In this episode, we kick things off by examining the escalating regulatory battle over the proposed Union Pacific-Norfolk Southern mega-merger. Canadian National is urging federal regulators to reject the amended application, arguing that the filing still omits critical information needed to assess competitive impacts. CN criticizes the proposed Committed Gateway Pricing program as temporary and highly limited, excluding major traffic categories and applying to less than one percent of U.S. rail traffic. Next, we explore the auto logistics sector where Proficient Auto Logistics reported a brutal first quarter that sent its stock tumbling nearly nineteen percent. Extended automotive plant shutdowns, severe winter weather, and disrupted rail and sea transportation pipelines pushed the company's operating ratio to a staggering one hundred three point four percent. However, management remains optimistic that improved March trends and stronger seasonal factors will stabilize second-quarter performance. Finally, we cover the rapid expansion of autonomous trucking as Kodiak AI posted seventy-four percent quarter-over-quarter revenue growth and expanded its driverless fleet to twenty-eight trucks. The company deployed eight additional fully driverless trucks during the first quarter and accumulated more than twenty-three thousand five hundred cumulative hours of paid operations. Kodiak also secured one hundred million dollars in new financing and launched a partnership with Roehl Transport for regular Dallas-Houston freight lanes. Next, we dive into the maritime defense sector as a South Korean-owned shipyard in Philadelphia secures its very first U.S. Navy contract since being acquired in 2024. Hanwha Defense USA will partner with a naval design firm to develop agile supply vessels that can refuel and rearm combat ships directly at sea. Canadian National Unity and Alberta's Grievances Guest: Conrad Black Conrad Black reports on a debate between former Prime Ministers Jean Chrétien and Stephen Harper regarding Canadian national unity, focusing on Alberta's profound discontent. Resource-rich Alberta feels unfairly treated and prevented from profiting from oil and gas development due to federal opposition to pipeline construction. Harper warned of serious national problems if the new government, led by Prime Minister Mark Carney, remains inflexible on energy policy. Black notes that while Canada's political institutions are durable, flexibility is required to maintain unity and coherence across diverse regions. GREENLAND

PREVIEW: Canadian National Unity: Alberta's Grievance Over Equalization Payments and Pipeline Prevention Guest: Conrad Black Conrad Black discusses the state of Canada's national unity, highlighting that Alberta feels unfairly treated by the federal government. Alberta sends substantial wealth to Ottawa through equalization payments, a system where money from prosperous provinces is transferred to ensure less prosperous provinces can provide equivalent service levels. Alberta has traditionally been relatively uncomplaining about its role in these payments but now feels it receives little back in return. More significantly, Alberta believes its energy resources are being undermined by federal policy. The province's primary complaint is that it has been prevented for the past decade from building pipelines, both east and west, to utilize its oil and gas reserves, for which there is strong global demand. Black concludes that apart from this critical issue, national unity is relatively stable, and provinces are waiting to see what changes, if any, the new prime minister will implement regarding this contentious policy.

HALLIBURTON VICTIM OF CYBERATTACK.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Indonesia: Mass protesting and rioting broke out overnight following a controversial proposed change to election law. Indonesians began demonstrating in response to a proposed rule change to lower the minimum age required to run for public office. AC: The proposed change would have lowered the age limit by five years…just enough to allow the outgoing President's son to be eligible to run. In response to the riots, this proposed rule change has reportedly been scrapped for now, however unrest continues nonetheless.United Kingdom: Yesterday a man was stabbed in Bristol, resulting in the death of the unidentified man. Three men have been arrested in conjunction with this attack. In Southampton, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the face by another 15-year-old. The assailant was arrested at the scene and the victim remains hospitalized. -HomeFront-North America: All cross-border rail traffic between the United States and Canada halted this morning due to an ongoing labor union dispute. CPKC and Canadian National railroads began a lockout of their workers at midnight, due to the inability to reach agreements during contract negotiations.USA: Halliburton reported being targeted by a significant cyberattack yesterday evening. AC: Not many details have been made public regarding the attack, but a few sites in Texas have reported unspecified impacts to their operations.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: Labor disputes involving rail logistics are not uncommon, however as with any potential halting of trade the impacts could be wide-ranging, especially as this labor dispute comes at peak cargo handling season. Due to the nature of supply chain logistics, even a short interruption of trade will likely cause backlogs lasting weeks, or even months.Analyst: S2A1//END REPORT//
