In the late '90s, The Flys had us all in a trance with their brooding alt-rock anthem “Got You (Where I Want You),” a song that buzzed through movie trailers, TV shows, and the Disturbing Behavior soundtrack like a late-summer fever dream. But just as quickly as they soared, they crash-landed into the used CD bins of America. This week, we're joined by Rishi Bahl of Eternal Boy and Four Chord Music Festival to investigate what clipped the wings of this Hollywood-born band made up of actual surf royalty. From the hypnotic riff that defined their biggest hit to deep cuts like “She's So Huge” and song titles like “Sexual Sandwich,” we cover it all—plus we dig into the James Marsden cinematic universe and question whether “Got You” might be alt-rock's forgotten gem...or just another fly on the wall. Welcome to “Not Couple Goals” where co-hosts Allie Nelson and Tyler McCarthy do a deep dive into a different ridiculous romantic thriller from the vantage point of their long-term relationship. Allie, a TV writer/producer and actress, has an affinity for romantic thrillers, the more salacious the better. Tyler, an entertainment reporter and critic, often finds himself drawn in despite his better judgment. Join them as they explore all the ways it's possible to love too hard… like WAY too hard. To celebrate the end of Spooky Season, Allie and Tyler tackled a movie billed as an erotic, thriller/horror that was neither with “Disturbing Behavior” starring James Marsden and Katie Holmes. Join them as they tear down the many cliche high school tropes this movie has to offer and hear Allie fawn over the impeccably attractive James Marsden. Can someone look so hot drinking a Coke that you'd kill? Listen and find out. Special thanks to Mallory Johns for the introduction music. Apologies to Madeleine Stowe, a great thriller from 1998, resting dick face, a couple of great stoner performances, the genius of May and Matthau, laying off the drinking, a great horoscope, ridiculous coffee orders, actors doing crappy commercials, a touching animated movie about a dog and a robot, an amazing article about loneliness, Elon Musk still sucks, the quieting of the American cafeteria, airport bins are toxic, a movie with substance, an amazing perfomance by Demi Moore, another burning behind, and saying goodbye. Along the way, we delve into the tug-of-war between what the film wants to say and what the movie actually says about teen angst and rebellion, the competing sci-fi teen scream flicks of 1998, discuss why parents just don't understand, and why no one considered an intolerance to horny thoughts to a be a behavior-modification dealbreaker during R&D!! This week, Josh and Drusilla discuss Bob Balaban's 1989 black comedy Parents. From wiki: “Parents is a 1989 American black comedy horror film directed by Bob Balaban and starring Randy Quaid, Mary Beth Hurt, Sandy Dennis and Bryan Madorsky. Set in a 1950s California suburb, the film centers on a 10-year old boy (Madorsky), who suspects that his parents (Quaid and Hurt) are not what they seem. It was Balaban's debut as a feature film director.”But also! Martha Stewart and Whatever, Martha. Movie Synopsis: A police S.W.A.T. team investigate a mysterious VHS tape and discover a sinister cult that has pre-recorded material which uncovers a nightmarish conspiracy. __________________________________________________ What an absolute pleasure speaking to Gina (not to get her mixed up with Gina Phillips from Jeepers Creepers)… Although Gina has a brief role in “V/H/S/94”, it's an important role; being a news anchor is not an easy job. Especially when you're covering a story that's invigorating as the “Ratman” in the sewers. What did we talk about? Her role in the movie of course! She spoke of how she started her career as an actress in Toronto and how she heard of the role of “Camille' – to be a part of the V/H/S Franchise is something to be very proud of. Ever since this movie was released, the bar for found footage has been raised and the rest of the movies that come after get better. We also spoke how this movie really grabbed the essence of the 1990s with the costumes and the makeup (and the crazy hair style that Gina has). The 90s was a good era for coming out horror; Disturbing Behavior, Sleepwalkers, Stir of Echoes, House on Haunted Hill, In the Mouth of Madness – the list goes on and on. She also expressed her gratitude for working alongside Pedro Pascal in “The Last of Us” for a short time and she also said that he cool as the public says. How awesome is that? To act in a series with Pedro? Pretty damn amazing in my opinion.

Happy FRIDAY Creek Talkers!
Hello friends. Nice of you to join us. In this movie, a high school student moves to a town that is located on an island, and befriends a long-haired guy, Powder, and a thoroughly sultry girl (who, in any real high school, would be one of the most popular girls). I apologize. Back to the task at hand. This student falls in with the wrong crowd, and even though the best students in school, the Blue Ribbons, try and bring him onto the good side, he ruins everything by befriending a stuttering old codger in the basement, and complete chaos ensues. Make sure you save all of your fluids, and join us as we discuss Disturbing Behavior!Support the Show.
Today on The Storehouse Media Podcast, Sherrie Clark and Neil "The Media Giant" Haley of The Neil Haley Show interview Nick Stahl. Nick Stahl was born in Harlingen, Texas on December 5, 1979, to Donna Lynn, a brokerage assistant, and William Kent Stahl, a businessman. After his mother took him to see a children's play at the age of four, Nick confidently declared that acting would be his future. Commercials and community plays followed, two television movies were also released in the early 90s. The breakthrough he needed came next when he starred alongside Mel Gibson, who hand-selected Nick for the role, in The Man Without a Face (1993). Nick played Chuck, the little boy who befriends a stranger that was disfigured in an accident. At age 17 he was cast in Disturbing Behavior (1998) and the ensemble film The Thin Red Line (1998), which was nominated for Best Picture by the Academy Awards. He has continued to find success with acting, and though he has been featured in major studio productions he is still, to date, more widely known for his edgier and darker indie film roles.

Greetings! We've got a couple more visits to the late 90's before getting into some current 2024 horror releases. DISTURBING BEHAVIOR is the raw essence of 1998 distilled into pure, shameless, trash. Katie Holmes, horny/homicidal teens, an incoherent mind control premise, stock thematic elements about the dangers of conformity, and James Marsden looking like a full grown man in his early 30's portraying a high school student. Join us as we discuss this important milestone in cinematic history. "It's a class system here at CB High, Stevie Boy. Check it out...Those three guys are Cradle Bay's answer to Manson, McVeigh and OJ. Music of choice: the hum of perfection, the buzz of ambition. Drug of choice: life, the pursuit of clean living at the expense of all who sniffle at the hem of their gowns. The you've got kids like me and UV here, those who like their metal heavy, their Marlboro's light. Music of choice...Harvester of Sorrow, Language of the Mad. Drug of choice: what have you got? That's it. Lesson over. Class dismembered. Welcome to Cradle Bay High, Stevie Boy. Welcome to my nightmare." It's The Who Goes There Podcast Episode 407! “Sounds razor.” We're continuing our theme of late ‘90s high school thrillers and diving into 1998's Disturbing Behavior, which is about a group of teenage outcasts who uncover a mind control conspiracy at their high school. Blaire put her fake nose ring in for this episode to celebrate the film's grunge style icon, Katie Holmes! Costumes by Trish Keating, who also costumed some of our faves, like Mother, May I Sleep With Danger, Bordello of Blood, and The Amy Fisher Story starring Drew Barrymore (PS. we did a Drewcember on it!). Listen to us discuss the various cliques of Cradle Bay High, and Katie Holmes's first foray into bad-girl territory, aka her role as “Cook's Ridge trash!”, a departure from her Dawson's Creek girl-next-door character. We also talk about our shared Obsess Much for the week: the TV series, Swarm! For visuals of the costumes, follow us on Instagram at @fishnetflixpod and TikTok @fishnetflix ! DM or email your movie requests at info@fishnetflix.com! We love hearing from you! Don't forget to rate, subscribe, and leave a review on iTunes and wherever you listen to the show!
On this week's episode, the gang welcomes back long-time friend of the show, Angelica Jade Bastién to chat about the ridiculous, sci-fi teen thriller, Disturbing Behavior! What's with this obnoxious UV character and all his hype man stuff? How stupid was MGM thinking they could mindlessly strip 40 minutes out of this movie and have it still make sense? And why can't we get any career justice for James Marsden? PLUS: The return of our beloved Egg Lawyer, this time playing Egg Principal! Disturbing Behavior stars James Marsden, Katie Holmes, Nick Stahl, Bruce Greenwood, Steve Railsback, Katharine Isabelle, Ethan Embry, and William Sadler as Dorian Newberry; directed by David Nutter.Catch the guys on the road this fall in the U.S.A.
