Alex Guerrero is one of the key reasons that Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and so many other legends have found success. When it comes to recovery, so many other trainers and practitioners focus on self-imposed physical timelines, but Alex is different. Using his background and training in holistic Chinese medicine, he integrates physical, emotional and spiritual components to improve strength and relief exponentially faster. By setting higher expectations for his athletes and changing their negative neuromuscular responses, his athletes start to learn and believe they can do things that others can't do. By training athletes to see and remember positive experiences, he trains their bodies to respond ultimately accomplishing things that other athletes dream about. Alex is also a father, grandfather, author and collaborator for Tom Brady's TB12 brand. He teaches us the secret to being elite “by focusing on the better” and that, “We can't be afraid to get worse, to get better.” @ag_tb12, @tb12sports

Welcome to "Ahead in the Count," presented by BIP Wealth. Our Baseball Division combines their collegiate and professional baseball playing experience with financial acumen to provide expertise in life on and off the field. We aim to give ballplayers and their families a better understanding about their unique lifestyle, the opportunities that come from playing this game, and insight into the complex financial world. This is "Ahead in the Count," hosted by Nolan Alexander, from BIP Wealth. John Hester and Chase Murray dive into a popular topic amongst clients and pro ballplayers - investing in professional sports teams! They explore the shift in sports ownership, driven by high-profile transactions like the Los Angeles Lakers' $10 billion valuation, evolving regulations, and relaxed ownership restrictions that now allow private equity and individual investors to acquire stakes in teams across baseball, basketball, football, and even eSports. The conversation highlights the appeal of sports franchises as valuable investments due to diverse revenue streams like TV deals, ticket sales, and merchandise. They discuss how ownership groups, rather than single owners, are becoming the norm, and how celebrities like Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Ryan Reynolds are entering the sports investment space. The Atlanta Braves stand out as a publicly traded team, offering accessible investment opportunities, though most opportunities remain geared toward high-net-worth individuals. The episode also touches on potential conflicts of interest, particularly for active MLB players, and the importance of due diligence when considering sports investments. The hosts note the emerging trend of private equity in college athletics and the need for investors to carefully evaluate these opportunities. BEST OF TST (2/3/25): Big Rituals Big Games Pouring Blood into Super Bowls

    The Secret Teachings

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 20, 2025 120:01

BEST OF TST: Many things come in threes, from the concept of body-mind-spirit to birth-life-death, and thus the various trinities found around the world from the dominant Christian conception to the Indian Trimurti. There is a universality to this truth, which can be found in everything from mass shootings to plane crashes. The spiritual side of these things is the human side, too, because when horrible things happen we see ourselves and loved ones in the dead; we pray, donate, hold candles, and think about life and death. The long-standing conspiratorial element to this fact has also just been reinforced by former FBI agent Jonathan Gilliam, who was on Fox News over the weekend to say that the recent plane-helicopter crashes “will often happen in threes or more,” and so we should expect to possibly see another one in the coming weeks. This belief that things happen in threes is rooted in psychological patterns, pop culture, and cultural superstitions, where people perceive a connection between events due to our tendency to recognize these patterns. This idea is reinforced by the significance of the number three in various aspects of life, such as religion and folklore, which adds to its mystery. Despite plane crashes becoming less common, the more attention we place on them the more even minor incidents, like a small plane in Palo Alto running off the runway over the weekend, become proof of the triplicity mystique. If another larger incident occurs, the Palo Alto story may be forgotten. The pattern in societal and psychological terms comes in threes before the cycle restarts: shock, curiosity, and digging for answers that never come (outside personal bias) leads to disinterest from short attention spans so that we forget, or think we have all the answers, and so move on to the next shocking episode be it a storm, assassination, shooting, or plane crash. When analyzing these types of stories, context matters too, along with numbers and names which become like reading the green code of the Matrix. This was certainly the case with #286 and Luigi Mangione. The American Airlines flight 5342, which took off from Kansas's Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport for DC's Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was carrying 64 people, while the UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter, from the 12th Air Battalion, that slammed into its side was carrying 3 - (67 overall = 13). ATC attempted to contact the helicopter prior to collision, but after a short response and silence, “13 seconds later” disaster struck. The runway cleared for landing was 33, which was shut down after. The plane type was a CRJ-700.The Learjet 55 that crashed in Philadelphia was carrying 6 crew and a child, for a total of 7 deaths, although other outlets have reported the child's mother died in the crash too. 19 others were injured. Others reported seven died in total, including a person on the ground. The FAA initially reported two people onboard, but corrected the report. The little girl had received medical care at a Shriners Hospital for Children 12 miles from the airport. The plane was headed to Tijuana, after a layover in Missouri at the Springfield-Branson National Airport. It seems slightly more than coincidence that the two major aviation incidents this past week have a connection to Super Bowl 59 next week. The Philadelphia Eagles will play the Kansas City Chiefs, who are actually located in Kansas City Missouri, a city split between two states. Some of the skaters onboard the AA flight were from Missoula, Montana. One of the major game storylines of the big game is that Patrick Mahomes has passed Joe Montana for second most playoff wins behind Tom Brady at 35 with his 7 Super Bowls. As already discussed on a previous show: “If we can pull a mythological narrative together… it could be between the Secret Chiefs, i.e., Deep State, and the symbolic bird of America, i.e., the eagle. The big game is being played at Caesars super dome, named after the entertainment casino company that uses a golden caesar for their logo. As this relates to politics we find Trump pushing the golden age of America narrative just weeks before the game, and we find the orange-yellow man fulfilling the promise of restoring order and even expanding America's territories, pricelessly what the first Augustus promised Rome. And funny enough, this Roman period was called Pax Romana, the golden age.” It is also odd that around Super Bowl time these types of aviation incidents, and some would argue sacrifices, are common in recent years. In January 2024, a Boeing 737-9 MAX made an emergency landing after the door plug blew out mid-flight, causing a cascade of criticism and public awareness. Just after the game there was a massacre at the winning celebration. As reported on a previous show: “NBC News reported at 9:44am Thursday 15th, 2024, 23 were injured and 2 were taken into custody = 25. At 10:17am Yahoo reported 22 injured and 3 taken into custody = 25. The numbers 25-22 was the final score of the game. The 3 arrested were out of a group of 10 questioned = 13, and 10-3 was the Halftime score of the Super Bowl.”During the week of the big game in 2023 a series of UFOs were tracked, shot down, and reported on in a national hysteria. Going back to 2020, January 26, the Sikorsky S-76B helicopter carrying Kobe Bryant and his 13-year old daughter crashed, killing 9 in total. It's odd enough Kobe was previously in a commercial for Nike where there was a helicopter crash via a bomb, or that Legends of Chamberlain Heights seemingly predicted the same incident just a few years before, but consider the following: the Sikorsky S-76B (SB 7+6=13) that killed Kobe was also meant to transport VIPs like himself, in likeness to the Black Hawk in Washington which was designed to carry VIPs. Both incidents occurred just prior to the Super Bowl. Sikorsky is also the same company that has MATRIX(tm) autonomy systems for Black Hawk helicopters, something DARPA was planning to test in 2025. In other words, remote controlled systems, which, coupled with the lack of response from the helicopter to ATC, formulates a conspiracy that either the technology failed or it has been used to create an incident and sacrifice the pilots in the process; the helicopter was officially on a “proficiency training flight.” Considering the recent drone hysteria, too, it is likely these objects were authorized by the FAA as an experiment to test AI-autonomy and situational awareness as part of a project called Convergence. On the other hand, viral conspiracy suggests there was no plane in Philadelphia because there was limited to no debris, essentially meaning it was a missile instead. The plane, however, was tipped at 45 degrees traveling at over 460mph and depending at 5-10 thousand feet per 60 seconds. For a small plane, with explosive medical equipment, it makes sense the entire thing was incinerated, or that the limited debris was exploded outward, not inward, far away from the crater. “I think the most important bit of evidence that we've seen so far is the doorbell video showing the aircraft descending at an incredible angle,” Arthur Wolk, an aviation expert, told NBC10. “Almost 45 degrees, which means that the airplane was out of control. No pilot would voluntarily descend any airplane at that angle. That probably resulted in the airplane striking the ground at over 400 knots and probably 5 or even 10,000 feet a minute going down that fast. So, something overtook this flight crew.”*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. The Dad Edge Podcast (formerly The Good Dad Project Podcast)

Have you ever asked yourself: Am I sacrificing too much time with my wife and kids in pursuit of my career or financial goals? What small changes could I make right now to build more connection points and memories with my family? Am I making choices that line up with the kind of legacy and example I want to set for my children? Whether you're a career-driven dad, a business owner, or just trying to do your best for your family, this episode is an honest look at why intentional time, connection, and legacy matter far more than your next paycheck. This week, Larry takes us on a heartfelt journey inspired by his recent 50th birthday, reflecting on the advice he wishes he could have given his younger self during his 30s and 40s. With deep sincerity, he opens up about the “rookie mistakes” he made by spending years grinding in a demanding career—sacrificing precious time with his wife and kids in pursuit of financial success. Drawing from powerful examples, including an emotional moment from Tom Brady reflecting on the cost of greatness, Larry reminds us that while hustling to provide is noble, it often comes at a price that money can't buy back: time, connection, and memories with our loved ones. He shares statistics on how finances often strain marriages, highlights the importance of intentional living, and encourages dads to pause and assess what their hard work might be costing them outside the office. So if you've ever questioned if the grind is worth it, or worried about missing out on what truly matters, this one's for you.    Become the best husband you can: https://bit.ly/deamarriageyoutube In this vital conversation, we dig into: The Hidden Price of Success: Working 60, 70, or even 80 hours a week is celebrated by many men. Yet, as Larry reveals, this dedication is often worn as a badge of honor. While providing for a family is noble, the cost can be severe. Countless hours spent at work are hours lost with children, spouses, and friends. Larry's own journey included long weeks on the road and executive-level sacrifices in the medical industry. Despite earning a good living, he found himself disconnected and unfulfilled. The Irreplaceable Asset: Time with Family: Time is the one thing every parent has in equal measure—24 hours each day. Although bank accounts and careers differ, the hours we have with loved ones are finite. Larry highlights this by referencing Tom Brady's emotional reflection on his father. Even with record-breaking success and financial security, Brady admitted to sacrificing precious moments with his children. This lesson resonates with many fathers who struggle to strike a healthy balance. Wealth, Marriage, and the Stress Factor: Finances play a leading role in marital stress. In fact, 37% of divorces are linked primarily to money disagreements. Arguments about spending, saving, and debt are rampant in households. Sometimes, financial infidelity—like secret spending—can quietly erode trust. Moreover, differences in money personalities between spouses can further complicate things. One partner may be a saver while the other prefers to spend, creating ongoing tension. Rethinking the Grind: Society tells us we must stick with what we know, even if it costs us happiness. Larry demonstrates that it's possible to shift careers, learn new skills, and pursue passions. He provides examples of his own path, as well as others who made midlife career changes successfully. There are more ways to generate income today than ever before. From real estate to side hustles, passive revenue is accessible for those willing to be creative and disciplined. Practical Advice for Fathers: Larry urges fathers to pause and consider what the grind is truly costing them. Is it worth missing key moments with your children? Instead of only focusing on earning, he recommends open communication with your spouse. Aligning financial goals can ease the burden and reduce the need for endless overtime. Fathers don't have to choose between security and connection. With intention, you can build both. This episode is packed with raw, practical wisdom on finding balance, embracing new opportunities, and living with intentionality. Here's what research and observation highlight about financial issues in relationships: Almost 3 out of 10 couples are secretly spending money that the other person doesn't know about. Money fights show up in nearly 40 to 50% of all marital arguments. 27% of couples or partners admit to secretly spending, and 10% say it will lead directly to divorce thedadedge.com/friday517 thedadedge.com/mastermind Brady on Family vs football

RUNDOWN   Music history in honor of Tommy Mottola's July 14 birthday—Mitch details how Mottola signed Hall & Oates and running through each of their six No. 1 hits. The “audio clip of the week” spotlights former Cubs manager Lee Elia's legendary profanity-laden tirade at Wrigley Field after a 5–14 start in 1983. Mitch and Hotshot celebrate Seattle's sweep of first-place Detroit and reviewing the Mariners' 51–45 first-half record, good enough for a wild-card spot if the season ended today. Mitch explains why he's optimistic—his rotation is poised to string together quality starts, and an offense buoyed by hot streaks from Randy Arozarena, strong on-base work from JP Crawford, and newfound production from lower-order hitters means the club doesn't need Cal Raleigh to carry the load alone. Mariners bounce back from a blown five-run lead and near no-hitter loss in New York to sweep the AL's best Tigers, cementing a wild-card spot at the All-Star break. Mariners No-Table (Brady Farkas) unpack the unexpected selection of LSU lefty Cade Anderson (saved under slot, with a high floor) as a near-MLB-ready arm, dissect Julio Rodríguez's decision to skip the ASG before homering in each Detroit game, and express outrage that Gino Suárez (31 HRs) wasn't invited to the Home Run Derby. Mitch and Puck chat KJRn'ts Chapter 8 by commiserating over their sudden need for reading glasses and sharing a wild family dare in which Mitch finally ate an entire bowl of mushrooms after his son aced the SAT. They then catch up on life—Jason's youth baseball woes, Mitch's freshman at Arizona—and take playful shots at Jim Moore's “top sports radio hosts” rankings. In this throwback to Ep. 197 (July 5, 2022), Mitch sits down with Rhonda Smith Banchero to revisit her own collegiate battles—most memorably guarding Cheryl Swoopes—and to explore how her “tough-love” coaching shaped Paolo's rise to the No. 1 NBA draft pick. Rhonda shares the moment she bowed out of one-on-one after seventh grade, her deliberate accountability style at home, and the family's bittersweet pride as Paolo chose Duke over UW. Now that he's secured a record-setting $239 million extension, her insights on nurturing a champion feel more poignant than ever. From the news that Michael Jordan's Highland Park estate is now an Airbnb (no parties allowed) to celebrity-boxing matchups, LeBron's Beverly Hills compound, Wimbledon winners, and even the exit of Pearl Jam's longtime drummer Matt Cameron, Mitch and Hotshot pack a whirlwind of sports and pop-culture headlines into one rapid-fire segment.   GUESTS   Brady Farkas | Host, Refuse to Lose Podcast (Mariners on SI) Jason Puckett | Sports Broadcaster & Co-Host of the Refuse to Lose Podcast Rhonda Smith Banchero | UW Women's Basketball Legend & Mother of Paolo Banchero   TABLE OF CONTENTS   0:00 | Celebrating Tommy Mottola's Birthday by Tracing His Early Role in Launching Hall & Oates and Featuring Lee Elia's Infamous Cubs Rant 23:58 | Mariners Enter All-Star Break Thick in the Wild Card Hunt on the Back of Emerging Rotation and Depth-Built Offense 42:07 | GUEST: Mariners No-Table, Brady Farkas, Resilient Road Swing, College Ace Picked at No. 1, Julio's ASG Opt-Out & Gino's Derby Snub 1:07:30 | GUEST: Jason Puckett & Mitch on Presbyopia, Mushroom Dares and Getting Snubbed in the Top-10 Radio Hosts List 1:48:05 | GUEST: Rhonda Smith Banchero, Seattle's No. 1 Pick Paolo Banchero Lands $239 M Deal—Mom Rhonda Smith on Raising an NBA Star, Facing Cheryl Swoopes, and the Duke Decision 1:54:07 | Other Stuff Segment: Golf course fight involving NHL player Nick Tarnaski at Alberta Springs, Jeopardy-style home run question and Gino Suarez's All-Star Derby snub, Adrian Peterson celebrity boxing bout vs. Joe Castaneda, Cal Raleigh's special Home Run Derby bats (including Seattle Supersonics tribute), Airbnb listing for Michael Jordan's former Highland Park home, return of John Tesh's “Roundball Rock” NBA theme on NBC, John Elway cart accident clearance, LeBron James's Beverly Hills mansion construction update, Wimbledon champions Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner comebacks, Ben Shelton's match and Trinity Rodman misidentification, Auburn's DeAngelo Barber marijuana arrest and drug law commentary, speculation about Tom Brady's next girlfriend, Matt Cameron departing Pearl Jam after 27 years, Lorenzo Lamas filing for sixth divorce, Alan G.
