John Wechsler is the Founder & CEO of the Fishers Test Kitchen, the Indiana IOT Lab, and Launch Fishers. He’s passionate about innovation of all types and helping grow high-impact organizations, which is exactly what the three businesses that I just mentioned are set up to do. In this episode, you’ll hear John tell us about why he started Fail Fest which is a day-long celebration of failures, why it’s important to learn your highest and best use and to find your triple threat, and why you should find mentors who are outside of your industry. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity which enable these objects to connect and exchange data. As technology continues to advance, virtually any device that users interact with will have local computing capabilities that are connected via the cloud to other services. Indiana is a world leader in growing, making, and moving things. When our most important sectors are combined with the spirit of entrepreneurship and the power or technology, Indiana will have leadership in the Internet of Things. The Indiana IoT Lab facility is designed to bring the emerging IoT sector together as a lab for innovation and collaboration. Entrepreneurs and businesses will have the space they need to bring the four key components of IoT solutions together: ideation, cloud data, edge hardware, and development. Through the Lab, these entrepreneurs and businesses will launch the technology solutions needed to meet the world’s growing tech needs. We're ecstatic to have Cameron Weeks, John Wechsler, and Mayor Scott Fadness on the show to discuss how they're working to position central Indiana as a national leader in the Internet of Things. Special Guests: Cameron Weeks, John Wechsler, and Scott Fadness.

This week we learn the latest offerings from Comcast Business's Michael Wilson and learn more about what to expect at the next Fail Fest in September. First up on the show we are joined by Michael Wilson, the Public Relations Director for Comcast-Indiana. Michael Wilson has some exciting technological announcement from Comcast recently. In the last few weeks, Comcast announced a new technology called Machine Q. Machine Q leverages the latest in sensor, network, and software technologies to gather, transmit, and create actionable intelligence. This technology is only being introduced into 15 cities across the country - with Indianapolis being one of the 15. Listen to all the great technology that Comcast is bringing to central Indiana in this segment. To learn more about their offerings, please visit https://www.xfinity.com/ -- This week we are introducing a new segment in the show that we are calling "Paul Poteet - on the Edge." Every week Paul Poteet will join Edge of Indy to talk about some of the trending topics and wacky stories he sees on social media. And of course, he will provide us with a weekly forecast! Here are some of the stories we discussed this week: http://nypost.com/2017/07/24/this-tech-company-will-start-microchipping-their-workers/ http://nypost.com/2017/07/17/poker-player-goes-all-in-with-1-million-bet-to-get-in-shape/ https://twitter.com/wspd1pio/status/889621161646186496 -- Last up on the show is John Wechsler, the founder of Launch Fishers/Launch Indy/Launch Indiana. John is a busy guy and we were able to get a few minutes of his time to talk about the next Fail Fest. This will be the fourth year of Fail Fest and this year the event will take place at Launch Indy within Union 525 in downtown Indianapolis. If you have never been to a Fail Fest before, it is a day-long celebration of failure. The whole event is based on the idea that we can learn and innovate from our failures. This day is full of speakers that share with everyone their biggest failures in life, business, sports or more. Site Strategics was a part of the inaugural year of Fail Fest and we had a pretty good fail of our own that year (you can watch the video here). To learn more about Fail Fest, you can visit their website: http://failfest.us/
