**Clay Edwards Show with Creston Burch – Episode Description** Big updates on the Nolan Wells case dominate this episode. Sources indicate the Wells family and Ben Crump have not turned over Nolan's cell phone to the Jackson County DA's office despite requests, and they have declined or ignored an invitation to sit down and review the state crime lab autopsy and toxicology reports. The toxicology is said to show high alcohol levels, no cocaine, and likely THC. The autopsy is expected to list drowning or undetermined as the cause, with the manner of death remaining undetermined — a finding that does not equal homicide. Discussion covers the condition of the body after roughly 36 hours at sea and the ongoing narrative push around deleted messages and foul play. Also covered: neighbors in Pascagoula have sued Judge Ashley Cole and Dr. Hudson over a permitted fence that allegedly blocks their harbor view, adding another layer of pressure on the family amid the broader case. Locally, the death of Taseya Fortune, found hanging behind an abandoned house on Road of Remembrance in Jackson, draws scrutiny of lynching claims. A person of interest living with her had already been arrested on an unrelated charge, with reports of a prior quarrel. Speculation about white supremacist involvement is examined against the emerging facts. Additional segments touch on a widely circulated but false claim that a Yemeni immigration attorney was appointed municipal judge in Ridgeland (denied by both the individual and the city), plus ongoing WNBA drama involving Sophie Cunningham and former NBA players seeking to enter the women's league. Straightforward discussion of the facts as they stand, the incentives driving public narratives, and why some stories refuse to die quietly.

**Mississippi Appoints First Muslim Woman as Municipal Judge | Assma Ali Sworn In – Benoit, Not Ridgeland** Breaking news: Mississippi has appointed its first Muslim female municipal judge (and possibly its first Muslim judge period). Assma Ali, a Ridgeland-based immigration attorney, was sworn in as municipal court judge for the tiny Delta town of Benoit on August 5, 2026. The story exploded over the weekend with viral claims she had been named judge in Ridgeland. That turned out to be false. Ridgeland's official page quickly denied any appointment. Ali's own vague Facebook posts fueled the confusion before she deleted them and later posted the actual oath of office and town agenda confirming Benoit. In this video I walk through: - Exactly how the rumor started and spread - The screenshots, posts, and documents - Where I was half-wrong in my earlier reporting and how I corrected it - Why an immigration attorney + Muslim judge in Mississippi has people raising red flags - The bigger questions about Sharia, culture, and “just getting a foot in the door” This is the full breakdown with receipts. This week is part two of our conversation with Old Testament scholar and theologian Dr. John Oswalt to discuss his 2009 book The Bible Among the Myths - Unique Revelation or Just Ancient Literature? John continues to outline his case that the Bible is utterly unique in ancient literature, despite any alleged similarities in its pages with its surrounding pagan cultures often unnecessarily overemphasized by skeptics and critics of the Bible. Dr. John Oswalt Asbury served on the faculty of Asbury Theological seminary from 1970 to 1982 as professor of Old Testament and Semitic languages, and again from 1989 to 1999 as Professor of Old Testament. He rejoined Asbury in 2009 as visiting distinguished professor of Old Testament studies. He has also served as research professor of Old Testament at Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Miss., from 1999 to 2009, was president of Asbury College from 1983 to 1986, a member of the faculty of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill., from 1986 to 1989, and  Interim President of Wesley Biblical Seminary, Ridgeland, MS from April 2019 through March 2020.He is the author of 16 books, most notable of which is the two-volume commentary on the book of Isaiah in the New International Commentary of the Old Testament. His most recent book is The Holy One of Israel: Studies in the Book of Isaiah, released in 2014. He has also written numerous articles that have appeared in Bible encyclopedias, scholarly journals and popular religious periodicals. Dr. Oswalt is an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, with membership in the Kentucky Annual Conference. He has served as a part-time pastor in congregations in New England and Kentucky, and is a frequent speaker in conferences, camps and local churches. The Truth About Why Black Boys Are Being Killed With Their White Friends (Ep #1262)

**The Truth About Why Black Boys Are Being Killed With Their White Friends** Clay Edwards is joined by Creston Birch, a recently retired 30-year Clinton Police Department veteran, for a raw discussion sparked by a recent incident outside a Flowood Whataburger. Around 1:30 a.m., a group of mostly white teenagers included one Black teen who pointed what turned out to be a realistic toy gun at a white girl's head. A bystander confronted them and called police. Officers arrived to little consequence, and a detective later told the caller that Flowood gets 10–15 similar calls a week involving kids with realistic toy or airsoft guns. Clay shares his own earlier experience witnessing a similar scene in Ridgeland and warns that these look-alike guns create split-second, life-or-death decisions for bystanders and police alike—especially in Rankin and Madison counties. Creston recounts nearly shooting a 14-year-old over a plastic cap gun that fell from a waistband during a late-night stop. The pair walk through documented cases in which children (including Tamir Rice, Andy Lopez, Tyree King and others) were fatally shot after officers or others mistook realistic replicas for real firearms. The conversation expands into parental responsibility, the refusal of many parents to treat the behavior seriously, racial double standards in how these stories are framed, and the broader pattern of crime and cultural accountability in the Jackson metro area. Clay challenges the narrative that race is irrelevant until a Black child is the one shot, and both hosts stress that pointing any gun—real or toy—at another person in public is an act that invites deadly force. Later segments include the 1973 kidnapping of J. Paul Getty III and his grandfather's refusal to pay ransom until an ear was mailed, Clay's recent meeting with UFC legend Matt Hughes, the enduring story of Gary Plauche (the Baton Rouge father who shot his son's kidnapper and molester at the airport), the three-year anniversary of Jason Aldean's “Try That in a Small Town,” a VladTV poll ranking the “most hated” groups in America, and Southaven Mayor Darren Musselwhite's aggressive mini-blind and code-enforcement push. No commercials, station IDs, or streaming mentions. Just the conversation.

**Clay Edwards Show – Grills of Mississippi: Always Grilling Season & the Best Pellets in the State** Clay lights up the airwaves with a passionate sponsor read for Grills of Mississippi on Highway 51 North in Ridgeland, declaring it's **always** grilling season — rain, snow, sleet, or hail, real grillers are out there flipping meat like the postman delivers mail. He raves about their premium selection of Weber grills, Yoder smokers, and full outdoor kitchen setups that turn any backyard into the ultimate gathering spot.   What really gets him fired up is their top-tier smoking pellets, grown right here in the Southeast instead of the dusty desert pellets from out West that clog fire starters and ruin cooks. Clay shares his own experience of switching to Grills of Mississippi pellets and how it fixed his smoker issues, then recounts how Tracy and Jonathan patiently walked him through cooking the perfect prime rib — step-by-step, no talking down — and it turned out flawless. They also stock the best rubs, sauces, and seasonings with a free sample rack so you can try everything before you buy, plus high-quality meats like lard-injected pork chops, tri-tip, brisket, and what Clay calls the best boudin on the planet.   These aren't just salespeople — they're genuine enthusiasts who started as hobbyists and turned it into a labor of love. In this segment, Clay Edwards sits down with Kingfish of JacksonJambalaya.com to break down the newly passed Jackson Water Authority legislation and what it really means for the city. Kingfish explains the bill's key provisions: how the new authority board is structured, with three seats for the City of Jackson (including a non-voting role for the mayor), three for the governor, one for the lieutenant governor, and seats for nearby cities like Byram and Ridgeland. He details why the legislature removed the Jackson City Council's approval power over certain appointments and lowered the threshold for rate increases and bond issues from a three-fourths to a two-thirds majority. The conversation explores the deep distrust many lawmakers have toward city leadership and voters when it comes to managing critical infrastructure. Topics include the transfer of approximately $120 million in water and sewer debt off the city's books, the requirement for the authority to lease the system from Jackson, and the potential for political pushback from the city council. Kingfish and Clay discuss the broader context — repeated failures with Jackson's water system, past issues with leadership, and why many see this as a necessary step to protect ratepayers and ensure reliable service, even as Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba expressed strong disappointment with the final bill. This is a clear-eyed, no-spin look at one of Jackson's most important infrastructure battles, the politics behind it, and what it could mean for the future of the city's water and sewer system. **Guest:** Kingfish (Jackson Jambalaya) **Focus:** Jackson Water Authority bill, board control, debt transfer, rate hikes, and local political distrust.
