In this episode of the Be Loved, Be Bold podcast, Mary Patton hosts her friend and mentor Newell Simrall. A current member at Mary Patton's home church Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church, Mr. Simrall grew up on a small farm North of Vicksburg and moved to Jackson, MS after marrying his wife Sweyn in 1986. Having taught a number of Sunday school classes at Pear Orchard, Mr. Simrall is a great resource for students in learning more about the Bible and how to read it. In this podcast episode, he reminds students the value of the Bible being God's "inspired, inherent, infallible, perfect, holy" Word, and shares that boldness originates in knowing Jesus Christ better through it. We hope you enjoy this episode, "Newell Simrall: How to Read the Bible."

Meet the Guest: The native Mississippian, Step Morgan spent 20 years as a manager, consultant, and corporate trainer in the field of customer service before enrolling as a Master of Divinity student at RTS. The following audio is a recording for the Adult Sunday School class at Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church. What does a 17th Century man have to tell us 21st Century people about the Christian life? Isn't he outdated? Thomas Goodwin was a Puritan pastor, preacher, and professor. He had a phenomenal influence on the people in his time and throughout the 350 years since. His most known work The Heart of Christ is arguably one of the most Christ-centered works from a very Christ-Centered movement. What do Goodwin and his writings tell us about the Christian life?
