Kimmy Fasani is a trailblazing snowboarder who, not by choice, made a huge difference in women's sports. Kimmy went from “Rider of the Year” to becoming a mom and when we last podcasted, the theme was, “will my sponsors stick by me?”. They did, but really, keeping sponsors is the last of Kimmy's life worries. Between losing her parents to cancer, to having cancer, to so many other things, Kimmy's life is not close to as easy as it looks and this podcast and her movie “Butterfly in a Blizzard” give a real look into what it's like to have the best of times and the worst of times. It's a heavy podcast and Sherry McConkey asks the Inappropriate Questions. Kimmy Fasani Show Notes: 4:00: Grateful Dead experiences, Butterfly in a Blizzard, her Dad's cancer, meeting Chris, her mom gets diagnosed with cancer, coping mechanisms, and getting pregnant 22:00: Liquid Force, Feel the Pull and get 15% off your LF Purchase by using the code Powell15 at checkout Stanley: The brand that invented the category! Blizzard has released article coalescing information from gamescom but more questions still abound. Lex, Sean, and Manny try to read between the lines and into the future of the World of Warcraft.
The litany of Midnight updates and information continues with things ranging from UI updates to dual wielding baguettes. Of course, we pore over every tiny crumb of Player Housing info, as the upcoming truest true end game. Our staff Druid Cory joined us, with an appeal for more Druid forms -- there are a few from the teasers we've seen that he is specifically writing to Santa Metzen about. There's another new Hearthstone miniset to discuss, and to go with it another achingly adorable little pet you can only get by gatcha.Plus, the Heroes of the Storm team gave Cory his regularly scheduled hopium in the form of a relatively sweeping update just before the crew went live. And right before the end of the podcast, Blizzard dropped a whole bunch of blog posts about Midnight, so at least we'll have something to talk about next week!If you have a few minutes, please fill out our survey to tell us what you think about the podcast. This week we are joined by the badass woman Mae/Tyleniphe where we talk about the release of the mini set, yet another introduction of the pet, and then we ask Mae some both very heavy and very fun questions about her Hearthstone career and personal life! Wildfires and torrential rains kick things off, giving way to an unexpected deep dive into lawn care—think mowers, stubborn mushrooms, invasive roots, and the perils of septic tanks. The conversation meanders through the joys and woes of home maintenance: unblocking drains, swapping out bathtubs, and the unique challenges that tall folks face in the shower. Then the real thunder strikes with a full rundown of the Ozzy Finale. We dissect the lineup: who jammed with whom, why Sammy appeared, the mystery guest from that numbered band, whether Ozzy could truly deliver, Sabbath's chemistry, and Jake E Lee's elusive presence. Our verdict? Plenty to debate. We pull back the curtain on the business side of Ozzy Inc.—especially those notorious songwriting credits, or the glaring absences thereof. Did the Blizzard of Ozz rhythm section get a raw deal? Where does Jake E Lee fit into the narrative?Just as Todd's yard troubles escalate, so does the drama: Vinnie Vincent enters the spotlight and the infamous Kiss contract he refused to sign. We break down the songwriting clauses, ask if Vinnie revitalized Kiss or got left in the cold, and trace his tumultuous ride from joining the band to his final departure. Playing devil's advocate, we also unpack the broader debate over singers and songwriters—do vocalists deserve the credit, or is the band bigger than any one front person?#MetalPodcast #RockTalk #OzzyOsbourne #BlackSabbath #KissBand #Songwriting #MusicBusiness #GuitarHeroes #VinnieVincent #MusicDebate Linktree: https://linktr.ee/seangeekpodcastPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/meetthegeeksMerch: Tee Public: https://www.teepublic.com/seangeekpodcastRed Bubble: https://www.redbubble.com/people/seangeekpodcast/shop@seangeekpodcast on Twitter, Instagram and FacebookMentioned in this episode:New Merch AdAn ad that incorporates Red Bubble and Tee Public

Frank is joined by Kyle and Scott for a packed roundtable on Gamescom highlights, World of Warcraft Midnight reveals, and a friendly debate on brand events versus trade shows. The crew breaks down Hollow Knight Silksong hype, Fallout Season 2's New Vegas vibe, a surprise standout in Lego Batman, and how Blizzard's housing and three raids at launch could reshape the way we play. They wrap with network updates and weekly recommendations. Fallout Season 2 leans into New Vegas energy and looks ready to give Walton Goggins even more to chew on. Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight plays like a full Arkham style experience in a lighter package. World of Warcraft Midnight lands with a striking Silvermoon set piece and a clear villain in Zalatath while sparking questions about the light aligned reinforcements. Midnight launches with three raids, eight dungeons, delves, and a prey system that targets you in the open world for dynamic encounters. Housing is fully free form with place anywhere decoration, neighborhood vibes, and recipes scattered across old zones and dungeons, which brings back legacy professions and exploration. Built in raid tools and UI polish aim to raise the floor for everyone, not just add on users. Brand owned shows like BlizzCon deliver clarity, atmosphere, and community rituals. Trade shows give reach and variety but can dilute focus. Memorable Quotes “Hollow Knight Silksong got a release date. I am beyond excited.” “Lego Batman is straight up a new Arkham game. Who knew that would be the most complete Batman experience.” “Lor'themar finally got his moment to be the badass I always wanted him to be.” “Three raids at launch is a return to a cadence that actually fits how people play now.” “Housing should pull you back into old Azeroth and make those zones feel alive again.” Call to Action Enjoyed the episode? I will be at Dragon Con on Labor Day weekend - and I couldn't talk about my schedule as we were recording, but its out now if you go look. Blizzard's Story and Franchise Development team successfully formed a union! Gamescom is bigger than it ever has been before, and it's a model that ESA should have tried with E3. Then we talk more about Dragon Con and why it's different than other conventions.

Music has a way of attaching itself to moments in our lives. A song can instantly transport us back to a place, a person, or a feeling — becoming part of our own personal soundtrack. In this special episode, I reflect on how Ozzy Osbourne's “Crazy Train” became permanently linked in my memory not just to Ozzy, but to Colorado Rockies legend Larry Walker. When Walker stepped to the plate at Coors Field in the 90s, “Crazy Train” echoed through the ballpark — fusing music and baseball into one unforgettable soundscape of childhood summers in Denver. We trace the story from Ozzy's final live performance and passing in 2025, through Larry Walker's journey from Canadian hockey hopeful to Rockies MVP, to the history of walk-up songs in Major League Baseball. Along the way, we explore how music has always been woven into the game, from “Tessie” and the 1903 Boston Americans to the stadium anthems that defined the modern era. This episode is part memoir, part baseball history, and part reflection on the universal power of music to connect us across time, place, and emotion. Mentioned in this Episode • Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard of Ozz (1980) • Larry Walker, Colorado Rockies outfielder (1995–2004) • The May 21, 1996 Rockies vs. Pirates game at Coors Field • The history of walk-up songs in Major League Baseball • “Tessie” and the Royal Rooters, 1903 World Series • Books: • Lawrence S. The easiest snow flake to remove from the roadway is the one that never lands on it. Seems obvious but how to make that happen? On this episode we're Talkin Winter Ops with Dan Gullickson, Minnesota DOT supervisor of their Blowing Snow Program. Ever since the 1880's when the railroads first started building snow fence to protect the track and the work on snow fence design that was part of the Strategic Highway Research Program in the 1990's, engineers have been working to refine snow fence design, materials, and earthwork configurations to manage drifting snow and keep it off the road.Listen in as Dan describes the latest state of the practice in snow fence design considerations they are employing at the Minnesota DOT.For more information on building a snow fence program check out the FHWA Road Weather Spotlight webinar on September 10, 2025. In today's Daily Fix:Battlefield and Call of Duty are set to go head-to-head again this Fall, with Battlefield 6 dropping in October, and Black Ops 7 in November. But the sentiment after a succesful open beta period is that Battlefield will be the one to grab gamers' attention, with former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra saying that Battlefield will 'boot stomp' CoD this year. But Treyarch's Miles Leslie thinks there's room for both, saying the Black Ops 7 dev is trying to shut out the noise and make the best game they can. In other news, Xbox dropped a trailer for the upcoming DLC to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, titled 'The Order of Giants.' The trailer also revealed a Switch 2 release sometime next year. And finally, we've got a peek at the five immersive worlds of the all-new Universal Epic Universe, and one of its featured attractions – Stardust Racers, all at Universal Orlando Resort.Presented by Universal Orlando Resort, and its new theme park, Universal Epic Universe.

11.Who Cares, It's Almost Midnight! - Episode 28 Show Notes Welcome to Episode 28! – 1:45 There is so much to discuss as we are on the cusp of the eleventh expansion of World of Warcraft. Naturally, I suggestions for Blizzard for improving the game as the main topic “What have you done lately?” – 6:09 Holy crap, there is so much I have done. Buckle up. It all seems to revolve around stories this episode. Some piled up unlearned recipes leads three of my characters onto huge tangents in Northrend, I discover a flight school in Hallowfall with a weak, indecisive headmaster, and I reach an account-wide leveling milestone (only to learn later this episode that I am actually still 2 levels shy) 11.2 Reactions – 55:21 The final major content patch for The War Within is live; Tazavesh is a cool city; comparing K'aresh to Argus, the (one) new Delve is solid; Bliz nailed it with optional depth of storytelling in the campaign questing. Drink of the Month – 1:27:18 Sneaking some Badlands Bourbon north into Farstrider Retreat. News – 1:32:08 Legion Remix announced in a post and video here: https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-us/news/24224370 My thoughts on it 2 is in full swing, including RTWF LFR Wing 2 and “Story” Mode raids launch today, August 19 LFR Wing 3 comes August 26 One more thing in the news…? Main Topic: Midnight Expansion Announcement – 1:45:02 Tuesday, August 19 (the day I FINALLY get this episode out), Blizzard will officially announce and introduce to us the Midnight expansion at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. 2:00 PM at SQ HQ, 11:00 AM on the West Coast at Blizzard HQ, and I believe 3:00 on August 20 for my friend the Snek of Vol'dun! My Midnight Wish List – 1:49:47 My list of 10 requests, the 10 great ideas I have for improving WoW for everyone, but certainly solo players. Free of charge, Bliz, free of charge. SQ Mailbag – 2:08:11 One negative rating has me upset, but maybe not in the way you would expect. But that is balanced by a new Patreon supporter who also likes my Solo Crew Refuge proposal for a player housing neighborhood. And, if you have the time and interest in entering your own ratings or reviews of the show in your podcast app, that would make me feel good and further balance out that negative. Outro – 2:38:30 Thanks to Blizzard for the amazing music and sound, to OGRE for intro/outro music, my lovely and supportive wife, and you for listening. The merch cluster is under attack. Pokemon Worlds took place in Anaheim this week and it was invaded by SCALPERS. While Garrett and Kyle attempt to fathom this, Japanese McDonald's was also forced to end their Pokemon Happy Meal tie-in early. Gamescom is tomorrow, and World of Warcraft is set to show its newest cinematic for Midnight. Dandadan, Alien: Earth, and so much more.

There are a lot of desserts named after severe weather phenomena, but not all of them are created equal. We asked Tornado Alley's top meteorologist, Gary England, to help us rank some of these desserts, based on the severity of the weather they are named for. In addition to Gary England's dessert rankings, this episode includes a conversation Paul Breslin about how weather affects our tastes. Breslin is a professor with the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Rutgers University. He also works with the Monell Chemical Senses Center, researching taste perception. This episode originally aired on July 27, 2014, and was produced by Dan Pashman and Kristen Meinzer.
