After appearing on the Vans Warped Tour, they signed with Fearless Records and released their debut album This Vicious Cycle in 2000, followed by additional releases including Heroes from the Future and a split with Over It. Although plans for a new album in 2005 were ultimately scrapped, their influence lingered, leading to reunions including a brief set in 2015. In 2025, the band resurfaced with the first-ever vinyl release of This Vicious Cycle and reunited for a mini-tour across Boston, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York, closing the loop on a legacy that refused to stay buried. Jim shares his incredible journey through South Florida's underground music scene and his parallel life in journalism.He reflects on his early exposure to music through his concert-promoter father, the rise of South Florida's punk, metal, and hardcore scenes in the 1980s and 1990s, founding the South Florida Slammie Awards where he promoted over 700 bands, and managing the band Raped Ape. Jim shares stories about shows with Marilyn Manson, Nonpoint, Against All Authority, New Found Glory, and others, performing at iconic venues like The Button South, The Plus Five, Respectable Street, and The Edge, which later became The Chili Pepper and eventually Revolution, as well as The Factory and many more. MUSIC The 40th anniversary of Live Aid is this Sunday. And if you want to relive that moment in music history, the official YouTube channel will be celebrating with over 10 hours of footage. It was truly a transformative and impactful era of music for those like myself who went to high school in the early 2000's, and one era that can't be duplicated ever again. Polar Bear Club was a post-hardcore/melodic punk band from upstate New York. They were active mostly from the mid-2000s to around 2015. Their sound was a mix of gruff, emotional vocals with melodic yet aggressive instrumentals. They released albums on Triple Crown Records, Bridge Nine Records and Rise Records. And toured with such bands as The Gaslight Anthem, Set Your Goals, Four Year Strong, Every Time I Die, The Bouncing Souls, Bad Religion, The Story So Far, Citizen, New Found Glory and Taking Back Sunday.
