Welcome back, kiddies! We have three tales of madness, obsession and grandmothers this week! First, Dennis Hopper is a sailor who meets a woman who may or may not be a killer -- and she may or may not be a mermaid! It's Curtis Harrington's "Night Tide" from 1961. Next, a Rod Serling skeleton introduces three "chilling" tales -- and they're all in three dimensions! It's "Tales of the Third Dimension" from 1984! Finally, a medieval viking type guy devotes his life to revenge on the monster that killed his daughter in "The Head Hunter" from 2019 directed by Jordan Downey of "Thankskilling." All this plus Warhammer shaming, DVDs, Nerd News, the evil is defeated, junk mails, Kyle from Kentucky, a new spin-off show?, Spookies is finally on blu ray and so much more! It's "Tales from the Undergrad" when Chris (@acecomics) shares some stories regarding a couple of the cornerstones of his earlier studies... social media addiction and forensic psychology (with a focus on missing children), the latter of which parlays into a discussion about the sorta-kinda obscure Lois Lane mini-series from 1986... a pre-Crisis story in a post-Crisis world (or something)! It's a sobering and sad tale, wonderfully crafted by Mindy Newell and Gray Morrow... the comic that is. The rest of the show is still a babbling idiot... and you can listen to him babble on about his love/hate relationship with the "media of social" for the better part of an hour! -- Original Discussions: Lois Lane #1 https://www.chrisisoninfiniteearths.com/2016/02/lois-lane-1-1986.html Lois Lane #2 https://www.chrisisoninfiniteearths.com/2016/02/lois-lane-2-1986.html -- Other Podcast(s) mentioned: Rob O'Hara: http://podcast.robohara.com/ -- weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @acecomics @reggiereggie @cosmictmill weirdsciencedccomics.com chrisisoninfiniteearths.com
Live from Freecon 2018...It's Tales from the Glass-Guarded World! This is a recording of a one-shot game we played at Freecon 2018 at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. Danielle couldn't make it, so the PCs are not the ones you are accustomed to hearing. Instead, we're going to follow some thieves through an exciting evening of burglary. You'll meet these thieves again, in an adventure that takes place 30 years in the past, in a few more episodes.
This week, we talk about a local promotion that Matt and Kevin went to called Glory Pro. Kevin tells us the backstory of Mike Elgin, who is kind of responsible for this promotion and also he tells us a story of when he finally stood up to an asshole person in high school. It's a bit of a different episode, but still fun. Please like our facebook page. It's Tales from the Kayfabe. And leave us a review wherever you listen to this.
Hey, Kids!! What time is it? It's "Tales of the Justice Society of America" time, of course!! (kinda like Peanut Butter Jelly Time only longer and less annoying) This is kind of an odd episode, but don't let that scare you because -- Hell, they're ALL odd episodes, right?!! Don't tell me you hadn't noticed. Anyhow, there is a LOT of awesome Justice Society talk to be had this time 'round, beginning with a "thought provoking" discussion about precisely which team Power Girl "plays for" romantically-speaking. Then, the guys dive into the two big JSA TV appearances of late -- the SMALLVILLE "movie", "ABSOLUTE JUSTICE" (which, wonder of wonders, miracles of miracles, Scott actually watched and has some good things to say about!) and "The Golden Age of Justice" episode of BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD (in which Mike and Scott debate the merits of the series as a whole and Scott speaks of his "issues" with the show). The conversations range from talk about Lois Lane (including just how incredibly hot Dana Delany really is) to just what the guys thought of this first live-action interpretation of their beloved JSA. There are also e-mails galore, which the guys love reading on the air so keep 'em coming, and THEN -- The Main Event -- Scott and Mike discuss DC SUPER-STARS #17, featuring the origin of the Huntress! Last but not least -- the feature you just can't get enough of -- The Hostess ads!! Yup, they just continue gettin' weirder as -- (gasp!!) Wonder Woman fights a billboard! Heh, we couldn't make this shit up if we tried NOTE -- The Two True Freaks! now have a phone line where you can call and leave a completely inappropriate message - We just might use it on the show!
