments for unborn livestock death losses incurred on or after January 1, 2024, at a rate determined by the Secretary, not exceeding 85% of the payment rate for the lowest weight class of livestock.  Livestock Forage Disaster Program  Allows for two monthly payments and specifying eligibility criteria based on grazing periods and expands the program by allowing it to kick in after 4 consecutive weeks of drought, rather than the previous 8 consecutive weeks Emergency Assistance  Provides emergency assistance for cattle with specific payment rates and eligibility criteria.  Death Tax  The bill increases the Death Tax exemption to $15 million per individual or $30 million per couple, adjusted annually for inflation. This means if the value of your farm or ranch plus equipment, cattle, and other assets are less than $15 million individually or $30 million as a couple Foreign Animal Disease Prevention  Specifies funding allocations for foreign animal disease prevention programs.  REFERENCES:  https://www.nationalbeefwire.com/usca-comments-on-legislative-passage-of-the-one-big-beautiful-bill https://www.nationalbeefwire.com/national-cattlemen-s-beef-association-comments-on-the-one-big-beautiful-bill https://www.nationalbeefwire.com/congress-passes-megabill-with-significant-farm-program-funding U.S Beef & Pork Exports To China Drop Sharply As Tariffs Climb Skyrocketing Tariffs Crush U.S. Meat Trade with China U.S. beef and pork exports to China plunged in late April and early May, driven by steep tariffs reaching 147% on beef and 172% on pork, according to the USDA Economic Research Service. A temporary 90-day tariff cut — down to 32% for beef and 57% for pork — failed to revive U.S. meat shipments to levels seen in May 2024. Trade Challenges Mount Ahead of August Deadline Compounding the issue, China declined to renew registrations for multiple U.S. beef plants and cold storage facilities in February, further restricting exports, says the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF). “The need for progress in trade talks is urgent,” said USMEF President Dan Halstrom, warning that tariffs could spike again on August 12. Exporters are already reconsidering their plans for the Chinese market. State & National Records Broken For Feeder Cattle Green City Livestock Marketing hosted its Annual Beef BBQ Customer Appreciation event with a powerhouse two-day sale that drew intense buyer demand and showcased top-tier cattle. Widely regarded as one of the most exceptional sales in the barn's history, the event shattered records at every level—posting 35 all-time barn records, 13 new Missouri state highs, and 4 national benchmarks. The results speak to both the superior quality of the offering and the underlying strength of the current feeder market.   New highs were set across multiple weight classes, with several standout drafts making national headlines. On July 2, 2025, 11 head at 615 lbs sold for $425.00/cwt, marking the highest 6-weight steer price ever recorded in the U.S. That same day, 39 head at 705 lbs brought $369.00, the third-highest price nationally for 7-weight steers. Other highlights included 21 head at 433 lbs fetching $462.50 (4-weights) and 17 head at 846 lbs bringing $329.50 (8-weights), both setting new highs. The momentum began on June 30 with two heavyweight drafts: 63 head at 906 lbs sold for $315.25 (4th all-time nationally) and 67 head at 902 lbs brought $313.75 (10th all-time), both breaking barn and Missouri state records for 9-weight steers.

After setting the stage by understanding producer Felton Jarvis's career leading up to his early collaborations with Elvis, we continue to investigate and interrogate the fan belief that he was singularly to blame for the "syrupy" overdubs that diminished the "pure" unfinished tracks. Helped along by a 1980 interview done between Felton and Jerry Flowers of RCA in which the producer talks about his career retrospectively, Justin and Bec trace Felton's journey as Elvis hires and hand-picks him to be his exclusive producer, taking Felton away from RCA and other artists so that Elvis can, as a largely autonomous artist whose only studio commitments during this decade are to send periodic deliverables to RCA, work at his own pace and create the kind of recordings that he truly wants. But was Felton truly to blame for the overindulgent strings and horns that were added to Elvis's music, or is there someone else that we've collectively overlooked? And has the narrative been all wrong and the way we even talk about "overdubs" been clouded by a widespread "rockist" misunderstanding of both Elvis and Felton, their respective jobs and tastes, and misunderstood expectations of the kind of music both fans & critics thought Elvis "should" be making?  The duo examine Elvis's live performances in relation to his studio work, touch on a few more non-Elvis records produced by Felton, and even revisit the 1981 "Guitar Man" project Felton spearheaded before his early death to see if it provides clearer insight into the producer's preferences and tastes. For Song of the Week, Bec makes a promise that "It Won't Be Long," covering the recording cut from "Double Trouble," while Justin goes prospecting because he's pretty sure "There's Gold in the Mountains" still to be dug up from "Kissin' Cousins." In this episode, we dive into two topics that might just save you stress—or even your life. Dog Training: Why a “Growl” Speaks Louder Than Words First, we explore the importance of putting a "handle" on your dog or puppy at a young age. Discover how using a natural, mother-like growl can teach respect, set boundaries, and prevent long-term behavioral issues—without yelling or punishment. Setting Boundaries Early with Your Dog or Puppy Putting a “handle” on your dog or puppy at an early age is critical for establishing authority and structure. A dog that respects boundaries grows into a confident, balanced companion. Why a Growl Works Using a low, natural growl as a correction tool mimics the way a mother dog disciplines her pups. It's instinctual, effective, and avoids yelling or physical punishment. Growling is a natural, recognizable tone for dogs. It grabs attention and commands respect without fear. This technique works best when started young, alongside leash work inside the home. Tornado Season 2025: Camping, Shelters & Staying Safe Tornado Activity Is Surging in 2025 Next we shift focus to Tornado Season 2025, which is already more intense than 2024. With 1,296 tornado reports as of June—well above the historical average—we break down what every family or camping group needs to know. From finding shelter at campgrounds (or lack thereof) to understanding the difference between a Tornado Watch and Warning, this is a must-listen for anyone traveling, camping, or living in storm-prone areas. Notable Trends: Iowa: 100 tornadoes in June 2024 → only 16 in June 2025. North Dakota: 2 tornadoes in June 2024 → 34 in June 2025. Whether you're raising a pup or planning your next outdoor trip, this episode brings practical tips and critical awareness together in one powerful conversation. USDA to Reopen Livestock Trade with Mexico in Phases The USDA has announced a phased reopening of U.S. ports to cattle, bison, and equines from Mexico starting July 7, 2025, beginning with the Douglas, Arizona port. This follows significant progress in Mexico's New World Screwworm (NWS) response, including expanded surveillance, increased sterile fly dispersal (over 100 million per week), and no recent signs of northward NWS spread. USDA officials conducted on-site evaluations and determined that conditions now support limited trade resumption. Further port reopenings in New Mexico and potentially Texas will depend on continued improvements, case monitoring, and enhanced animal health protocols.   Port Reopening Timeline *After each reopening USDA will evaluate to ensure no adverse effects arise* REFERENCE: https://www.nationalbeefwire.com/u-s-cattle-report Walmart Launches First In-House Case-Ready Beef Facility in Kansas Walmart announced the grand opening of its first-ever owned and operated case-ready beef facility in Olathe, Kansas. This milestone reinforces Walmart's commitment to building a more resilient, transparent and efficient supply chain for Angus beef — helping Walmart provide quality beef options that meet demand and bring tremendous value to customers across the Midwest.   In 2022, Walmart made an equity investment in Sustainable Beef LLC in North Platte, Nebraska, as part of its continued efforts in creating an end-to-end supply chain for Angus beef. Sustainable Beef's majority ownership is local and producer-centric, with cattle sourced from no more than a 250-mile radius to the plant in a region that has exceptionally high-quality cattle. Now, the newly opened, 300,000+ square-foot, state-of-the-art facility will package and distribute Angus cuts sourced directly from Sustainable Beef LLC to stores across the Midwest, bringing even greater transparency to customers seeking quality beef options at Walmart stores in the region. TCBCast 366: Felton Jarvis & Elvis, Part 1 - "Stand By Me"

Intrigued by the premise presented by the recent Sony box sets like "Sunset Boulevard" describing Elvis's undubbed recordings as "pure," Justin decided to investigate the story behind the man who has borne most of the heavy criticism aimed at the production on Elvis's music, Felton Jarvis, who was Elvis's main producer from 1966-1977. While we've previously touched on Felton's work as a producer in our "Elvis and His Producers/Elvis as a Producer" episode, realizing we may not have given him a fair shake, on this episode Justin and Bec investigate Felton's early work at National Recording Corporation (NRC) in Atlanta, Georgia, his time at ABC-Paramount working with Tommy Roe, Fats Domino, Lloyd Price, the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and.... "Vince Everett"? They trace Felton's move to RCA Victor producing many successful acts and hit records in the field of country music in the mid-1960s and, naturally, his first sessions with Elvis across 1966-1968, chief among which was the How Great Thou Art project, which won Elvis his first-ever Grammy Award. Laced throughout are stories of a warm-hearted, good-natured Georgia boy - who loved Elvis Presley and dreamed so hard to one day produce his hero's music that he manifested it - from collaborators, friends and historians who have tried to relay some of Felton's story, as well as audio from Felton himself in conversation with RCA's Jerry Flowers in 1980, discussing his career in hindsight. Part 2 will even more directly interrogate the idea that Felton was, as so frequently repeated by Elvis fans over nearly 4 decades, singularly to blame for the "syrupy" overdubs that were a hallmark of Elvis's 1970s output, as Justin builds a case to convince Bec that she and everyone else - including sometimes even Justin himself - has been wrong all these years!
