Being a servant means giving yourself away. The Kingdom is counter-culture, to not chase status and privilege. The only way up is servanthood (like Jesus).

In the last few days of Jesus pre-crucifixion ministry, he asks "What do you want me to do for you?”... Unfortunately the recording was damaged so this is a partial recording. Our apologies.
There are those who seem to have everything; wealth, prestige, power…and you'd think, a good measure of happiness. As we'll learn from a rich, young ruler's encounter with Jesus, these things don't bring true satisfaction to the soul, as you might think! For ages, there has been some dispute in regard to the issue of baptism, how should one be baptized, sprinkled or immersed. Is it necessary for one to be baptized in order to be saved? Pastor Phil will discuss this subject today, as we continue in Marks Gospel, chapter 10.
We believe that we are called of God to teach the Bible line upon line and to equip the members of our church to love God and serve Him in a way that demonstrates His love to people.

Pastor Steve finishes up Mark chapter 10 as we close out 2015--and we enter the final days of Jesus's life and ministry before he heads to the cross in roughly a week from the events unfolding at the end of Mark chapter 10.
We tend to live our lives for the avoidance of pain. Because we think that suffering tends to stand in the way of our joy we find ourselves constantly longing for things that will make our lives easier and more enjoyable. While this pathway seems like the one that will lead us to joy, Jesus walks a different path. He shows us that suffering doesn't stand in the way of our joy, it is the actual pathway to joy.
