RC005 Teach, Coach, Live: The Triple Threat in Boarding Schools Dr. Greg Martin is a history teacher and Upper School Dean at Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, PA. He is a published author that has spent countless hours writing and advocating on the ideas of teaching, coaching, and living in boarding schools and the viability of this trifecta in today's modern teaching society. He earned his Ed.D. from Drexel University, a Bachelor’s degree in Political Theory from Wheaton College, and a Master’s degree in European History from Western Connecticut State University. Dr. Greg joins us today to share how the teach, coach, live model works in the boarding school setting. We discuss the triple threat model and the current trends happening in day schools as well as boarding schools. AIR’s Peter Cookson talks with Education Policy Center and Center on Great Teachers and Leaders (GTL Center) Director Angela Minnici about the importance of providing all students with access to effective teachers and school leaders. The GTL Center is currently working closely with states to design and implement State Plans to Ensure Equitable Access, including identifying the root causes of inequitable access to effective educators in each state’s context.
Peter Cookson currently holds the High Performance Director (HPD) position at Rowing Canada Aviron. As an HPD he is responsible for the overall direction of the Canadian National rowing programs, with the end goal of producing World Championship and Olympic medalists. To get to his position, Cookson has spent more than 40 years in rowing and has coached in numerous countries around the world, including South Africa for which he coached the South African sculler at the 2008 Olympic Games. He has coached for the Canadian National Team, University level rowing teams and has being heavily involved in the International Rowing Federation development program.
