PART 2 OUT NOW! After four years, I finally sit down with the Rishi Bahl! Rishi Bahl is a “doctor,” musician, animal advocate, promoter, and more! For the last 20 years, Rishi has been the front man in a band called Eternal Boy. (Formally known as ‘The Spacepimps') When he's not on stage, he is planning one of Pittsburgh's biggest events in the Four Chord Music Festival. - Rishi grew up in Pittsburgh and found his way into the punk rock scene in arguably one of the best times in its existence. Obsessed with bands like Blink-182, New Found Glory, and The Starting Line, Rishi decided to take his love of music one step further and pick up a guitar. All these years later, he is still making records and rocking out at shows, all while planning and executing the 10th anniversary of Four Chord Fest. - As a kid who grew up in this era of music, going to shows every weekend, Rishi's band was always one of the “big dawgs” when you saw them on the show lineups so having him in the studio to talk about all he's done was really a cool moment for me. This week I meet up with the definition of hard work, perseverance, and determination, RISHI BAHL. Rishi's ability to stay true to what he believes in has led him to great heights in his life. Rishi is the founder of FOUR CHORD MUSIC FEST, FOUR CHORD MUSIC RECORD LABEL, THE SPACEPIMPS (band) and ETERNAL BOY (band). I forgot one...he is also a Professor of Marketing at La Roche University in Pittsburgh, PA. When it comes to his band Eternal Boy, Rishi had to make some decisions few would be able to make. I'll say that they worked out in the end (listen and you'll find out what they were). The labor of love that is FOUR CHORD MUSIS FEST has grown leaps and bounds over the past eight years and to hear the stories of the ups and downs along the way are heart warming and confounding. Join Rishi and I as we discuss “One Dream At A Time” while we wake from the “Nightmare” that was “A Long Year!” Make sure to “Listen For The Clues” or “You're Going To Regret It!”FOUR CHORD MUSIC FESTIVAL - September 9th & 10th 2022 Wild Things Park-Pittsburgh, PA
Rishi Bahl followed his own path and passions inspired by his love of the bands of the label Drive Thru Records. He talks to Will about his love of the seminal Pop Punk record label, how it inspired the community feeling behind Four Chord Music and the Four Chord Music Festival, the thrill of creating something from scratch, His band Eternal Boy's new album Bad Days Are Over, Touring Japan, and England, and why he feels lucky that he never signed to a record label. Episode #143 on Bardown Breakdown, and boy, did we pull a big fish! We had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Rishi, one third of Eternal Boy, and the founder of both Four Chord Music, and the Four Chord Music Festival, which will celebrate its' 8th anniversary next year! We talk about how important labels like Drive-Thru and Vagrant were integral to the success of today's music, how Four Chord has grown from small clubs to baseball stadiums, Eternal Boy's newest record, and of course, Pens hockey. A true Lemieuxer if there ever was one. Is it actually possible to remain humble when you book Blink freaking 182 to headline your festival and when they can't make it, you book Rise freaking Against in their stead? Listen in and find out! (spoiler - it is possible, cause the homie Rishi lives that humility every day). NEW EPISODE EVERY TUESDAY! SUBSCRIBE SO YOU NEVER MISS A GREAT INTERVIEW! In this episode, I talk to my long-time friend Rishi Bahl from the band Eternal Boy. Rishi and I had a blast catching up. Not only is he the front-man of the band Eternal Boy, but he's also a professor of marketing, as well as the founder of The Four Chord Music Festival and the founder of Four Chord Music. Four Chord Music has released records by Eternal Boy, Fortune Cove, and Harbor, just to name a few. We discuss what it's like being a professor and how marketing ties into the DIY ethos derived from playing in bands. Enjoy! Eternal Boy is an American pop punk band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which had been called The SpacePimps prior to 2017. The band consists of vocalist and lead guitar player, Rishi Bahl, bass guitar player, Joe Harbulak, and drummer, Andy Mayer. In April 2021, Eternal Boy released their fifth overall album, Bad Days Are Over, which charted for 4 weeks in Billboard top 100 New Albums.
